So you are saying he would let Dak walk if he was the GM of the Cowboys?   Even if there isn't much out there.   The Colts won't have a great draft pick (probably 18-25).

I would pay Dak a maximum of $34 million, and that's way more generous than most people, and even more generous than I think would be smart. Any more than that is ludicrous

He wouldn't have to let him walk, he'd just have to let him hold out or play another season on his current contract

We were talking about before the 2015 season, not after.

During and after 2015, lots of people wanted Grigson and Pagano gone. But before 2015, the Colts were on an upward trajectory, and it wasn't realistic to expect them to make big changes at that point.

Yeah I know, I was just saying. There was a case to be made that Grigson should've been fired before the 2015 season, but I wasn't on that train then

Let us not forget that last year we won a ton of games that could have gone either way.....and that was with Luck.  The only real games I felt they played truly well in was Tenn and the Houston playoff game.

I think this is a good team with Luck.  Without him?

    8-8 at best.

Unless Chad Kelly really blossoms.  And I think he could.

    Not the Dolphins game??

Played bad the first half. Dug us into a hole. Then leads a game winning drive on a truly epic throw to Chester Rodgers. That game was crazy

I think we are screwed.   Brissett will do good enough for the team not to want to let him go.   They will over pay him (Dak) and we will be above average but not great for the next 5 years.

Ballard's smarter than to pay Brissett like a top paid QB haha.

Brissett wouldn't even get Foles money. He'd probably get around $15-$20 million per year

Hard to see how Irsay could've canned anyone before the 2015 season.    The 2014 team went to the AFC Championship game.     Not often you advance that far in year 3 of your building and the owner fires the HC and GM.

I would think perhaps John Fox getting canned by Elway might be one of the few exceptions.

You can't say "well, the team is doing good, so we can't make any big changes." Just cause the team is doing good, doesn't mean every part of the team is doing good. After 2015 I was calling for Grigson's head. He completely, just utterly whiffed 2 offseasons in a row. Look at his draft picks. Look at his free agency signings. Just awful. I think 2013 was the Bjoern Werner draft, and the midseason Trent Richardson trade. Already 2 giant gaffes. Not an automatic call for the head, but still a consideration. Then you have the failed 2015 spending spree. I think we definitely should've fired him right after that season.

He gave his body for about $100 million dollars.   The fans allowed him to make all that money.

"The fans allowed him to make all that money".

That logic could literally be applied to any person in the market. Even "self-made" entrepreneurs couldn't technically make money without their customers. Andrew made money cause he's a heck of a QB, first and foremost.

Thanks I am a Dolphin fan first and foremost but it is painful. It's nice to root for a team that is actually good.

Also, my mom is from Indianapolis, so there's that lol.

In regards to Mack, his 4.7 ypc is the same as Elliott last year. He also doesnt have the baggage and *ry of Elliott. Give the a guy chance boys!

This is the reason I'm not eager to make a Zeke trade. I think Mack is something special. I don't think we have a need at RB

Why would Zeke complete the puzzle? When was the last time a team with a high paid RB won the SB? He'd improve the team, no doubt, but it's not worth paying him all that money.

By the same logic, when's the last time a high paid QB won the SB? Does that mean we shouldn't pay our QBs?

To me Elliott Harrison seemed like a Colt hater, that is JMO by the way he has talked about the organization for years. He also seemed to be in love with the Pats. This new guy doing the rankings gets it, he isn't biased.

Oh goodness. I think I remember one article Hanzus wrote last year or 2 years ago gushing about Tom Brady. Not saying he doesn't deserve praise, but it was so sappy it made me gag

Gordon's best friend is Vikings CB Trae Waynes. Trae needs to talk some sense into his childhood friend.

As for Zeke, were fans this hopeful several years ago when the Colts acquired T Richardson? I'm not a fan of Zeke. His football skills are great but his judgment off the field is poor. The Colts seem to stay away from guys with character issues like Elliott.

Except Zeke is not Trent Richardson.

1.) I would give Dallas whichever 2nd round pick next year that turns out to be higher for Zeke.

    2.) I believe the Cowboys would want a 2nd and 3rd, or 2nd and 4th for him.

3.) I would immediately extend him to a 5 year, 65 million dollar deal. Ballard said he would eventually bring a non-character guy in the locker room. Given our weakness at RB and if Luck plays week 1, I would pull the trigger now.

I'd do a 2nd and 4th for sure, if that's all it takes. But I don't think that will be all it takes. If an opportunity is that good I would take it, but otherwise no, especially cause I don't think we really have a big weakness at RB like many people in the forum have said

Certainly helps the Colts chances with a most likely Jacoby Brissett lead offense.

I would much prefer seeing both teams at full strength though.

I would say it's 50/50. I honestly can't decide at all. The latest report has said the Colts have quiet optimism, but the nature of the injury seems to be unclear even to the doctors, and that's never good.

    I think it's honestly just anyone's guess

I am really REALLY starting to wonder what is going on between Luck's ears.

This is highly unusual for a NFL qb to be going through even once.  But twice?

How many other qbs go through this kind of thing other than when they have a broken bone like Aaron Rodgers?  A legit injury.  Not saying Lucks shoulder wasn't legit...but his time to come back seemed....excessive.  And now this?  Luck just seems to have an extremely low pain threshold and perhaps is losing his desire to play ever since he got paid.

I hope that isn't the case but c'mon man.  He isn't a cripple out there.  He seems fine.

I hope you realize that this is a very ignorant comment. Luck lacerated his kidney, broke his ribs, and partially tore his abdomen against the Broncos a few years back. He still finished the game.

He has played with a torn labrum since I believe week 9 of 2015 if my memory serves me correctly. And mind you, that was way before we fixed our o line. It is downright laughable to even suggest that Luck isn't a tough guy.

The shoulder injury took long to come back from for 2 reasons. One was that he played with it for so long, it made it so much worse. If you play with an injury for that long, it can severely change how your muscle works. When you play injured, you have to change the way you use that muscle. For example, recently I hurt my shoulder playing basketball. I couldn't shoot without pain, so to compensate my body changed how I shoot to put less stress on the injured part of my shoulder. My body changed my form so I could keep playing. That doesn't lead to high performance. Eventually I just stopped playing basketball for a week so it could get back to normal. So when you play injured, the injured part doesn't get developed since it doesn't get used, since the player has to compensate for the injury by throwing differently and using the shoulder differently.

The second reason is that the Colts wanted to fix it for good. I'm sure Luck could've played again. But they wanted to make sure he played with 0 pain, so that he can throw naturally, and not with a changed form like how I previously explained. They valued his long term health over throwing him back in a 2017 campaign that was already lost to start with.

Ultimately, you can see Luck is a competitor. You can see how not playing really wore on him, and you can see how happy he was when he got back on the field. Luck loves to play, and he loves to win. So it is just asinine to suggest that Luck doesn't have a desire to play. But he must use his head and realize that it's not the best thing for him to go out there and rush the recovery.

Did Reece suffer the same injury Beckham had.

Surprised he got attention from Odell. He's a fifth rounder from last year, I didn't think anyone but Colts fans knew about him, unless they've really been paying attention to the hype he's been having. I think with Fountain injured we may just stick with 5 WRs

No..... With CB "questioning" his readiness for week 1; that is Ballard speak for week 3 or 4 at best.  Ballard is a genius at building a team.  But he is very poor as the face of the Colts.  This is yet another time he has been caught being less then truthful and misleading fans.  Maybe they need to let him do the team building and bring Peyton in to work and deal with the media and actual injury updates.

"The rivalry is back on" was one of the most boss moves!

To be clear: I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, just for fun, with the upgrades that have been made all over the roster, if this team played the season with JB at QB, what do you think their record would be? Because of the strength of schedule, I think this team would probably be somewhere around 8-8.

Your idea of fun and my idea of fun are 2 very different ideas...... for example, thinking about another season without Andrew Luck.........

One concern with Andrew's 'mild calf strain' is how well it holds up to getting hit in a real game. Do we think that opposing D players are going to 'take it easy' on him or try to knock him out of the game (perhaps many games). He is going to be a target if he has a known weakness. I doubt if Andrew plays anywhere near 16 games.

If you're specifically trying to target an area, usually that comes at the expense of getting the best angle for a regular tackle. So there's that. But the other thing is that that would literally apply to any injury to a high profile person in the league.

I think there is definitely cause for concern.   The MVP caliber QB of the Colts has a pain that has been lingering for 3 months.   Many feel the team is ready for a Superbowl run.

However, the concern shouldn't be so much that we are talking about drafting a QB with one of the teams first couple picks in next years draft.

The fact that there's that much concern that people are talking about drafting a QB in high rounds next year tells more about the people than the actual injury. So don't base your concern levels on reactions from the fans.

Nope, just Luck. If someone else like Leonard, Nelson, or Hilton gets a serious injury, people will still buy tickets. Might be a slight decline, but others will scoop them up. Luck is the one player being out that will make a difference in ticket sales, and the difference between a home game(s) feeling like an away game(s).

K fine: "Anytime Andrew Luck has an injury, I'm gonna speculate that we're all being lied to and it's secretly some big injury... because reasons"
