  1. Collins is insurance. That's it. Painter won't be going anywhere. We aren't going to give a permanent roster spot to a 16 year veteran back up.

Are you trying to say they just signed Collins to finish out the preseason. Yeah, I don't think so! Painter's not getting cut, but Collins will be here this season at least until they are sure Manning is absolutely, unquestionably 100% healthy.

  2. "I don't care who you are, I mean I'm not going to let anyone just come in here and just push someone (like Painter) aside like you're that dog now, you know what I mean?" Wayne added.

Really? Is wayne making the personel decisions now? Im sure Collins has some work to do and im guessing Painter still starts the game friday, but it sure won't last any longer than that.

  3. I wont call this a good signing at all until collins puts on a uniform and plays.... he did lose his job with the titans so fans need not expect any thing thats close to great numbers.

Im curious, whats it gonna take for you to admit what everybody else already knows, that Painter is a horrible QB?

  4. Right, all true. But I'm simply asking if anyone has heard anything from the Colts FO? Do we really expect to? I doubt it.

They just said "Colt sources told Mortenson he won't be ready for the Texans". Again, can you imagine the Colts giving out that type of information? This is the same media that ran with a joke tweet as if it were Word.

Still all speculation until we see a starting lineup on 9/11.

You're right. I said the same thing on another forum. No way has anybody of any importance told Mort that Manning isn't going to be ready week 1. This is just total speculation on Mort's part. Im not saying that Manning is definitely going to play, but I would still say it's about 90% he will.

  5. The colts dont need chick for special teams, there are gonnna be alot of touchbacks anyway, moten made a good play hopefully he does show more in the packers game thats if he gets the chance to play... with sims idk about that.

while I don't share your enthusiasm for Painter, I do agree with you here. Chick should not make the team. Combined with Freeney, Mathis, and Hughes that is too many players with the same skill set. Mathis and Freeney are already liabilities in run defense so to keep another guy(besides Hughes) that would be another liability is just not smart.

I do think adrian Moten has stood out in his playing time so far, so I would like to see him stick somehow.

  6. Jamey Richard could be a goner at this point. I think Gilreath and Evans make the team leaving Moore out in the cold. Gonzo is gone unless he gets healthy and has a productive last game. Overall it'll look like this.

    QB Manning Orlovsky Painter

RB Addai Brown Carter James Evans

    LWR Wayne Gilreath

    RWR Garcon

    SWR Collie

    TE Clark Tamme Eldridge McNeill

    LT Castonzo Linkenbach

    LG Reitz McClendon

    C Saturday Kirkpatrick

    RG Polak DeVan

    RT Diem Ijalana

    LE Matis Brayton

    UT Nevis Moala Foster

    NT Johnson

    RE Freeney Chick Hughes

    SLB Angerer Wheeler Moten

    MLB Bracket Angerer

    WLB Conner Sims Moten

    LCB Lacey Tryon Rucker

    SS Bullitt Lefeged

    FS Bethea Caldwell

    RCB Powers Thomas

    K Vinateri

    P McAfee

    LS Snow

    PR Gilreath

    KR Gilreath Garcon

Edit: I can't respond for 24hrs but I forgot to put that White starts the year on PUP. Also, I think there will be more moves once other teams start cutting players.

    This isn't gonna happen!

  7. The only reason Lefeged didn't get drafted in the 3rd or 4th rd. is because of his size. He's a little small for a SS and most teams don't give smaller guys a chance. I think he fits perfectly for the Colts defense. He has all the talent needed to play the posisiton, before the draft I said he remainded me of Bob Sanders with his style of play, I just hope he's not made of glass like Bob is.

  8. alright, alright. am i holding out a little hope for a guy i watched here at home for years? sure. did i over-exaggerate with "beast"? sure. i may have a bias. I was actually ready to accept that he wouldn't make the team until the redskins performance (and if he was cut wanting the Riders to pick him up, we stink this year and could use him back). a glimmer of hope for the upcoming GB game.

There is nothing wrong with holding out hope. I just think for them to keep Chick they would almost have to be willing to cut ties with Hughes, and I just don't see that happening.

  9. I find it ridiculous that folks want to keep piling on Orlovsky for that mistake, as funny as it was. Even Orlovsky said he felt like an * for it. Stuff happens.

For what it's worth, Orlovsky's career QB rating is 71.3. That's still a heckuva lot higher than Painter's. Nobody's confusing Orlovsky with John Kitna. I'm simply saying he deserves a look with the first team. If he performs better than Painter, I say move him up the depth chart.

I agree, but I don't think it will happen. I think the Coaching staff wants to prove to people that Painter can actually handle the job no matter how many times Painter keeps proving he can't.

  10. watching the news last night and mr.painter stated he did,nt have to prove anything to anyone....well i think u do if you dont have the have the 12th man behind u it will be a long day..but maybe ur wright so far u havent proved anything...

He's probably right. The Colts aren't going to cut him and he knows that, therefore, he really don't have to prove anything. If you know you already have the job what motivation does he have to improve?

  11. balzer doesn't want to admit it. CFL bias maybe?

There's nothing to admit except that Chick isn't that good. He has essentially the same skill set as Mathis, Freeney, and Hughes, except not nearly as good as Mathis and Freeney. I would say that unless the Colts are willing to part ways with Hughes that chick won't make the team. To keep 4 guys that bring the same skill set on the D-line is not a wise choice. Just not that many roster spots to keep 4 guys that do the exact same thing.

  12. Why are you so certain John Chick is not very good at rushing the QB?

I just watched the Redskins game replay, Chick played a lot and he looked great!

    Always disrupting the offensive plays.

Like I said in my other post, He has been going against lower level talent in preseason. If he had to go against other teams starting OT's I don't think his pass rush moves(or lack there of) will have the same impact. My whole point about Chick is there are more versatile guys that bring more to the table. There are only so many roster spots and IMO Chick shouldn't get one.

  13. Anderson has been a bust since he came into the league and is not known to get much of a pass rush.

Since joining the Colts he has been injured.

OK Brayton is new, and I liked him with Oakland, but he is not a pure pass rusher either.

There are two games left. Lets see who plays the best.

One thing we dont need is more guys that are always hurt.

True, that Anderson was not much of a pass rusher from the outside but when atlanta played him at the tackle spot he was much better. I don't know the extent of his injury so im willing to wait and see. I just don't think people are taking into account that Chick has been going against 3rd and 4th stringers in the preseason. To give him a roster spot over more versatile guys is a bad idea in my opinion.

  14. I do see him get pushed around some just like all are ends do including Freeney & Mathis both pro bowlers!!!!!!! Are you trying to tell me Gill is better or Anderson or Brayton. None of those guys have the same motor & honestly I see him around the ball a great deal & he does get pressure on the QB. HE may be a liability against the run, but could make a nice backup pass rusher & give are guys a breather. We could use Foster verse the run as a backup end. Chick also has value as a special teams player as well. Chick did nothing last year because he was on the practice squad :hello:

We don't know about Anderson or Brayton. Anderson has yet to play because of an injury and Brayton had less than 1 week of practice in a new system. So yeah, I think they could bring more to the table than Chick. They are both bigger that can play inside or outside. They can pass rush from the inside and defend the run from the DE posisiton. Much more versatile than Chick who is a one trick pony, and not very good at that.

  15. Yeah, someone pointed out that play to me, so when I watched it again I focused on Harris as much as possible. Outside of that one play, I still didn't see anything impressive.

Before I was just talking about DTs, I think the Colts will have 11 dlineman because Coyer likes to use different packages based on down and distance, 6 DTs and 5 DEs.

It will really be interesting to see what they do with Anderson. Things sounded good in training camp but he got injured before the 1st game and has not played since. I know a lot of people like Foster but, IMO, both Mathews and Gill offer the same as Foster and both of them are bigger and stronger.

Thank you, I've been saying this for a while, but it seems like Foster must be related to a lot of people on this forum.

  16. so other than Freeney and Mathis, our DE depth is messed up. thats what you are saying, right? you think they are keeping Anderson?

We have yet to even see Anderson play, but yeah, I think they will keep him and Brayton over Chick. Somebody said Brayton didn't impress him, but the guy just signed a week ago. Less than a week of practice in a new system and people are saying he's no good. I respect most of the posts made here but some people are just :loco: .

  17. cause Hughes has been unstoppable, right? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

face it: you have a Jerry Hughes hard on and are mad that other DE's are out-camping him.

What was laughable was you calling Chick a "beast". The dude gets blown out of posistion 98% of the time and he's a "beast". Good lord! I will be the 1st to admit Hughes is not very good, but I also know enough to know Chick is not an upgrade. He's going against 3rd stringers for crying out loud and still losing most of the time.

  18. No way Foster gets cut.

I don't why people are so sure of this. Seems to me the Colts are wanting to get bigger on the D-line. He may make it, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he is let go. Of course some people want to keep Chick too and I don't see that happening at all. Chick is not worth a roster spot, he has done nothing since being here. This is all a moot point anyway because as other teams make cuts we could bring in some of those players and the roster will be changing for a while.

  19. Yes, because Polian likes clip-holding QB's who look silly on the sidelines and get paid peanuts. For the Colts backup QB position, the better you play, the more likely you'll get fired! Sad, but seemingly true. Painter and Orlovsky are in a competition to see who plays worse.

There's some truth to that. Last yr. Brandstater outplayed Painter by a country mile and we all know where that got him.
