Only thing I can think of was he had so many receivers open, he didn't have to hold the ball.

My daughter and I were at the game. She will only watch parts of games with me and doesn't pay attention otherwise.

She was able to tell Carr was throwing it to whoever Brown was covering a lot.

  2. Any Colts shirt I wear on game day during a win is hung back in the closet unwashed, to be worn until it causes a loss'

If a shirt causes a loss it is taken out of the rotation for several games Off the top of my head,. I think I have 7 shirts to try before I go back to the one that won two in a row.

Lol.  Well I was super competitive on a personal level.  And as coach lol.  Anyone who knows me when I competed and coached knows I was pretty into winning lol.

As a parent with my athlete sons, winning isn’t as paramount.  I have one son who is a good soccer player for a top 5-10 program in Indiana, and he’s sometimes overly competitive to where losses hurt him more than is good and he feels like a loser.  I have another son who just had better talent in areas outside of athletics.

as a fan of a pro team I just want the best possible outcome.  Best possible outcome in 97 was losing.  Best possible outcome in 2011.

If we are out of the race in 3 weeks the best possible outcome is to lose more games to draft higher.

I understand how some feel, but I don’t much deal in feelings when it comes to watching grown men I have no relationship play ball lol.  That really seems like it should end by the end of high school to me lol.  I mean I have no input into the team with the exception of 4-8 cheap tix a season lol.

So if we drop out of the race, I think the best thing for the future of this club would be the best possible draft position and it doesn’t affect me when anonymous internet posters think that’s a losers’ mentality.

Makes me think they never competed much themselves because if they had and had any success at all, they’d likely know the difference lol.

I was joking, I let my daughter win a lot when she was growing up.

I understand people who want the Colts to lose for a better draft pick, and don't get mad because they think that way.

I'm just too much of a knucklehead I guess.

Why do you think you are an authority on what people should do or shouldn't do?  I think you must have an overinflated sense of righteousness.

It's in the interest of winning sometimes that it's good for the club to lose.  Short term loss for long term gain.

It's not fun to lose.  But sometimes in the NFL it's necessary in order to reset the roster.  Not quite, but almost without exception, bad rosters, bad teams, bad orgs are only reset by a great QB and other top of the draft type of talent.  Sometimes this type of talent falls later.

I get what you are saying. Butttttt and its a huge but. I can't stand to see my team lose week in week out. Too competitive.

I had a hard time as a Dad letting my kids win. :funny:

Just substitute the name Garrett for Jefferson and that is what that game looked like on Sunday.

This pic means a lot to you if you are around my age lol.  Right when cable came out lol.

I don’t have an issue with this play.  Looks like illegal contact per NFL rules.  Possibly could be interpreted as receiver initiating contact, could have been pocketed with the sack.

The PI was astounding.  Tried to screen shot where the ball was as the receiver is heading OB and then where it lands.  File too big.  But check it out.

    Catchable they say lol.

For clarity, I am laughing at the Fast Times reference.

I didn't catch the explanation on the ineligible downfield call. The guy was clearly more than 1 yard past the line of scrimmage when the pass was thrown, so I don't understand why they picked it up.

One of the announcers said  it was because the pass was completed behind the line of scrimmage.

I wasn't aware that made a difference. Anybody know if it does?

    Scratch that.

That is just 1st downs total. Didn't see the 3rd down qualifier initially.

This year he has 6 so far.

    Downs has 9.

May or may not reflect yesterday's game. Downs added a couple more.

In 2021 he had 19 first downs on 25 3rd down catches.

Only 2 years I could find on quick search.

    Appreciate the numbers.

It does, huge bummer….but he’s right, not being given enough targets and being assigned  to other duties when you’re a receiver that is known to win 50/50 catches would get old fast. Hope they get it figured out.

@Kyle and all you other non believers you may just get your wish. He’ll ball out somewhere else with the right QB.

    I want to keep Pitt.

I would be interested to know how many catches he has made on third down to move the chains in his career.

His downfield blocking is also something that is hard to replace.

That does sound pretty bad. Be happy for your team mate. Especially when colts offense looked that good.  I think that could be the one reason he leaves. But he needs to be careful because you could put yourself on a bad team.

He is used to being the focus in the passing game.  Minshew is spreading the ball around more than Wentz and Ryan.

He had another opportunity to score, but dropped a tough catch. Late 3rd, early fourth quarter?

I think that was also the game where a Colt had deflected a pass but since the receiver had gone out of bounds and come back in before the ball was tipped, he technically wasn't the first to touch it so it was counted as a touchdown. Really was a super gift to the niners. But that's the way it goes in the nfl. The Colts NEVER would have gotten that same break.

    Probably was.

I just remember that Niners receivers could push off (Ala Michael Irvin) and never get called, but our Dbs got flagged anytime SF needed bailed out.

Peyton's rookie year, so maybe that loss allowed us to draft Edge? Looking for a silver lining I guess.

Was that the same game when the SF receiver ran out the back of the end zone to get around the ref and then came back in an caught the "winning" TD?

You are thinking of the 95 AFC championship game Vs Steelers. It was Kordell Stewart.

The S.F. game JJ Stokes engaged Jeff Burris head on, pushed him 5 yards into the end zone. Burris picked the pass, but got flagged for P I.  I remember there were other calls as well.

  13. I always felt that Minshew was more of a I won't wow you, but I won't make the big mistake kind of guy.

That's why Sunday's game shocked me.

I don't blame him for the strip sack, but had never seen him throw passes directly to defenders. Is Jville that good that they fooled him 7 or 8 times, or was it just a freak bad day at the office?

I LOVED Bob Lamey - and - feel he got "the shaft" for a situation that had happened years earlier!!

The ten second delay makes it IMPOSSIBLE to keep things straight with the radio broadcast and watching on TV.

You know what's going to happen - before it happens - which is a good thing.  You can start cheering at the top of your lungs - making the people down the hall wonder what's going on!!

    LOLOLOLOL!!

Over the years when I was unable to watch, and had missed part of a game, I could tune in and know in a hurry how the game was going. Bob was a die hard colts fan first and foremost, so his tone was easy to read.

Matt Taylor is ok, but nobody will ever be Bob in my book.

I start out my Colts gameday by watching "Countdown to Kickoff" on WISH-TV.  Then switching at the half-hour to the "Blue Zone" on CBS4 in Indy.

My personal preference is "The NFL Today" on CBS for the pre-game coverage.

I listen to Colts Radio during the game - and - mute the television.  Colts radio provides more specific and timely news regarding the Colts.

Used to listen to Lamey with the TV broadcast muted, before the 10 second delay was introduced.

With streaming I am often further behind the radio.

I like the local broadcast better as well, but don't like to know whats going to happen before I see it.
