  1. You have more cuts to make as you have more than 53. I will say that you have at least 10 incorrections because of that.

I don't believe all your practice squad players meet the rules.

There is only 53 there, some names are repeated for different posistions.

  2. your hatred of John Chick doesn't go unnoticed around here. but even though John has outplayed Jerry, since he is a 1st round, we don't dump him?

How embarrassing that a CFL DPOY can show up a 1st round DE.

Its not hatred. Its the fact that its a numbers game. If it wasn't for the fact that I know we'll hang on to Hughes then yeah, I say keep him around, but I just don't think its gonna happen. Also Brayton and Anderson are bigger guys that will help the D-line in the run game, that was apparent in the GB game. Both can slide inside if they have to on passing downs, therefore giving the D-line a better rotation and keeping them fresh. Chick just doesn't fit in due to numbers.

  3. He's wrong on so many its not even funny. We won't cut Painter, Hughes, Pollock, Brown, Gonzo, and I don't think we keep Chick. I do however, like that he kept Matthews, Brayton, and Anderson. Matthews is our only legitimate backup NT and Anderson and Brayton have done well in limited action and bring more to the table than Foster and Chick.

  4. This is how they are coached to play. It don't matter who starts because they would be doing the exact same thing. I'll agree that Lacey is not exactly great, but thats the way they are taught and every one of our CB's play the same way.

  5. I can't believe anybody would vote for Painter. Jesus, people the starters are barely gonna play at all and if Collins is gonna be the starter week 1 then he needs to at least get a few reps with the 1st team offense in game action. If Collins had to go into week 1 without any time at all with the starters except in practice, the 1st game could be a disaster. He actually needs a lot more time than he will ever get the chance to have since like I said, the starters will barely play.

  6. Brown was a not a good pick, IMO, and I have explained why. But Hughes was an excellent pick and he's been playing very well in the preseason (people will disagree because they look at his stats). That does not mean he does everything perfect, he is still making mistakes but that is to be expected, he's a second year player who doesn't get a lot of game time because he's behind two pro-bowlers. And for those that say Chick is outplaying him, Chick is doing well but he's not outplaying Hughes, too many people confuse movement for production and that is not the case. Chick gets out of position about 30% more than Hughes in the preseason games so far this year. Plus AC is already proving to be a good pick.

Thank you for pointing this out. I was beginning to think I was the only one that was paying attention. It seems like people have fell in love with Chick like many have for Foster. I appreciate the hustle they show but there are better players that bring more versatility to the team.

  7. If any so called sports analyst forms an opinion on how good or bad any team is in preseason then they should be fired. Its just like if you watched the Detroit and New England game last night, Detroit absolutey kicked the crap out of the Pats, but do I believe that Detroit is actually that much better than the Pats? Absolutely not! I can't even listen to any of these * anymore, everytime I know they are gonna talk about the Colts I turn the channel, it is just that stupid.

  8. Collins is taking $4M of that, so I think we have roughly $3M left over. I think we will save it in case we need a mid-season signing due to an injured player. I don't wanna put all of our eggs into one basket and be screwed if someone gets injured. That's my :2c: anyway

Yeah, I couldn't remember if the 7 mil was before or after Collins. I do think there is a chance there could be some tinkering with the roster after the cuts are made from other teams, but it won't be anything big.

  9. Most of the money (around $10 mil) will be given to him in his second year if he is still on the team. He will definitely be gone by then, there is no way he stays on the Colts with that kind of cap hit. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get cut before the season starts. Would he still count against the cap if he is released before the season?

I don't think there is any way Collins is getting cut before this season. That would be colossally stupid on the Colts part even if Peyton is mostly healthy by then.

  10. 1.Painter did just enough to save his job---(Painter completed just over 50 percent of his passes, for 171 yards, including two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Not great, but not awful either.)

2.The right side of the O-Line is Solid---(Joseph Addai had huge holes to run through on the right side to start the game.)

3.Jacob Lacey Needs to Improve---(acob Lacey looked bad —really bad —against the Packers.

He was consistently beaten by the bigger, faster Packers receivers. )

4.Delone Carter will play and be a threat in our Offense---(No player has impressed me more for the Colts this preseason than Delone Carter.

When Carter came into the game, the running game immediately improved.)

5.D-line Is Fierce---(When you add Tommie Harris, Jamaal Anderson, and Drake Nevis to an already solid pass rush, the sky is the limit.)

    Do you agrree?

oh yea and CHip Vaughn will be cut maybe even jerry hughes everyone did good to me except them 3

Well, I don't agree on everything. Right side of o-line was good on run blocking but Linkinpuke sucks on pass blocking.

I don't think anybody else would have been better in Lacey's spot. I keep saying, its not the personel, it is the coaching. When you're taught to play 10 yds. off a reciever nobody is gonna be very good. Just dumb coaching in my opinion.

And I really wish people would quit saying Hughes might get cut(not just you by any means). Hughes is not gonna get cut. You can book it right now, won't happen.

  11. I honestly do not think the personel is the problem. It is how they are coached to play the posisiton. It don't matter who is playing the posisition as long as they are taught to give a 10 yd. cushion.

  12. You are not a Colts hater if, as a long-time(50+ years) fan of football and great teams, and you see obvious deficiencies and faults and get frustrated when they are repeated over and over. The Colts dependence on this soft non-aggressive Tampa 2 defense has prevented the Colts from having multiple SB rings during a time when they have had the greatest QB in NFL history. Freeney & Mathis must be really frustrated that they have to carry the D with little help from any blitz packages and countless missed arm tackles from the Colts secondary. The Tampa 2 as coached by Croyer & Caldwell is more like a "Prevent Defense" that only prevents the Colts from winning the "Big" games against the good QB's in the league- like Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Vick, etc. Can anyone be a fan of Coaches that allow a 4th and 8 conversion for a 1st down that leads to a score in the 1st half? Yes its preseason, but those of us that have been around for awhile and respect the talent and effort of future Hall-of-Famers like Freeney are not fans of seeing their efforts come to naught by being misused by lame coaching philosophies and being asleep at the switch during a game (preseason or not), when you are supposed to be "in charge" of calling the shots. How did Coach "On-side" Caldwell not know an on-side kick was coming( after a successful 2-point play), when everybody(old enough to be out of diapers) in this country that was watching this game, knew the Pack was kicking it on-side? You'd think by being embarassed in the SB by the Saints doing this, any self-respecting Coach with any pride, would make sure it never happened again. As far as cutting Caldwell some slack he was 14-2 with a team that he didn't build- Dungy did, with an Offense run by Coach Moore and he got out-coached in the SB and every important game since. Since Irsay & Polian seem satisfied with mediocre coaching, I guess we'll have to put up with it- but we don't have to like it and that doesn't makes us less of a fan than someone that is willing to accept less than someone's best effort. Pre-season or not, the Pack are the defending NFL Champs and the Colts should have beaten them

I agree that Caldwell should have known the on-side kick was coming, and I'll also agree that Caldwell's record don't truely reflect on what kind of coach he is. In fact, many people will say Gruden don't deserve credit for Tampa's super bowl, but in the same breath say Caldwell deserves the credit for the Colts 14-2 record with a super bowl appearance, but thats in the past now and I really don't care anymore.

My biggest problem with the Colts defense is how they defend the pass, or really lack there of, I really think if the Colts could learn to play pass defense they would be a very effective defense in general. There is nothing more frustrating to me watching this team chase the QB out of the pocket just to have him throw the ball downfield and complete a pass with the CB's standing 7 yds. behind the reciever waiting for him to catch the ball before they make their break.

  13. Hughes would make it, not sure about Brown. This is only the start of Hughes' 2nd season. No way do you give up on him already. Thats why I laugh when people suggest we keep Chick over Hughes. Chick is almost 29 yrs. old with no NFL experience and Hughes just barely turned 23. I know Hughes has struggled so far but he has a lot of time to improve. Chick has reached his potential and thats not much.

  14. I think we are done signing people. We don't need to go look for a NT to sign unless we have injuries in camp. As of now, I am fine with who we have on the roster. The D-line played pretty well last night.

I don't think were done signing people. Over the next couple of weeks there are gonna be a lot of cuts and some of them could be guys we could use.

  15. The DT's done pretty good last night as long as the right one's are in there. In my opinion the best DT's on the roster are Harris and Nevis. Johnson and Moala done ok, but nothing special. I liked the hustle of Gil, and once again I will say what many don't like to hear, but Foster should not be in the DT rotation.

  16. Two different positions, they won't be competing against each other. There's some good competition across the D-Line this year. Chick has outplayed Hughes, but he probably won't win a spot. Harris looked decent and has experience, Anderson is on the bubble IMHO.

You might be right, but I think it plays into Anderson's and Brayton's favor that the Colts seem to want to get bigger across the d-line and having them play the end posistions during run plays to give Freeney and Mathis a rest will help them. Either one could also slide inside during passing downs.

  17. Our first unit gaved up 150 yards and 10 points in the first qtr. I don't see how that's looking good. While they looked improved (consider what we are comparing to). but that first quarter and halfway through the second qtr was domination by the Packers over our defense. We were fortunate to only be down by 3 at the half.

Im gonna agree with you here. Sometimes I wonder if people are watching the same game I was. Our Defense didn't look very good at all in the 1st qtr. I will say they done good in run defense, but in reality the Packers barely ran the ball at all. Heck, even the announcers mentioned that our d-line was giving Rodgers all day to throw the ball and how that was unusual for a Colts defense.

Colts fans have a tendancy to overexagerate the play of our defense when they are playing just ok. I guess thats because we are use to terrible defense. The defense was much better against the Packers 2nd unit, but im not sure thats anything to get real excited about. The pass defense was an absolute joke and an embarrassment in the 1st half.

  18. He will make the cut to 80, but he will be gone when we play the Texans.

Im not so sure about that. He has shown flashes of being pretty good. In my opinion he is a more valuable asset than Foster, although I know a lot of people don't agree with that. I have never understood the love affair people have with Foster. The few plays he makes does not make up for the many many other times he gets pushed around like a rag doll.

  19. Keeper - Brooks, The kid made a couple of good hands catches and at 6'2" makes a big target.

Keeper - Harris, will do an excellent job on the defensive line rotation with Nevis, Moala

    and Johnson.

    Goner - Vaughn, nuff said.

Goner - Ricardo Matthews, absolutely no penetration against 3rd stringers.

    Who ya got???

Matthews isn't going anywhere. Espesially if you're just talking about the cut down to 80.

Right now I think there is 88 on the roster so only 8 people will be cut and those will be people that haven't really spent much time on the field. The exception being Vaughn, he is as good as gone. I also expect Hartline to be gone this rd. of cutdowns, the others would just be a guess.
