I don't know if they will resign him, but CB want's to keep and pay our own players, IF they have earned it.

I'm not sold on Castonzo this season, but he's not a bad LT.

So can we sign him to a decent extension, then re-sign him, if he wants a big payday... let him hit free agency and sign another LT in free agency or through the draft.

I understand Castonzo is 30 but do you remember what it was like when he was out the first 4 games last year. The o-line struggled big time and to get a proven LT is easy said then done. That's why average LT get paid top dollar and Castonzo is far better than average. I say Ballard signs Castonzo to a 3 year deal in the 15+ million range.

Luck was a great talent, very good QB. I agree though, he didn't love the game like Peyton, Brady, Brees, Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice. Those guys I just named would die on the field if they could before retiring. Brady won't retire IMO until he gets injured somehow or he is just too old to continue. Had Peyton not had those neck surgery's, he would still be playing. He had to retire because of his neck which caused him to lose arm strength. Andrew Luck is today's Barry Sanders. Barry was a great talent/great player but never cared about records and loved other things besides football.

Agree! Michael Irvin was asked about Luck retirement and said he has respect for what he did and then asked if he ever contemplated retirement and said never. He even said he would keep playing to this day if he could that's how much he loved the NFL.

Although I respect your opinion, I highly disagree. Playing hurt is a million times less painful than the mental health struggles Luck went through. I’ve been what he’s been through, having to quit football because I sustained so many concussions I still have lasting brain damage from them, and there is nothing that can pull you out of that state except removing yourself from the source of it. People on here are acting like Luck gave up. Luck didn’t give up, he was mentally unable to continue. It’d be like if a guy broke his back; he literally cannot go anymore. If you ever listen to anything I say on this forum, trust me when I say that it is not a quit or stay situation: it is a situation where you CANNOT continue to play.

Also, in regards to the money, is it Luck’s fault that entertainers make so much more than we do in today’s society? That sounds more like a cultural issue than one that Luck has control over.

    2nd rant over

Also, to think he wasn't going to go into the NFL with no injuries and some sort of depression he is very naive.  He should of just not entered the league. Almost every player will give you list of injuries and some sort of depression or trial they've had to overcome or face everyday. It's the guys that truly love the game that stick it out and want to play. For example, look at Brees and big Ben. They've been hurt so much in their career and just got hurt and they want to keep playing no matter what. As I previously stated. Luck just never loved the game as much as most players.

I agree. He has mental health struggles and I'm not saying I hate the guy cause I don't. I also agree that if he wanted to leave and do what's best for him so be it. I just dont like the way he went about it. Retiring 2 weeks before the season starts and letting everyone think everything was fine and a team on SB aspirations and to quit on your team like that. That's my issue. I love what he stands for. He's really a good dude, especially what he did for the whole city of Indiana but my grip is guys that should be celebrated as Colts are the guys who gave it there all and where greats of the team for a long time. Wayne, Marvin, Peyton, Saturday etc.. He's a guy that quit on his team, gm, coach, owner in the start of his prime. I hope he has a great life, I truly do and he has full of happiness but to me he will always be that guy that could of been on of the greats but hung them to early.

  5. Luck had every right to do what he did but as a fan I dont respect what he did. He led this team thinking he was going to play and everything was ok and retired a couple weeks before the season. I understand he was hurt but what player in the NFL isn't hurt including Qb's and you simply not wanting to play cause you're not 100% get the hell outta here, everyone in the NFL isn't a 100%. Hell T.Y. played the WR position and had 2 high ankle sprains. You hear most Qbs and players say after his retirement say they respect him for his decision but majority say they want to play as long of as they can because they love the game that much.  Luck just never loved the game that much. Luck was a great player and I enjoyed many Sunday's watching him play but he shouldn't be celebrated this much for what he did. He made his money and simply quit.

    Rant over.

  6. This is all hypothetical so take it as you will.

Scsnerio 1- Jacoby gets paid which is both friendly to the team and himself. Team gets to see what Jacoby looks like while Jacoby can prove to earn a bigger payday. Win, win.

Scenerio 2- While Jacoby plays out this year, if the Colts feel like he is not the answer they can make a move in the 2020 draft and have Jacoby as the bridge or fight for the Qb spot since Ballard is heavy on depth and competition. Personally I think Ballard drafts a Qb this coming year even if Brissett plays well.

Scenerio 3- The Dark Horse..... Maybe Ballard and Irsay truly believe Luck will be back next year and realize if they have Jacoby next year under contract and plays well they can flip him for draft picks since his contract is cheap. Now if Jacoby plays like a top 5 qb they keep him but i personally don't see that happening. Now if they flip him for picks they can still use the capital to move up and still draft a Qb to be behind Luck just in case he decides to retire again.

I know people will say I'm crazy but no one thought Luck would retire not even the Colts did. And if he does comeback which is very possible you know Irsay will not let Ballard trade him away and Ballard will still want to do what's best for the team and that's having insurance just in case.

First of all I'm not saying he will return but they're a lot of clues why it's a possibility.

1st. Peter King on Rich Eisen said when he visited Colts in the beginning of August the Colts Brass nor Luck had a clue this was coming. He suggested a week later after they found the new issue retirement started creeping in. King said Luck was very excited for the season. My opinion is Luck really wants to play but really didn't want to go through the grind of rehabbing all year long.

2nd. I believe Holder asked the question. If the ankle heals would there be a chance if you'd return. Luck response is. "I can't see the future" but I see very clearly in my mind right now that I won't. My opinion, if you say you can't see the future that means that he may want to and of course he will say the ending part because he is retiring and that's how he's filling at the moment.

    3. Irsay gifting the money and making the comments about other players wanting to comeback. Irsay is correct. Mj, tiger wanted to return. Sanders wanted to return but wanted to be traded and Lions refused. Recently players like Witten, Ryan khalil and percy harvin unretiring. Most players that do retire, unretire. Even Gronk put out there he could return this year or in the future. Needs to just get his mental part ready.

    4. I truly do believe he will miss it and realizes that he will miss the game and the brotherhood. I just believe he wants time for himself right now and fully heal without going out there in serious pain. Look at last year as well. He said he has had the most fun he's had and made him truly appreciate the game. I just think with the time off and the body able to fully heal he will want to return.

    We shall see.

I fully expect that eventually, he's going to realize how much he misses it, & ultimately entertains coming back. The question is: does Ballard feel comfortable taking him back & opening himself up to potentially being hung out to dry if/when the general wear & tear of an NFL season starts to take it's toll on Luck again?

I agree 100%. Hypothetically speaking, say if Luck does want to return next year they will openly take him back but make no mistake Ballard will still make it a point to draft a young Qb in fall back. Say if Jacoby plans out he may trade Jacoby or trade Luck. It all depends. Also, the big decision is Irsay and I doubt he will want Luck traded.

Yeah it makes sense. It only makes sense why he wouldn’t say today is they aren’t sure about luck yet. Otherwise there is no reason to not say if he will play. Just strange why you would with hold it until Sat.

I think if he was to say, Jacoby will not play it will set alarms off when that may not be the case. Maybe they rather play safe with both Qb's. At least with him saying it saturday he can avoid as much questioning on why cause obviously Reich is over the Luck questions

The only thing that would make sense of not saying if JB will play SAT or not is that they will have a better idea if luck will play week one by Sat. Nothing else makes sense why you withhold that info in a pre season game.

My take on it. If Jacoby plays, a good sign they have confidence Luck will be back. Why? He said most 1's will be out. What's the point of one's going against 2's. Same with Jacoby. If he does sit out. Than a chance Luck may not be ready but not for certain. My personal opinion is Jacoby sits but I think they do it just to be safe. If Jacoby was to get hurt with 2nd string oline the backlash the Colts would get especially knowing the whole Luck situation. Just my 2 cents

  12. I agree. I do believe he plays. I said i take it with a grain of salt. I do believe Dungy is speaking his opinion and what he's been told which I find it odd. I do believe if Dungy thought luck would play week 1 he would of said he will mostly likely be out there but not 100% or something along those lines.

Article is about how he's prepared mentally and how he's done walk throughs. Nothing new. Who's to say he will or will not play. I sure do hope he does play. It just sounds odd how Dungy said they're going to have follow Brissett for a bit. My gut says he does play week 1 so let's pray. Just find it really odd how he basically thinks Brissett will have to carry the team for a bit.

  14.

At the 6:00 minute mark he explains things on Luck. Dungy makes it seems like the Colts are going to have to rely on Brissett for a bit. He does mention that the healing could come at anytime but the way he talks makes it seem like Luck won't be ready for week 1.  Take it with a grain of salt.

This is awesome. It says in the article that there has been enough progress that has lead to the guarded optimism. I'll say this though, if he doesnt play week one it definetly sounds like week 2 should be a go if everything keeps progressing.

Remember how going into OTA this was going to be a drama free off season. Lol

Yup. I will say this. I think if something was super serious an announcement would have been made and he wouldn't be doing anything. I just hope the news today is nothing concerning that just happened.
