  1. I really hope they keep Chick!!

I really do not understand this at all. Chick is not NFL material. He has done virtually nothing since the Colts brought him here. He gets pushed out of plays constantly and is never anywhere around to make a play. Why on earth should the colts waste a roster spot on a guy that brings absolutely nothing. For those of you that want this guy to stick around, I really think you should prepare yourself for dissapointment. I don't there is any way at all this guy makes the roster.

  2. I started too look at the depth chart today and I think it might end up looking like this:

QB (3): Manning, Painter, third QB (could Orvlosky I would hope we sign a guy like Sorgi but with the questions about ManningI think we keep three)

    RB (3): Addai, Brown, Carter

WR (5): Wayne, Garcon, Collie, Gonzo, Smith (White put on IR)

    TE (3): Clark, Tamme, Eldridge

OT (4): Castonzo, Diem, Ijalana, Link

OG (4): Reitz, Pollack, McClendon, Devan

    C (2): Saturday, Richard

DE (5): Freeney, Mathis, Hughes, Chick, Anderson

DT (6): Johnson, Moala, Nevis, Foster, Mathews, Harris

LB (6): Sims, Brackett, Conner, Angerer, Wheeler, Glenn

CB (5): Powers, Lacey, Tryon, Thomas, Rucker

    S (3): Bethea, Bullitt, Lefeged

    K (1): Vinatieri

    P (1): McAfee

    LS (1): Snow

Returner (0): Lefeged (had him on the roster already at safety)

By my math that puts us at 53. I am not the best math person in the world so someone might want to double check that. I will also say I am still leaning towards guys who have been here for a while right now. The next two games could very well change my mind on some of the undrafted rookies.

Im only counting 52 on this roster. I don't think there is any way we keep Chick, he is not NFL material. I think Adrien Moten makes the LBer squad, Richard won't make it, Pollack can and will play center if need be. I believe Tyler Brayton will make it, not sure Foster will.

  3. Yes missed tackles was a problem and I am sure they are going to work on that.

I know the Colts always look bad in preseason, so im not real worried about this yet, but im also so sick of this excuse I could puke. Every yr. we hear the same nonsense about bad tackling. "We'll work on it in practice and get things tightened up". This is a basic fundamental that every one of these guys should have been taught in grade school. There is NO excuse for bad tackling from professional football players. Its just flat out laziness and thats a result from the coaching staff that don't take preseason seriously.

  4. I like what the Colts have done so far this yr.. Were not gonna know how well the defense works till the regular season because as we all know the Colts don't even try in the preseason. It's a philosopy I don't agree with, but thats the way they do it.

  5. This 'theyre not game planning, it's the preseason' garbage has got to stop. I've seen it said in multiple threads. Do you guys really think they are simply throwing the players out there and saying ' go deep' or 'run left'......

They heard Freeney say it after the game friday and now some people are repeating here to make it sound like they know what they are talking about.

  6. If we had even a half way decent backup I don't think the Colts would be nearly as bad as many would think. With Painter running the offense, Yes, they would suck beyond belief and im not sure they would even win 1 game, but with a decent backup I could see 7 or 8 wins. It does show though just how important Manning is and validates that he is without a doubt the best QB to ever play the game. There is not 1 QB in the NFL that does for his team what Manning does for the Colts, not Brady, not Brees, not Rivers, or Rodgers are even in the same league as Manning. Manning has played his entire career with a joke of a defense.

  7. We will lose very game that Painter starts. If he played all 16 games he would have 3 touchdowns 30 interceptions and an accuracy of 20%

You're giving him way too much credit. No way he would have 3 TD's and 30 int. is huge under estimation. More like 60-70 int's with an accuracy of 7% or less.

  8. If Irsay is indeed serious about getting a veteran QB, which I have serious doubts about, then Bulger(if he would unretire) or Sorgi would be the best options. Sorgi never lit it up by any means, but compared to Painter, he looks like a superstar.

  9. Im not trying to defend Painter in the least, he is flat out terrible, but it wasn't just him that looked bad. Our 1st string defense was an embarrassment. The Redskins 1st drive, the long run from scrimmage, Freeney was completely manhandled to open that gigantic gaping hole and none of the other d-line were even close.

  10. The bow downs thru out the message CLASSIC !

I don't expect painter to be great, definately he's not peyton. I would however like to see a pulse i;e somekind of growth as a qb. I actually would like to see him do well, but I can understand fans frustration. I guess it really "IS WHAT IT IS" No peyton we could careless what happens it's over anyway. I don't like that attitude, even though it is the truth. I would like to see painter get more reps though, maybe that's the plan since davis is gone. :1colts:

I don't think anybody wants to see the guy fail. I've actually met Painter and he's a nice guy. I would like to see the light come on for him and see him succeed, but I just don't see it happening for him. He still looks like every game is his very 1st and he makes terrible reads and throws. This is all I was trying to tell the other guy that defends him endlessly. Its great that he roots for him, but nobody can honestly say that he has shown any growth as an NFL QB at all.

  11. Where does this stuff come from? Two years ago we went to the Super Bowl. Last year, we were destroyed by injuries and still made the playoffs. So now we bring back pretty much the same core team, the injuried players are back, and we had a terrific draft. I expect that Colts to be better then ever. Not sure what he is talking about.

Just another dumb talking head trying to be the Nostradamous of the football world. Like I said one of these days one of them will be right and they'll look like a genius to their co-workers and they will all praise this all knowing sorcerer.

  12. I don't care when so called "experts" talk crap about the Colts. They are wrong most of the time and they are the one's who look like *. Were all Colts fans and you know one day one of these * is gonna be right. None of us want to face the fact that the colts will come crashing back down to earth someday and have a bad season. I don't think it will be this yr., but since we have yet to play a meaningful game, im not gonna guarantee it.

  13. How can they work in the summer? They have practice..

I was not aware they had practice from the time they get up of a morning till the time they hit the bed at night. It makes ya wonder just how so many of them find the time to get in trouble with them at practice 16/17 hrs. a day.

  14. How many passes as Taj caught from QBs not named Painter?

Don't really understand the point of this question, but Taj has never really had much of a chance to prove himself. If the colts do end up signing TJ I will root for him to rehabilitate his career, but my point is he hasn't been good since he left Cincy and I don't think he would be an improvement over Taj at this point in their careers.

  15. basically you just admitted that, it has alot to do with it cause that says you havent seen much of painter at all and just going by what other fans say... you will only see what you wanna see, especially if your not open minded. painter is not a bad backup, we will all see that tomorrow.

I admitted to nothing. I watched Painter in college and he wasn't that bad(not good), but not horrible. That don't mean that will translate into a decent pro career and so far, clearly it hasn't. I don't mind if you like the guy and root for him, thats great if thats what you want to do, but to try and justify to others thats he's better than he really is just insults others intelligence. I have been a Colts fan since the day they moved to Indy and a football fan in general for over 30 yrs.. Im not trying to claim expert status but I know that Painter has not ever had to earn his spot. He was handed the backup job and the team has hoped he would be able to handle it. So far he has not.
