Not for a QB with the ability of Luck. You are throwing in all the QBs in the league including the backups.  And I do think you know what I meant.

Nobody knows whether Luck will ever play again.

And I still don't know where you are coming from in saying his career, by average, is young. Statistically, it's not young.

I wouldn't count on it. McDaniels isn't going to take a coaching job where there's a GM in place. He'll want full roster control. Look at what he did in Denver... trading Marshall, Cutler, etc.

Irsay is also going to scare some candidates away.

I hope Irsay scares McDaniels away.  He bombed once, I'm not hopeful that he can really shine away from Hoodie.

Some think it's a forgone conclusion because it's what they want. Chuck more than likely is gone at the end of the season but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

I am a firm believer in cause and effect and Chuck falls into that category. Chuck did fine when he had a healthy talented team. Now he don't. Cause and effect.

Can you list the players that you think Pagano is responsible for developing and improving?

I don't see him as that coach.

I agree.  I wouldn't trade him if I were the Colts, but I would trade for him if I were the Giants.

Let me clarify - I would trade him for the right return IFF we had a good strategy to build a powerhouse team AND a coach who could pull it off.

Belichick isn't available.  The coach is key to going with the trade. Pagano is not close to being the right guy.

The guy makes some points.  Luck has shown greatness, but overall his stats are hohum.  Irsay's remarks about the four inches also makes me think.  Maybe it is the time to cash in this chip and give the new GM serious ammunition to build a complete team. Luck led Colts were 10-12 since the start of 2015.  Colts don't have a good team.  Trading Luck might be the way to become a good team.  Of course, it's too bad they would not be selling at peak value.

I would.   Draft picks are overvalued right now.   If I were the Giants, I'd have no problem offering a couple 1st rounders and more for him.   There is risk, but acceptable I believe.

High draft picks are certainly not sure things.  You need good coaching and a coherent strategy to maximize the value of most players.

Football can't rely on the undisciplined efforts of physically talented individuals.  That's where "coherent" strategy comes in.

Yes...   they do have a PR department.   But they handle the normal day to day stuff.

What they dont don't have is a crisis management expert and that's what I thought the poster was referring to.

    if I misunderstood,  my bad.

Maybe they need a Crisis Management Department?

All QBs play though injury...and many have hurt shoulders...like baseball pitchers

We knew he was hurt early in 2015....there's video of when it happened .he played through it.

There's no blame..its just the nature of the game

Most MLB pitchers will shutdown rather than pitch with injury. There is too much money at stake.  Agents are proactive in protecting the longevity.  They have nothing to lose, unless it's a contract year.  Guaranteed contracts.

I'm shocked that no one can see what I believe will happen, coming....

The Niners trade 2nd for garappollo. Next year the niners will franchise Jimmy and trade him for at least a number one pick and possibly more overall to a team like the browns or Jags. the niners sign kirk Cousins...

I think this happens and is absolutely smart by the niners

Can you imagine having the #1 pick and grabbing the #2 pick from browns as well for garapollo? And signing Cousins...

it's really plausible considering how much the browns wanted Jimmy

This won't happen, because it can't.  Exactly how do the Niners tag JG and then trade him?  To a team that he didn't want to go to?  All he has to do is wait until after the draft to sign and this plan is lost.  A player has until July 15 to accept the tag or sign a longer term deal. After that, all he can sign is a one year contract ($22,000,000 in this case) with the team that tagged him.

Easier said than done.  This offense is a slow developing, down-the-field offense.  Also, Luck never had a running game and was constantly in 2nd and long and 3rd and long.  Further he never had a defense and was usually behind by 2-3 TDs.  On the rare occasions when this team did play a complete game(2016 Vikings) you saw how easy it is to win with a QB like Luck.  With a real GM and real coach, building a real football team, you would have rings by now.  Instead, Luck is back to rehab and his future is in question

A "real coach" would have created a different offense. He would not have stuck with the slow developing, downfield offense, because he didn't have the o-line necessary.

A real gm would have got players to match the offense.

"Easier said than done" is just an excuse. It's a coaching failure to not coach a young player to avoid serious injury.  Sticking to a long developing downfield offense with available personnel was dumb.

Luck’s a competitive guy, and so is everyone else involved in this mess.

Lots if blame to go around.

The root of the problem was not getting Luck a pass blocking offensive line. Bill Polian got it absolutely right. We tried to be this tough, run it down your throat team, with a generation quarterback.

Our entire offensive philosophy with Andrew Luck was a mess from the beginning, and we failed to protect him.

I do agree, but I also want to say that Luck holding on to the ball too long should have been "coached away".  The HC, OC and QBC should have called plays that didn't require such long pocket protection. They should have been in Luck's ear about throwing the ball away.

Speaking only for myself, I love seeing the occasional fellow Colts fan in nj.

Part of it is related to fan disgust with ongoing SJW actions during the national anthem.  People have burned gear from all franchises.  It's not just Colts.  NFL viewership is down.  People who won't watch the games won't wear NFL gear.

  13. It sounds similar to old time pitchers, Dizzy Dean comes to mind, whose career was shortened by altering his throwing motion due to an injury.

With modern medicine, and players in much more secure positions for not rushing back from injury, these type of effects should be eliminated.

Happy talk? Have you been asleep for a month or something? I sure haven't seen any happy talk in here since the season started.

Besides, there is no use of being all doom and gloom when there is exactly nothing we can do about it. This is the NFL. When you been around as long as I have it comes with the territory.

Happy talk is from the Colts. Irsay, assuring ticket buyers that Luck was coming back. The report that Luck made the Colts D look silly.

Congratulations on your longevity. I'm 63. How old are you?
