  1. Werner looks like a good pick, and Caesar is making himself too noticeable to not make the final 53.  I always thought Nevis was one of the few bright spots of late Polian drafts and I'd like to see him get more opportunities to play when it counts.

    Nevis always gives great effort

  2. There are always two sides of the Polian debate. Yes the positive things you bring up is true. On the flip side is the negatives. For 14 years we did enjoy regular season greatness no doubt. All but two of those years we were all treated to a team that had heartbreaking loses in the playoffs. The Colts dominated a very weak division and it showed in the playoffs. The one and only super bowl happened when lightning stuck and the Colts played as a team. Manning carried this team on his back without help from a balanced team. We lost in the playoffs due to not having the tools to win. Great offence cant overcome a less than average defense, less than average running game and even less special teams play. The old saying every dog has his day is true for the Colts in the two super bowl runs. Polians lifetime record in super bowl bids is 1-17. The Colts will forever be known as the team who couldn't win the ones that counted. Right or wrong success is measured in championships. The Colts had what some would say is one of the greatest QBs in history but very little to show for it but regular season stats. That lays at Polian feet.

PEYTON MANNING JIM KELLY both made POLIAN look LIKE A GENIOUS they covered up many bad drafts the only thing I will say POLIAN was right about is free agency success comes from drafting. Free agency is like a box of chocolates you never no what your going to get
  3. I never thought Garçon was a Colt kind of player. His first TD, he points to his name on the back of his jersey. That's fine if you can back it up but he often couldn't back it up.

Yeah he was all about GARCON

  4. I don't get why people are down on Donald Brown??? Much of it has to do with the line.  Look at the 1995 Colts.  Very good offensive line.  Marshall Faulk did great.  But when he got hurt, LaMont Warren did well.  When he was out, Zack Crocett did well.  Roosevelt Potts did well.   Other than Faulk were any of them great RBs?  No. I think Brown is better than ahy of them save for Faulk.,   There is no way any RB would succeed behind the line we have been rolling out.  I feel confident that this year Brown will do very well because he will get more holes and the offense will not be telegraphed.

I always thought the Colts never put him the right position to succeed he was great at catching out of the backfield
  5. The Colts received Chris Hinton and Mark Herrmann.....along with the gate receipts for 2 pre-season games in Denver. All Accorsi wanted was time. He knew full well Elway wasn't going to Double A. It was always reported he didn't want to play in Baltimore, when it was actually he didn't want to play for Frank Kush. Also, once Carroll Rosenbloom switched franchises in 1972, Rozelle didn't care about Baltimore. His successor showed even more disdain by passing over the city for Jacksonville. He wouldn't listen to the Colts band at the Hall of Fame and basically told Baltimore to pound salt.Tagliabue also treated Unitas like garbage. Not recognizing Unitas' death around the league, while glorifying Jim Brown was a disgrace.

Sorry for the ramble ( and I'm not from Baltimore) but Tagliabue is, was and always will be Rozelle's caddy.Arcosi was smart and was going to wait Elway out But Irsay messed it up

  6. Ernie Accorsi, then the GM of the Colts, now the Giants' GM, confirmed a deal was in place with the Raiders that would have netted Baltimore an unprecedented three No. 1 picks and two No. 2s.

One of the No. 1s, Accorsi said, would have been the sixth overall, which the Raiders had arranged to acquire from the Bears.

Yeah, it's never been written, but I was going to make the deal only if it included getting back a top 10 pick," Accorsi said. "I wanted to make sure we still got (Hall of Fame quarterback) Dan Marino. I wasn't going to trade Elway for anything less than the best package ever."

Pete Rozelle voided the trade," former Raiders personnel man Ron Wolf told The Star-Ledger last week. "We had the trade set up with Baltimore, but Pete wouldn't let it happen."

Rozelle and Raiders owner Davis spent many years in the 1980s in courtrooms over the Raiders' move from Oakland to Los Angeles, among other issues. Simply put, the two didn't like each other.

I remember that and have hated Elway ever since he held out
