My issue with your trade is that this is considered a poor OL class overall. Robinson and Ramczyk may fall to the Broncos anyways.

I see your point on how poor this class is but there are a lot of teams that need OT and being that there are hardly any that it may drive up the demand. Remember there are only 2 really solid OT prospects. Seattle, Denver, Patriots, Texans, Dolphins, Possibly Detroit if they lose Reiff. There is always a need for OL. There are a lot of teams below us that need OT and they may not be the there in the 2nd

  2. Before I get into my mock, I do not expect Grigson to go deep into free agency and I do believe this years UFA will be slim due to franchise tags and other teams having more money. I will also not include contract figures.

Resign: Jack Doyle, Robert Turbin, Darius Butler (Free Safety), Erik Walden.

    Cuts: Arthur Jones, Dqwell Jackson

Free agent Signings: Melvin Ingram, Dontari Poe/ Cap casualties

2017 Mock Draft with a trade!..... We all know Grigson makes a trade every year.

    1. Solomon Thomas (DT/Edge) 20th Pick- Denver Broncos trade up to 15 to draft either Cam Robinson or Ryan Ramczyk.

Based on trade value points, Colts will receive 200 points.  The Colts will receive Denver Broncos 2017 natural 3rd round pick (170 points) and 2018 natural 5th round pick (32 points). My reasoning is that Denver can't afford to lose an OT and they have 1 natural 3rd and (2) 3rd comp picks. They do not have a 5th rounder this year so they will give up next years 5th rounder.

    2nd- Sidney Jones (CB)

    3rd- Chidobe Awuzie (CB)

    3rd- Wayne Gallman (RB)

    4th-Samaje Perine (RB)

4th comp- Jalen Reeves- Maybin (ILB)

    5th- Ejuan Price (OLB)

    6th- Sean Harlow (G)

I know I will probably get flack for having 2 RB being drafted but I think it can be a good problem to have.  Frank Gore, I love the guy but Father Time is always undefeated and whose to say that decline will hit or even injuries.  I think being his last year he can also mentor these 2 young backs.

We also don't have any 6'2" ILB. Look, if you guys want someone that has never played ILB and is too slender for the position to anchor a 3-4 defense, I don't know what to tell you. It's not the right move for his skillset or frame.

In addition, the argument is to move him there because you want spend a 1st round pick on a guy (Peppers) that has shown no ability to be a ball-hawk coverage player at safety while pairing him with another safety (Green) that showed nothing but a fast 40 his rookie year.

I'm not taking that risk when we can actually get a prospect at ILB or Safety that has elite level traits for the position at that pick. Why create yet another project when there are better options that fit our current personnel?

    Amen!

  5. The reason why I think Adams and Hooker would be an excellent pick is that they play the run and pass very well. That is needed on this team. I'm not saying give up on Green but we can't assume he will get it. There is a chance he may never get it. But if he does it a good problem to have because then you'd have 2 that are excellent at both and move Geathers as a linebacker who can cover as well

If we go Safety in 1st it has to be Peppers, and then we could convert him or Geathers to ILB based on who would most likely hold up better physically..Kill 2 birds with 1 stone...We draft a pure safety we still got to worry about ILB and if Geathers can hold up..We draft Peppers we have 2 guys who can play Safety or LB  ..Makes us more able to withstand injuries..

I'm not so high on Peppers, I like him but he's not a playmaker like Adams or Hooker. Those guys are some ball hawks

  7. Hypothetically speaking, say if Hooker or Adams falls to us would you pull the trigger? I know Grigson does BPA and Adams and Hooker are top 10 from what the scouts say. Adams has gotten Eric Berry comps and Hooker has gotten Ed Reed comps. I know pass rush is a bigger need but these guys can be Blue chip type players. I know they drafted T.j green and he obviously needs a lot of work so would you think they move Geathers to Ilb if it did happen? I think it's interesting because it could happen.

Irsay was taking Luck no matter what.  Polian more or less said that.

Ya but when Irsay told Manning we are going to let you go and draft luck. Manning even said you gotta take Luck. Most people knew Luck was the no brainer. It wasn't that hard to find a blue chip player when a top prospect like that only comes around once in awhile. That's all I'm saying is Grigson is a joke.

I think if he did take RG3 he would have been humiliated by everyone in the nfl. When everyone says he's the top graded qb since elway I think it's pretty easy. Peyton manning told Irsay you gotta draft Luck so I'm pretty sure it was a no brainer

You say that! But he didn't take RG3 did he?

There were plenty that would have!

Same as Bill taking Manning over Leaf. You got to give credit for being right! Don't not pretend it was a no brainer then!

Well heck, here I thought Luck and Hilton were pretty blue chip. Kelly looks headed for blue chip status!

Luck was an easy choice. Yes, Hilton is one so I do give credit. Kelly does look good but he is not there yet and may not be and thats what waits to be seen. So really 1 out of how many players drafted. I don't trust the guy

  12. On today's episode of pardon the interruption, Tony and Mike were talking about how bad Jed York, the owner of San Francisco 49ers has failed and later on in the conversation Tony mentioned how the 49ers are a team that is going down the drain and than mentioned how the Colts are another team that is going down the drain. He did not mention any other teams. I know this has been a hot topic on here but how does Irsay not see how everyone is bad mouthing his team and how changes need to be made. How does he not make any firings when you lose the division to the texans and they have brock and no jj watt. I know this team is rebuilding but Grigson has failed horribly. Pagano has had not much to work with but still his coaching has been poor as well. I'm seriously worried about the future of this team. Grigson will have 60 mil to play with to probably blow away once again and he can not draft a blue chip player if his life depended on it.

  13. I don't think you cut Langford, Gore or Robinson. Langford had an injury he rushed to quickly. I still think he will come back strong. Gore is still serviceable and can be a really good backup if the Colts pick a rb in the draft. Even though Robinson was hurt most of the time he looked like a really solid slot db. I also think they need to invest in their own players. Darius Butler can be our Mike Adam's replacement. Jack Doyle might be the top TE on the market so he won't be super cheap. I think signing Walden to a 2 year contract is a must. They also need to sign Mewhort and Donte so I don't think they will go strong on unrestricted free agents. I do believe they need to cut ties with DQ, Art Jones. If I was them try and make one big splash move and that would be Melvin engram.

  14. Even though it was a disappointing season there are some positives for the future.

    1. Luck looks like his old self and has improved his play with cutting down the turnovers.

    2. The o-line is young and has depth now. I'm not saying the line is great but being that young and the play recently makes for a bright future.

    3. Jack Doyle and Erik Swoope have improved and could be counted on. Before the season, many were worried about the depth and now they show they have depth.

    4. Edwin and Morrison look like they may be good future starters. I hear a lot hating on Morrison because his play earlier but fans need to learn he was not playing mlb his natural position. I'm not saying the guy is a stud but for his first year he has showed promise and will continue to get better.

    5. Colts may have a pretty solid safety group if they can keep Butler and with the play of Clayton Geathers.

    6. The D-line has promise as well. Henry and Ridgeway can be some good starters and hopefully Langford can come back healthy next year.

This team has gotten really young and that's good and bad. In my opinion it's a good thing but I also know when you have a young team there must be patience. These guys need time to grow and develop. If this team can get a young running back and a couple young pass rushers and db's this team will be really good.

  15. For being a fourth rounder and not having a whole lot of game time, imo he has improved. I think due to that is playing his natural position at mlb. I don't see him being a 3 down guy in the future but has really improved on the run defense. Never know though, he could surprise us in the long run. Time will only tell, he's only a rookie.

  16. I agree. I like knowing he can can be a 3-down player since he can rush the passer. I think if he continues to develop and keep working on his technique he can be a big piece to the defense. Some scouts like Chris simms said he could end up being the steal of the draft. Only time will tell.

  17. For anyone who said Grigson should have traded for him is dumb. Chandler is a really solid player but he becomes a free agent at the end of the year and is going to demand high $$$. I rather not give up a draft pick for a possible half year service when he alone will not save the season. Hold onto the picks this year and try and make moves in free agency

  18. I definitely do think the division has significantly improved. I think the division will be no cake walk but there is too much hype in the Jags. The players they signed don't really impress me that much. Prince is really not a solid CB and is injury proned. Gipson is a decent safety but the Browns didn't even try to keep him which in my mind says something. Malik took a lot of money and is a solid player but how will he translate to a different defense with not a strong supporting cast as Denver's D. Chris Ivory I do like but the Jags offensive line hasn't been that great and they haven't done much to improve it. Yes, they got Beachum but it's a 1 year deal prove it type of situation since coming off an acl tear. So my question is can they create lanes for ivory because Ivory isn't that type of rb. People are talking up Fowler, Ramsey, and Jack and they haven't played a single snap yet. Not saying they will be busts but just because your a top 5 pick doesn't mean success. Jack's leg is a real concern and the Jags know it by the comment being made about how they know he may not make it past his first comtract.  Fowler wasn't even considered the best pass rusher in his class. Everyone had Shane Ray and Gregory higher until they dropped because of the off the field situation. Ramsey I do believe is the real deal but you never know. I know a couple years back Mcshay and Kiper were in love with Claiborne and Dee Millner and they haven't produced. All I'm saying is I'll call the Jags a playoff team until they prove it. Just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it will lead to success.

  19. It didn't help that they showed film of Louis at lg which is mewhort's position. Also showed a highlight of holmes at center which everyone knows the position is a huge need. The o-line needs to be addressed but it's not as horrible as every outside media thinks it is. I remember seeing pro football focus ranking the colts o-line somewhere in the middle of league (14-18 range). If they can get a true center like Kelly or Martin this year that's solves the big problem. Then find someone else in the draft to give thornton competition. I know mayock is big on Garnett from Stanford. At his pro day said it's one of his favorite interior lineman and is a starter day 1. Hopefully Grigson will not ignore it this year.
