I figured so, and it wasn't directed at you...just the general thought pattern.

Honestly I don’t rank guitar players because they have different styles  and are better at some things than others.  Being a better guitar player is very subjective to one own personal likes and dislikes.

Thank god I didn't inherit the "comparison" gene. I'll never understand the need to elevate one, while putting down another. I am a guitar player and they are the worst. They constantly rate them. It seems it is a genetic need in some.

Lol  that’s funny because I’m a guitar player also.   I was responding to people who were saying  Andrew luck is Bert Jones the second that’s all.   As a matter of fact I am seeing one of the greatest riff guitarist of all time when I go see the Rolling Stones tonight.

U can see 2 ways.  He had an incredible heart or just plain dumb for playing all those years getting beat up.  It is a different game today.  Players r getting millions allowing them to retire sooner. Plus the science is out there with regards to injuries and their long term effects.  It's just not worth it.

The other thing I thought was maybe he just really never wanted to play football and didn’t love the game the way players who fight back from Bad injuries do to play again.   It’s possible I don’t know his heart .   No question it’s his decision to make  it’s the way this happened that bothers me .  IMO  if he ever tries to come back I hope it’s not with the colts.   His press conference told me a lot about him and it’s time we MoveOn take our huge loss that this is and try to build a Super Bowl team.

Bert, Burt and Burke?.....I had no idea there were triplets. haha jk

Anyway.....I can see you're point to an extent....its all about their priorities in life. Andrew made his decision and having been maimed for well over half his time in the NFL....I can see his side of it too.

The only thing that will really tick me off is if this ankle/calf issue of Andrew's was the result of another snowboarding mishap like his shoulder setback was.

Does he have the right to do what he wants for off-season? Yes

Does his choice of off-season recreation indicate his priorities? Absolutely.

If I remember right, Bert Jones liked hunting down in the Bayou... which is probably much safer for a football player than snowboarding....

.... as long as don't bring Bobby Knight with you.

Lol  it’s my phone or can I say

  5. This topic really wasn’t about the ability there’s no question Andrew luck is or I should say was an incredible talent it’s about heart and people comparing Bert Jones with luck as if they were both busts.   Burt Jones retired because he absolutely could not physically play rock quit in his words he did not have the mental ability anymore .   Burt Jones had the heart of a champion Andrew luck did not.   I would take a Burke Jones any day of the week over and Andrew luck.

  6.  But there is a difference in the two.   Burt Jones had the heart of a champion and gave it all he had physically and mentally .   When Andrew luck says he can’t take it mentally anymore I have a problem with that because it shows me where his heart is and that he does not have the heart of a champion.    It’s what Peyton Manning had when he came back from next surgery it’s what Roberto Derann had when he came back after No Mas.    It’s what Rocky Bleier had after he got shot in Vietnam.   These guys were champion and Andrew luck just doesn’t have it .   As a Colts fan for over half of a century I am glad he’s not a quarterback anymore it’s time to find a guy who has the heart to win a Super Bowl .

Luck would be great if he had the damn team around him.

Look at New England. They don't even need a QB but cause the whole team is fantastic all around.

You are right,  they have a great organization.  Our coaching and front office are just bad.  I cant believe how bad this team is and Irsay extends Pagano and Grigsons contracts.  Its obvious that they dont get it.  Team is going in the wrong direction.  Its back to the 80's and 90's again.

  8. I figured that by the time Peyton retires the Colts would have built a great team around Luck.  Hopefully learning the lessons of the team that they built around Peyton.  We were told they were going to build the Monster.  Its been 5 years and this team stinks.  They arnt even close to having a team in the top ten.  Why in the world would Irsay not get rid of Grigson and Pagano.  These guys have no clue.  Im not even sure Im sold on Luck.  He's good but not great.  Colts look terrible on both sides of the ball.  Very depressing.

  9. I think Peyton would be the perfect fit for Offensive coach next year.  What better person to help Luck out.  He could teach Luck so much about how to read defenses.  I think Irsay should pull the trigger on this.

  10. I don't think he's a traitor. He's free to play with whoever is interested. I obviously hate seeing his though.

Lets not forget that it was the Colts who wouldnt allow him to play a last year until he retired.  He's not the traitor.  You are right. i hate seeing it but I appreciate what he has done for this team and will forever be his fan.  Im not happy with the way the Colts organization treats Colt heroes.

  11. The starting o-line will be fine. They are run blocking well-though I don't like the scheme-.  and Mewhort is still learning the RT position.

Good is a possible RT choice later after he develops some if Mewhort shows lack of consistency once the season starts playing through.  He just needs patience to lock it down.

Also remember this group has had what, 5 total drives working together in an actual NFL game setting?  Alot of them either were not on the team, was not starters, or played different positions last year. They need time to build cohesion with each other.

I hope you are right.  Just curious,  would you have taken a WR in the first round?  i just think they didnt need that and they wasted a first rounder.

  12. Since we're now involved in the latest episode of short attention span theater,  may I remind people here that a year ago the Colts went 0-4 in the pre-season.     Winless.

How did the 2014 season turnout?

In short,  don't decide anything based on what you're seeing in the pre-season.     Can we please wait until the regular season starts?     Please?

I didnt see your post.  I agree with you.  This is Pre season.  Not the time to address this.

  13. So does that mean that Andrew isn't allowed to play better football then Peyton until Peyton retires and that we must talk in dark rooms in hushed tones if we have a different opinion on the subject?

Not at all, Its just I feel there is a lot of disrespect towards Peyton and he deserves better.    As a long time Colts fan I remember the many years of terrible teams and Peyton changed all that.  I just dont understand the disrespect coming from some Colts fans.  He still is putting out incredible statistics and is still one of the best in the league.  To say he was ranked number 5 only because of sentimental reasons is ignoring his excellent playing the last few years.  I dont think its time to compare the two QB's because Luck has many years left.  As I said, I think he will get more rings than Peyton because of the team around him.  I do think Luck is a special QB but to disregard what Peyton has done for this team , to me, is disrespectful.

  14. Mannings listing in the top ten is well deserved.   I think Luck is still young and is by far the best QB coming up.  He should win more SB's than Manning just because I think he will have a more well rounded team around him and at the very least, a better Defense.  I think the Colts have some very good years ahead of them.  Im still not happy about their draft choice but what the heck.

  15. You make a darn good point CL. It's the same reason why Peyton Manning is so high annually every year too & is selected to so many ProBowls too. Manning still has skills yes, but the run from say 2004-2009 is more of a memory now than a 2015 SB reality.

That's why I like guys like you, BOTT, Dustin, & Lollygagger8. You have the courage to say what needs to be said. There's no shame in admitting popularity helps. It does & I will give Chewbacca a huge pardon window cause I love the guy. It also explains why I respect Aaron Rogers so much too because he's the exact opposite of Brett Favre.

Manning was in the running for MVP last year before he got hurt.  The year before that I want to see another QB do what he did.  I think people are going to be amazed at his season this year.  I think he plays this year and next and then calls it quits.

  16. Andrew will play better football than Manning this season.

Why is it that people want to disrespect Manning so much.  They are just waiting for him to falter.   Colts were nothing and I mean nothing until Manning came along and deserves alot more respect than he gets.  Andrew is coming into his prime and mannings going the other way.  For Manning at his age to be listed this high tells you what a special QB he has been for all this time.
