  1. RB class is dirty. Corner class looks pretty promising. Safety as well. Edge looks dry so far hopefully more emerge. Landry from BC and Key from LSU but both will probably be top 15 picks. Ilb has 3 guys at the top I really like, Jefferson from Texas Jowell from Iowa and Victor from Washington. But the best might be NT Payne from Bama, Mack from Texas A&m, Vea from Washington, kid from Utah who's brother plays for the Panthers. Solid draft again next year, I think positions will fluctuate year to year but drafts will maintain being solid because kids live, breathe, and die football more then ever. Just like basketball always has 10 1 and done prospects ever year now football is seeing better and more talent come every draft.

NFL.com has Davis's grade listed as top prospect #35.

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/tracker#dt-tabs:dt-by-grade

Now obviously, there's plenty of margin of error along with wiggle room...but you have him listed at top 25, they have him listed at around 35. Something's gotta give, 32 isn't really stretching it.

Bowser is seriously overrated by this forum. The website lists him at #97 of all prospects or so, which is pretty close to a 3rd rounder, not 2nd. i.e. 32 teams, total of 64 picks in the first 2 rounds, 96 picks after 3 rounds excluding compensatory picks.

Then you see some posts saying he may go late 1st to early 2nd round, LOL. Just like they said about Andrew Billings, TJ Clemmings, and Scooby Wright in recent years.

I could seriously care less about NFL.coms rankings. Which is totally contradictory because alot of their "experts" and "scouts" have him going top 25. Watch his tape dont just google him. Ridiculous athlete, great instincts, and brings much needed leadership. Cunningham is a project who will struggle with that frail frame and average athleticism.

Again dont just type on your key board, press play and watch Tyus. I can see him having that grade if your wanting to limit his abilities. As a pure edge yea he may go 3rd, as a Will/pass rush specialist I'm convinced he could go round 1, possibly be there at our round 2 spot. His movement in space is so easy and fluid, understands route concepts and drops underneath crossing patterns, and already is accustomed to using his hands to shed blocks on the line now he gets to use more space.

I think the media had a lot to do with all those cases. Mayock fell in love with TJ Clemmings length and senior bowl and all of a sudden he's in every mock round 1. Andrew Billings had the misfortune of being in one of the deepest DT classes I can remember, but again media fell in love with his strength and short burst explosion. Scooby Wright was maybe mocked in the first round before he played his last year, that was all media hype no real credibility

IMO we should explore the possibility of trading #15 to the Saints for 32, 76, 103. That would normally result in -162 point loss, or 15%! In this deep draft, it is worth doing, not to mention the Saints may be very receptive to this deal as well, versus some of the unrealistic trade-backs that I've seen.

If we're between a rock and a hard place at 15 (Haason Reddick, Rueben Foster gone) - we may have a player of late 1st round caliber available (Charles Harris) at a position of need versus a BPA like OJ Howard who is 100% not at an immediate position of need...then a tradeback is good.

Here's my draft with that deal, with much better value but also being realistic. e.g. no "Tim Williams in round 4" scenarios.

    32 - Jarrad Davis (ILB)

    46 - Jordan Willis (OLB)

    76 - Cordrea Tankersley (CB)

    80 - Donta Foreman (RB)

    103 - Nasair Jones (DE)

    121 - Danny Isidora (G)

    137 - Rayshawn Jenkins (S)

    144 - JoJo Mathis (OLB)

    158 - Antony Auclair (TE)

Jarrad Davis at 32 isn't realistic at all. Trading back this far would be dumb AF and result in not getting a blue chip player.

  4. Idk why I took so long but finally watched TJ Logan tape. Wow am I impressed. Has a tendency to bounce then to take a 1-2 yard gain, really my only negative. Sets up blocks with good patience, sharp cut backs, nice vision, great hands, and the pleasant surprise of being a good blocker. Steps up out of QBs throwing window and meets blitzers with a fearless punch. If he's there in the 5th

  5. ****Redo

    Round 1: trade w/ Denver for 3rd & 5th

Pick: Jarrad Davis. Physically gifted athlete, great instincts, and a tone-setter/ leader. Don't be surprised if he's the best ILB in this class

Round 2: Tyus Bowser. Versatile LB, great burst off the edge, fluid feet/hips and comfortable in coverage. Plays the Will in base D and edge in sub packages. Has a Jamie Collins ceiling IMO

Round 3: Jordan Lewis. One of the best corners in the class, if he falls here I may cry with joy.

Round 3(Denver): Dorian Johnson. Got to give credit to akcolt. Has the feet, strength at POA, elite arm length, and functional strength to start at RG day 1. Would need to beat out some nice competition only making him better.

Round 4: Shaquill Griffin. Might not make it here, but a very physical corner with great athleticism.

Round 4: Delano Hill. New favorite safety. Media seems to be sleeping on him but his tape speaks for itself. Wouldn't surprise me if he goes earlier then most think, if he lands here I'm ecstatic.

Round 4: Jimmie Gilbert. Great athlete with elite length and burst. Must fill out his frame to be an every down edge, but can add quality pass rush year 1.

Round 5: Grover Stewart. Love the Hankins signing but not confident in our depth at NT. Al Woods is more of a 3 tech and David Parry may be cut. Grover has no ceiling and will give quality reps year 1.

Round 5: Chris Carson. Runs with power but also a nice athlete. Decent hands and an adequate blocker but both will need to be improved. Has a ton of potential and is able to be a "work horse" if need be.

I wouldn't prefer a late round OL. I think G's are undervalued and we can get help in rounds 3-5. I think Haeg lacks the strength inside  to anchor. He was put on skates last year. It's not out of the question that he has/can add the strength necessary but not a given. Good's a back up. Blythe is a pure pivot. We still need a RG.

I would agree the T's in the class are poor. Moton really should be inside and I'm not convinced Dawkins shouldn't  be either. I think the G class is better than last year. I have a guy I think helps the end of day 2 and one that goes the middle of day 3.

I think Dorian Johnson could come in and start at RG. He's well rounded with the ability to play T. He looks like a 10 yr starter at G in the league to me. He had a bad combine so he continues to be overlooked. It was not so long ago he had 1st round buzz. I have seen him mocked mostly in the 3rd. He may end up the best G in the class

I guy I think could surprise is Pyke from UG. You have to go back 3 yrs to find really good tape on him. He's not a T but to his credit he played where they needed him without a compliant. He played through a knee injury this year. Georgia went through a sea of changes during his time there.

The more film I watch, the more I like Dorian Johnson.

    Great!     Glad you're happy!     Really!

I'd think the off-season has gone as good as one could hope for.     We clear got better at every spot on defense except the secondary and the secondary is a strength of this draft.      We need more pass rush too.    There's an old saying that you can never have enough pass rush,  and I believe that too.

But I think the majority of our draft picks will still go to the defense.     We want to get younger, faster,  more skilled on that side of the ball.     This draft can do that....

This is a really good day for Colts Nation!         :colts:

Absolutely brother!! Now its draft time

I hope Dorian falls to our top 4th rounder if that's where were looking. Long arms strong at the POA but he doesn't move well. He has good feet, but when he reach blocks he looks a bit stuck in the mud.

I have no problem with that.      My only real point was that Ballard did not want to do a deal that he thought was bad for the franchise,  and I supported that.      You didn't.

I didn't bring up $8 Mill,  you did.    So, I argued based on that being the reference point.    That's all.

All I wanted was for Ballard to do a deal that he liked.     And I think he clearly did.     And I've posted this hours ago in this very thread.

I think both sides made a compromise deal.    We paid  a few million more per year,   and Hankins gave in on the number of years.       The end result is a 3-year deal,  and not 4 or 5 years.     And 30 Million.     Win-win for both sides.     So,  I'm very happy.      I like deals like that.

I supported Ballard.     I supported him bringing Hankins in for a visit,  and I supported him when Hankins walked out the building without a deal.    And I think that led to a compromise,  so I'm very pleased.

    I hope you are too.....

I am very very very happy. I was disappointed when he left and posted things that I realize make me look like a drama queen. What argument where you making then, seemed to me like you didn't think he was worth 8 mil. Either way I'm just happy as can be, tickled pink

Every time you wrote "Pay Hankins $8 Mill a year, that's what he's worth"   you were encouraging the Colts to over-pay.      The market says he's not worth that.     Not a single NFL team has offered him that.     You just thought it was a reasonable number.     So you decided that you were right and Ballard was wrong.

Well were debating on personal opinions now. I dont think 8 mil is over paying and you did. We paying him around 10 so you really must not like that. Me, I don't mind it at all

You guys feel better now?  How about next time you wait a day or two to see how things play out before needlessly vomiting your disappointment all over the forum.

BTW, Ballard hasn't even been here long enough to have apologists yet...good grief.

Hey I'll admit when I'm a drama queen. I'll take all the S talk I get IDC we got him!!!!

You've posted so much,  I don't think you know what you've written.     You've been saying overpay Hankins for most of this thread.     Hankins is a month into free agency and he's barely had a nibble.     The person who screwed this up is his agent,  not Ballard.

Perhaps 8 Mill a year is far more than he's worth.     Doesn't seem as if anyone else in the NFL thinks he's worth that.

Never did I say over pay anybody #1. #2 light has been shed on the situation since I wrote those but go ahead and read through all my posts makes me feel special. And #3 he's still at 10 mil, he has an 8 mil offer from NY already.

You have no idea that CB "crapped the bed with this one."

That's just your hot-headed opinion based on nothing.

You don't know the details,  you have no idea what went on behind closed doors.

Clearly Ballard and Irsay don't think Hankins is worth overpaying.

Well I know a lot more now then when I posted that. I really had no clue at all. This * is still asking for 10 mil, he started at 15 mil!!!!!! That's something nobody knew tho

The NY Post is now reporting that the offer from the Giants that is currently on the table for Hankins is 4yrs. 28mil.  He started out in FA asking for 15mil per year then dropped to 10mil.  Giants can pull the offer at any time.  Wonder what we are offering?   Decision time coming?

Dayyyum really???? Man F this guy
