There was really no option on Paye

    It was the right move

    He has improved every year

    Is he elite? Nope

I hope he has a fantastic year

Yeah, the option just makes a ton of sense. It’s affordable, he’s got good praise for his off-seasons efforts to improve and he and Dayo were heading into a contract year. We can’t expect Latu to go out year one and get double digit sacks (but then again…) so not forcing ourselves into a really tough decision next off-season frees us up to have options.

    1. Extend dayo

    2. Extend Kwity

    3. draft/trade for/sign replacement for one of them

as opposed to having to find a solution for both. And then we could extend Kwity during the season this year or year after next.

I think you will see a good year from our current CBs

I would LOVE to have no major holes going into next years draft (It MIGHT happen)

If we end up drafting top 5, we SHOULD have a new GM

However.......I see us drafting in the 20s

And take BPA, or trade back

That’s my hope at least. We feel, more than any year in recent memory, primed to possibly go into next year’s off-season with no major holes (assuming we re-sign our FAs or our depth looks ready to step up). That lets us take BPA or try again to move up for an elite prospect. But there are a lot of IFs here (IF our DBs have an improved year. IF we don’t have any major fall offs in performance. IF we don’t have any late season major injuries, IF our rookies this coming year show us their trajectory is still high.

I would classify myself as cautiously amped moving forward haha.

That's actually not true. WR in R2 and R3 is actually the best value. PFF had a stat for drafts after 2015 and the drop off in R2 and R3 producing starters was the smallest at WR than in any other position. It was something like:

    WR:

    R1: 60%

    R2 and R3: 50%

In comparison for EDGE the stats were something along the lines of:

    R1:60%

    R2:25%

So ... purely analytically, the Colts did the right thing if you believe in the player you took... which I personally love Latu so no objections on my end. And usually day 2 is golden for WRs compared to other position.

Well said. I get that everyone has their preferences but our biggest needs are less like holes and more like a need for premium upgrades. The three biggest areas we could probably use upgrades seems to be almost universally accepted as WR, CB, and edge. It’s hard enough as is to think we will find a premium upgrade for each of these with just the first 3-4 rounds. But it becomes even harder when you factor, as you said, that finding an upgrade at edge becomes much harder outside the first round. Despite this, we still tried to get a weapon. It didn’t work out. But we still seem on course to really have a chance to makes some improvements to this roster.

  4. Nice! I hope they do another after the draft. It’s always fun seeing them discuss the their convictions and their reactions on draft night. As well as getting a first look at the new rookies coming in. Not much to gather from this video but it’s always a little reassuring to see those guys hard at work and I like that they have installed a culture where they really test each other.

  5. Bowers. May not be the most likely choice but it doesn’t seem as unlikely as I once thought it was. The teams that might take him have bigger roster holes than I think we do. They might pass in favor of OT, Edge, CB or whatever. We are the team in that range that I think can best afford to spend a pick on a TE. It just depends on how special these teams think he is.

One way or another I love our draft position. We’re gonna land either him, a great DE prospect, Brian Thomas, or a top corner. And I’d be happy with any of those. There is good depth to this draft and I think we can address many of our weaknesses throughout.

@funktacious2 As you weren't available and hadn't sent any preferred choices (I could've missed), I had chosen these selections for Jaguars.

As only Colts selected after your picks, if you would like to choose different players

From the list of players available in Big Board, you can feel free to post your picks.

anyway you decide, please confirm the selections.

Thank you for the selections, I had planned to double up on o-line, so this is perfect.

    Awesome, and  :thanks:

Would you like to be GM for the division rivals, Jacksonville Jaguars? Other choice would be Pittsburgh Steelers, who have fewer draft picks than Jaguars.

And, the draft is scheduled to take place in the evenings 7 pm EDT to not later than 10 pm EDT, starting from April 2nd, coming Tuesday.

    I can take the Jags!

  8. I get your point, but what does it achieve? It’s not abnormal to rally behind and invest in a 1st round QB. You don’t use the 4th overall pick and then just not spend resources to set them up to be your franchise guy. Yeah, sometimes it doesn’t work out and GMs lose their jobs over it. And yes, some people are already sold that he’s gonna be elite, but generally most people are just intrigued and see the potential. I’m actually less concerned at this point on how he develops than I am with him staying healthy this year. We’ll never know who he really is if he doesn’t play.
