Just lock this thread. This is ridiculous.

For the past 5-6 years, I usually only stop in every few months or so. For the draft and sky is falling stuff. I am good with making fewer visits. This is some weird stuff going on. People are going to click on a thread about how someone is randomly talking about how they like ice cream or something. Just an out of the blue random thread with no context. I think it fit perfectly where it was, but I really don’t care. I don’t really see why anyone does care. I never intended for this conversation to be it’s own thread, but here we are.

I didn’t start this thread. Was actually replying to someone else’s thread. It all got moved to this new thread. Yeah, if I thought someone just started this conversation out of the blue then, I’d probably think they were nuts too. Talk about taking all the context out of what someone is saying. Wow! Not your fault though. I get it.

I’m going on record of saying this might be the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen on a Colts board. @crazycolt1 I blame you, man. If you didn’t have crazy in your name then maybe they’d take us seriously around here.

@w87r Please add a prefix to the first post in this thread about how this conversation was moved from the Peyton’s Legacy thread. The beginning has no context and people who do not know this started in another thread will be confused.

The original thread is titled Peyton’s Legacy. His legacy consists of keeping the Colts in Indianapolis.

Been on Colts boards for nearly 30 years… This is a first time I am the author of a thread that I did not start. LOL I guess on the bright side crazycolt, we got our own thread now. This is bizarre. They literally ripped our conversation out of another thread and made a new one. I think we broke into a new matrix or something. Awesome!

I am a Day 1 Indianapolis Colts fan. They moved here when I was just a kid. I’ve never missed an Indianapolis Colts game. That’s right, 40 years and 0 games missed. Back then #18 was Mike Pagel. If you were a fan before me then you lived the Baltimore years. And if that is true then it makes no sense for you to logically disagree with anything I am saying. None of your story adds up and none of your logic makes any sense. However if you were not local to Indiana then pre-Internet, you would have missed out on some of the local happenings. You would have also missed a lot of Colts games. At this point though, you’re just disagreeing because you don’t want to admit you were wrong. You’ve doubled down on being wrong… Over and over. Facts!

@NewColtsFan Of course teams used LA to bluff other cities. With the Colts, it’s not that simple. Jim Irsay was not convinced the Indianapolis market could support an NFL team. The Colts had a hard time selling out the (small) RCA Dome for over a decade, and even early into the Peyton years. Remember this was once a basketball state. I was literally the only Colts fan in my high school, and my high school is in the state of Indiana. Northern Indiana were mostly Bears fans and southern Indiana was a mixture of Bears and Dolphins fans. Bob Griese is from Evansville and the void of not having a pro football team in Indiana led to these facts. Peyton Manning changed all of that. @crazycolt1 You might not ever see the truth about this. It’s bizarre that any Colts fan could live through what happened and not know any of this. Are you not from Indiana? That’s the only way you not knowing what happened would make any sense to me. Even then, these boards have been around since the Jim Harbaugh days. We lived this horror and you’re acting like it never happened. This was discussed more than games were Monday Morning Quarterbacked. I’m not sure how a long-time Colts fan could miss any of this. Something about you is not adding up.

You keep doubling down on being wrong and slightly moving the goalposts. Remember where this started. You laughed at me for making a very factual and correct statement. Continue on with your doubling down, on being wrong. If you think that’s saving face, it’s not.

Jim Irsay stood up in an owners meeting and asked what it would take for him to move the Colts to LA. He was ready to move the team. Indianapolis surprised him by actually funding Luke. All of this is as factual as the sky is blue. Anyone can choose to ignore it and act as though these things never happened. The fact is that Colts fans lived in fear for around a decade the Colts would move to another city. It was even possible the Colts could have moved to Cleveland at one point. Were you not paying attention to any of this? Every Indianapolis Colts fan lived the horror of it. It was in our face all the time. Wake up, man!

Peyton is the only reason there is a professional football team in Indianapolis. Jim can have all the grievances he wants to and the first sentence might be connected to this one. Irsay was absolutely going to move this team. Peyton brought success and that got a new stadium paid for by tax payers. The Colts would have become the LA Express had Peyton not been drafted by the shoe. Maybe Irsay resents him for that now.

Pat is an off-the-cuff kind of guy and that’s why his style was entertaining. He brainstormed breaking news on the fly. Sometimes his ideas were way out in left field, but that’s what happens with brainstorming breaking news. However, for people watching the show later (Not Live) it can appear to be ridiculous, because more news will come out after, and debunk some of the initial brainstorming. He won’t get away with that now. He has backed himself into a corner and it will be hell getting out of it. I believe he has made a terrible decision and he is going to regret it more than any professional decision. Including swimming drunk in a creek.

I’m am going to wait about 3 months, and then listen to his show again. Unless something he does (and Disney/ESPN corrects) makes breaking news before, which I am not ruling out. For me, waiting to watch his new platform is the best way to see how much has changed. I don’t think it will happen quickly, but I predict he will be miserable with this decision. All it will take is for him to step out of line once and they will quickly put him in his place. He had what people dream of. He had independence. I believe he will regret this decision. This is so easy to predict. That said, I’m going to let it play out.

Pat had the independent freedom to do what he wanted. Now he will be told what he can talk about and cannot say. The dude just sold his soul. You know how this works. You’ve spent time in the media space. That said, I’m sure you toed the line. It fits your go-along with the narrative personality. Someone with my personality does not fit in that space, which is why I’m not there today. It doesn’t fit Pat either, and how he cannot see that is puzzling. I refuse to be told what I can and cannot say. I always have original and non-mainstream thoughts. Some people just don’t fit into the regulated news culture. It’s a shame so many try to. We need alternatives that are not in lock-step with the national groupthink opinion. Pat moving to ESPN is terrible for the brand. He will realize this as soon as he says something nice about someone like Elon Musk. That’s when he is going to regret making this move. It won’t be as big a failure as when Rush attempted the move, but it will be in the ballpark next to it. This was a terrible decision.

Because people are different. If you take the most extreme views, both positive and negative then reality is usually somewhere in the middle. We need the extreme viewpoints to have the balance of reality. I wish more people realized that.

It’s not an all or nothing deal. And it shouldn’t be. I like how this draft is going for us. I am huge fan of Chris Ballard. I’m not sold on Steichen yet though. And it’s okay if others feel different about that. Why try to make it an all or nothing thing?

It’s hard to know how these players will develop, but I feel we have had a really good draft so far. Richardson has an upside that is awesome to think about. I would have taken him there. I liked him over Levis, mainly because of the personality. Both are projects. But it’s easier to work with a project who has the right mentality. I love Richardson’s humble yet confident demeanor. We got a long corner to play more press. Think of him as our Richard Sherman. This will open some things up for this defense. He will be in zone a lot, but he will press. I love Downs. And it’s a sneaky good pick. It’s funny that Ballard said he noticed Downs while scouting Sam Howell, because that’s when I noticed Downs too. A few years ago I did a write up on Howell, before the regular season, and Downs just popped on film to me. I’ve followed him close ever since. Albeit a smaller receiver, he has star potential. And he is built similar to a running back from the waist down. Overall, I’m excited about the potential of the top 3 picks. Looking forward to Day 3.

I like Richardson. I had him ranked as my 3rd quarterback in this draft. He has the potential to end up as the best quarterback in this draft. Young is the most polished. Stroud is a safe pick. And Richardson is the biggest boom or bust quarterback. There is something off about Levis. He gives me the Jeff George vibes. That is what I told everyone on this board too. Now many people are telling me that Levis gives them the Jeff George vibes. As if I’m not the one who originally stated that along with my concerns about Levis’s personality. Bottom line is I said something about the Colts that people don’t want to hear. And therefore, here we are. I am not budging, because I am right. As far as how good Anthony Richardson can become. We don’t know. We never know with players like him.

I don't really care. If you see how much heat I take just making people think logically about anything on this board... Trust me... It is not worth it. Which is why I don't spend too much time on this board anymore. I bounce in and out every few months. Hate me for being right a lot... That's not about me.

This makes my point in other discussions. But then he was asked if you can teach accuracy, and he said, enthusiastically 'yes I think you can, "you can help accuracy with mechanics, and you can help with scheme and simplify the offense to help the QB" You can "help" accuracy with mechanics.... That's the same thing I have been saying.... And every other offensive minded coach I have ever worked with or spoken to has said... You can improve a quarterbacks accuracy with mechanics, but you can't cure the problem. Just like you cannot make some who is 5'10" suddenly become 6'4". Shane knows that Anthony Richardson has accuracy issues. We all do, even if some are in denial about it. Now backup to when Steichen said that a quarterback must be accurate... That was one of his top 2 traits a quarterback must have. Call it misleading, lying, untruthful, less than candid... Pick the verbiage, but it is all the same thing.
