  1. If he's going down in a slide you can't hit him regardless.

The LB was running at full speed. By the time RG3 initiated the slide, the LB had no shot of stopping. Watch that play again, the LB already lowered his shoulders before Bob even began to slide.

Clean hit without a doubt in my mind

  2. The rams are garbage though. And the cardinals are a nice story, but they won't do anything in the playoffs if they even get there.

The nfc east has 4 of the top 16 qbs in the nfl, the nfc west has none in the top 16. The 49ers are a great team, but all the others will fade come playoff time.

top 16? Thats half the league. Drop it to top 10 and only Eli remains.

  3. Don't really think you can say that. The NFC East is the third best division in all of football behind only the nfc north and afc north.

I think I can. I'm genuinely interested in watching Thursday game. When was the last time you heard anyone even willing to watch a Cardinals/Rams game.

The only reason I watch NFC East divisional games is when I'm in need of a good laugh. That used to be the NFC West's job.

  4. But unfortunately, if both of them are sent packing this year, I doubt we land either. Manusky probably would have already bought himself one year because Grigson would probably feel guilty that he did not do more with a defensive draft. Grigson would want to give Manusky a fair shot with one more good offseason and draft before Manusky is sent packing if our D does not improve across the board.

2 seasons for Manusky thus is a given, UNLESS, we do a Texans' secondary like job from a few years ago before Wade Philips took over.

I think in both cases the QB will be the scapegoat and they should survive for one more year.

  5. Just like Wade Philips. Maybe Rex Ryan will become our next DC after Manusky is let go and Rex gets the boot in NY??? :)

Thats what I was thinking as I wrote that. Rex or Crennel. I had high hopes for the Chiefs this season and once again Crennel reminded me why he was ran out of Cleveland

  6. This is brought up every time the Bears have a national game. Yes, Tim is much better as a Bear.

Marinelli might have been one of the worst head coaches this league has ever seen, but he's a great coordinator

  7. The Lions dont look like a playoff team. They're quickly becoming the new Cowboys. A lot of talent going nowhere.

I cant say I'm sold on the Vikings either. I think the 49ers win was a fluke. They just didnt look like themselves. The 49ers that beat the jets easily today would have won last week. I think the 49ers just overlooked the Vikings and ended up getting sucker punched by a mediocre team.

  8. That's got nothing to do with it. Look it up. Tackles aren't even an official stat. They are collected by the home teams own official scorer. There are 32 different criteria for Tackles/Assists.

There were 5 Colts players in the top 50 in the NFL in Assists. That's a bit absurd and most likely highly inaccurate.

Check out Advanced NFL stats "Tackle Factor" which takes into account position, defensive plays, 1st downs etc, and the players share of the teams tackles...Where Angerer ranked 33rd, among Linebackers.....Conner was 34th....

ROFL You just disproved your own self. Certain teams like the Rams prefer using solo tackles, so you're going to see guys like Laurinaitis rack up solo tackles. On the other side of the spectrum you have teams that rarely give out solo tackles like our Colts. So the best way to determine the amount of tackles is the combined amount. Which is why nfl.com's leader board tracks the combined amount, when "experts" discuss tackles on tv theyre talking about the combined amount and when fantasy teams give out points in idp leagues its for the combined amount.

  9. Dude. I am real.

If teams were to pick apart our roster Angerer would be fairly far down the list of best def. players....Freeney Mathis Bethea Davis Powers Redding would all be chosen before Angerer.

Angerer finished tied for 24th in Tackles last year. Played and Started in all 16 games.

    I think you mean 4th

  10. And if, for whatever reason, Luck turns into the next ryan leaf?

Its a low risk-high reward move. You never know the next time a prospect of Luck's caliber is going to appear again and you're in position to draft him. At the end of the day this was a safer bet than keeping Manning and seeing what becomes available after he retires.

Irsay's financial succes is tied to the product he puts on the field. It's in his best interest to take the option that will most likely allow his team to continue winning for the longest amount of time.

  11. Can you tell me, then, how going with Luck instead of Peyton is putting more money into Irsay's pocket?

Consistency vs short term profit. Whatever financial burdens the Colts might go through this season, will be more than made up by having a solid product for the next decade.

I doubt that was BleedingBlue's point but even a broken clock is right twice a day

  12. I'm the exact opposite- for years, the NFL was (and in fewer ways today, still is) a rotten league by any measure of business ethics, and concussions are only one part of it. The issue wasn't that players get concussed- the issue is that the NFL flat out lied about the risks and paid doctors to argue against any research that wound up showing links between football, head trauma, and life long side effects. The league was playing both sides of the fence because they wanted to continue to market the game to children and schools, and to acknowledge the danger of concussions makes it more expensive to do so because of insurance issues. So, instead of playing it honestly and potentially hurting their marketing and future talent pool, they played the denial card.

They didn't even admit to a link between head trauma and long term side effects until Congress stepped in. No more than a few years ago, guys were getting knocked out and coming back in the same game. The problem is, high school and college follows what the NFL does, and kids wound up getting killed and permanently injured from it via second impact syndrome. Now, the NFL isn't responsible for other football orgs, but they do set the precedent and plenty of NFL'ers also paid the price for their stance.

Bottom line is, using the "assumption of the risk" defense doesn't work if the league denies the freakin' risk!

Collie has no case because the league actually treats these things seriously now. No more mixed messages from the NFL. And I say, it's about time.

    Counter rant over.

You beat me to it. Well Said
