  1. LOL, yeah we saw quite a bit of Landry when he was with the Jets. Guy can lay a hit with the best of 'em but he does play with sort of a reckless abandon that finds him out of position a lot. Great two-down safety but a liability in coverage.

He can lay a hit but he only connects with a player when trying to lay that hit 1 out of 10 times.

  2. And to the OP's premise, I do think the Steelers were intent on scoring until the final bell, since the Colts have shown an ability to comeback from large deficits. They were right on point with the first drive of the second half, like they knew the importance of scoring a TD right away. They deserve a lot of credit for playing such a good game.

    this and more of this

  3. You do realize that the Steelers where never really ahead by 17 to 21 points for very long.  Luck actually kept us within 2 scores for most of the game despite the fact that the defense could never stop the Steelers.

And I don't think most teams take their foot off the gas until they are about 30 points ahead.  And even then it needs to be near the end of the game.

Teams go into a ball control mode in the second half up by 10.

  4. Brother I sure wouldn't want to face the road ahaid without Toler . V.D. best we have but Toler is much better than what we had in the past and IMO is very good and as long as healthy improving.

Toler is very under rated in my opinion. He gets picked on so much because people are staying away from Vontae.

He is suffering from reverse Alvin Harper

  5. Now I know I will get more than a few to just read the title and not the actual post so stay with me here people.

Andrew Luck has the clutch gene, he has the ability to come back in any situation and almost did it Sunday, he was well on his way to another Andrew Luck WOW moment. So Because of this Pittsburgh never took their foot off the gas thus resulting in at least 1/3 of Ben's big day.  I think we will see more of this over Luck's career.  Usually when teams jump up 17-21 points they take go conservative and settle it down and move into a ball control shell.  That is not the way you win a game against this Colts team. They way you beat him (Luck) is to never rest on the points you have just keep trying for more.

  6. Well it's more complex then that.  To me TY fits into a stable of WR's and TE's that makes the offense more effective and allows him to make plays in the open field.  Basically having a bunch of different receivers who can compliment each other is better then having individual stars at receiver.

However if you are looking at individual stars for this year only.  (A couple of those guys are on the wrong side of 30 and in that case I'd take TY long term, but for this year only I would take.)

    Calvin Johnson

    D Thomas

    J Jones

    AJ Green

    J Nelson

    A Jeffery

    S Watkins

    A Johnson

    D Bryant

    B Marshall

    Steve Smith

No they don't have the yardage he does, but most save for D Thomas and J Nelson play for worse QB's.  J Nelson is the only WR who has more yards then TY and D Thomas is hurt some by being surrounded by a lot of talented WR's and TE's.

But like I said TY fits in well with Wayne, Allen Fleener, NIcks and even to some extent Richardson and Bradshaw that it works really well.

Not a bad list but Steve Smith?  That's really the only one I question you on.

  7. Only problem with TY is he doesn't get in the endzone very often.  He's small and doesn't get many looks in the redzone.

He doesn't get many looks because we have so many other choices who are better choices than he is.  You don't need to score a ton of touchdowns to be a top receiver in this league in my opinion.

He will learn the body corner like Marvin did so I think that will come into his game.

I feel like he is a top 10 receiver.  Just as an exercise for those who don't, who are the 10 receivers you would take over him?

  8. While the hit was phenomenal my favorite part of it was it showed that you can still hit big while being clean.

This D played great today and I think Vontae and Toler are playing fantastic.  Gordy played a good game as well.

  9. The aggressive play calling and blitzing has been a huge factor on 3rd down, QB's have to throw it a second or two faster then they normally do. Back shoulder fades and passes to RB's has been the only thing working and fades are difficult passes. We have great CB play, I'll take my chances blitzing and leaving Davis on an island then I will rushing just four and playing it safe.

That's it - we have good corners and on third downs they are playing tight knowing Odds are very good that I only have to play coverage for 3 seconds so I don't have to really worry about the deep ball or the double move. I just have to give the appearance of covered to the quarterback for a split second as he rushes through his progressions because he knows he doesn't have much time at all.

  10. RJF has played great in his absence and I think that this has been good for his (RJF's) fit in this D.  Jones coming back will only help and I would like for RJF to start the first game Jones is available.
