  1. Minchew is who he is regardless of what @lennymoore24 tries to tell you.... Who by the way has been awfully quite since the limited arm turnover machine became the FULL time starter!
  2. So true but Gus has to help them by applying SOME pressure.... You can't give free reign off the line to opposing receivers with 10 yd cushions AND allow the qb to play pitch and catch!!!!
  3. They ALWAYS give Carr time!!!! No pressure on him EXPOSES that weak secondary..... Everyone can see this but Gus?!!!!
  4. It'll be Shane's fault if we lose a shootout according to some INSTEAD of that soft defense of Gus!
  5. Gus must go!!!! Carr getting WAAAY too much time!!!! Hate this passive defense....
  6. The Colts always seem to make Derek Carr look like the second coming of Joe Montana! I don’t trust our defense to make to the NECESSARY stops when NEEDED against any team passing the ball with the game on the line. See Rams, Browns and first Jags game. Even though in all those games the offense had turnovers it still came down to the defense needing to make a stop to STEAL (due to our turnovers) a victory after getting down early. The league philosophy is more aggressive on a whole. Whether it be gms making bold moves for the now to QUICKLY turn teams around or coaches going for it on 4th downs seemingly on regular basis (sometimes on their side of the field) and with defenses bringing heat from anywhere to slow down passing attacks by getting to the quarterback. Teams apply PRESSURE to the Colt qbs. The Colts in return allow sunshine in the pocket for opposing qbs and free releases with nice 10yd cushions for receivers. Gus acts like he has an ELITE front four with top tier DEs and that THIS secondary (personnel wise) is equal to the "Legion of Boom!" Our team has guys that are more than capable of blitzing like EJ, Shaq, Zaire, Blackmon and K Moore to name a few. Gus is stubborn to a fault running "his" DATED system and is either unable or refuses to ADAPT in today's passing league. I know we have young corners but cater to THEIR strengths. It's mind blowing to think Mr "I don't believe in utilizing the blitz much" did it 47% of the time against Lamar in the Ravens win when half their critical players were out.... Go figure.
  7. Thought the look was cool.... Nice change up.
  8. We shouldn't have been in the game with 4 turnovers against the number one defense that led to 17pts. By all accounts this game should've been a blowout!!!! We still scored 38 points... Did you stop to think that his situational awareness and decision making had to do with Minshew turning the ball over?! This is NOT Shane's first rodeo with Gardner. As a matter of fact in his two starts in Philly last season Minshew had 3 ints and 4 fumbles. Frank gets blown out in this game! We usually agree on most things but not this one. Shane was trying to win by not allowing Minshew to COST us the game in the end with another turnover and TRUSTED the soft defense to hold the Browns from going 70+ yds while needing a TD. I think we're in good hands with the rookie hc whose still learning also SEVEN games in.
  9. Are you REALLY blaming Shane?! I'm just glad to see this offense score points this season!! You put up 38 on the number one defense in the NFL and that's with 4 turnovers in a game that we should've WON against an ANEMIC Brown's offense with a backup qb also. The blocked fg was huge for them also! The problem is that OUR defense can't close on a regular. So tired of big gashing plays when it's time to make a stop! I will say this the NFL is starting to look like the WWE as in sports ENTERTAINMENT. Whether this is scripted or gambling by the refs is involved it's hard for me to believe that the officiating across the board is THIS bad league wise affecting the outcomes of games on a regular. I'm also starting to question how some gms are building non contending rosters on the yearly too.
  10. Officiating was bad BUT that defense gave up a 30 and 17 yd pass play plus a couple of more WIDE open middle of the field pass plays on that game winning drive by the Browns!! Gus's defense STINKS!!!!! Made Walker look like Montana on that last drive BEFORE the penalties!!!! Why is Baker still on this roster anyway?
  11. I wanted Schwartz instead of Bradley at the time when Ebs left. Thought Reich would go that route because of the Philly connection and success but Ballard wanted Gus. Now Jim Schwartz is running a top defense in Cleveland.
  12. True turnovers hurt us in this game but in the beginning with the game in balance the defense did nothing as the Jags got up early. They ramped up the pressure in the 4th but it was too little too late. With Minshew at qb for probably the rest of the season this defense can't afford to simply sit back it HAS to become more aggressive to help create turnovers. I WISH our qbs had the opportunity to face non pressure in the pocket and that our receivers could benefit from 10 yd cushions!!!! Wait a minute they DO on a daily basis in practice and that could be the very reason in prior years that the receiving core was evaluated as upper tier by the front office because they looked good in practice with plenty of SEPERATION. I keep saying a lot of these top tier defenses and teams have come up in Ballard's tenure. Now we have to worry about the Texans too.
  13. His system is OUTDATED for the modern passing game and I hope at seasons end other options are explored at dc. So tired of seeing top tier qbs just sit back and make timely plays against a secondary that routinely uses a SOFT zone. I don't even see stunts ran by the front four to help generate pressure by creating confusion with blocking assignments ESPECIALLY if you CHOSE to rarely blitz. Gus is not doing this young secondary any favors either! At least let them use their size to reroute receivers instead of giving FREE releases off the line on top of giving 10 yd cushions on a regular. We STILL don't have ELITE d-ends (serviceable yes) but not good enough to pressure on a consistent basis which is fine if you get aggressive with some timely blitzes! Lastly is Cross in Bradley's doghouse or what because he can definitely help on the back end of that secondary.
  14. You are correct. Matt couldn't stretch the field and was limited with his mobility. Now teams will focus on stopping the run game, will take away that SHORT passing game by pressing the receivers and attack the qb with pressure to force turnovers. Minshew is good in RELIEF duties but his LIMITATIONS are the reason that he is a backup. Could be a long season again ESPECIALLY with that hit or miss passive defensive scheme of Gus Bradley!!
  15. I'm so sick of Bradley's passive schemed defense ESPECIALLY against the top tier qbs!!! He finally decided to send some pressure in the fourth quarter but too little too late. I REALLY hope we explore other options at dc next season.
  16. Minshew is who he is..... a nice backup who can give you hope in RELIEF but his LIMITATIONS will keep you from winning on a consistent basis UNLESS you have a top tier defense, run game, receivers and o-line. He's not really mobile and doesn't possess a big arm. With a special talent like AR going down this will look a lot like last season. The run game will have to be first option. If that's shutdown and you can't STRETCH the field then it will get ugly very quickly because defenses will just pin their ears back enroute to the qb to force turnovers.
  17. Typical Gus... what till late to bring some pressure. Is he still coaching for the Jags?
  18. That was my point. I don't consider him a wr1 based on his nfl career so far more of a Pittman clone but in fairness Jeudy has had bad qb play while in Denver. Still only 24 Jeudy has battled injuries too. If the price is a low pick he's worth the risk because his TALENT level is dynamic. Jeudy has only shown flashes to this point and has not lived up to the draft hype coming out of Bama but again his qb play has been bad to say the least.
  19. I'll give you that because he was a beast at Bama! He's still relatively young and sometimes a change of scenery is necessary. IF he can come in and be that guy then the Colts would have a nice tandem with he and Pittman. Throw in the emerging Downs and the possibilities could be limitless....
  20. Jeudy is just meh to me.... Once thought to be a game changer coming out of college but he's been more of a solid piece and we already have enough of that in our receiver room.
  21. I'd like to see an AGGRESSIVE defense period no matter WHO can get the job done!! So tired of seeing the upper tier type qbs get all day in the pocket to pick apart the young secondary who by the way give up 10 yd cushions and a free release to opposing receivers!! If either Cross OR Leonard can get into the backfield on some delayed blitzes to put Lawrence on his backside I'm ALL in on either player!!! Also I don't understand why Gus doesn't use the SIZE of our corners to reroute opposing receivers within the first 5 yrds instead of allowing free reign to amass large passing yards.
