  1. Well, I'm going to go against the general flow here.  I would not be waiving Trent yet--I see the main reason why everyone is calling him a bust is that he cost us a 1st rd pick.  If we had paid a 3rd or 4th pick for him, no one would be complaining.  I have seen some describe him as the worst player in NFL history--what rubbish.  You don't run 970yrds in your rookie season if you're crap.  Looking at this year's RB, are there really any candidates who would be great successes at the Colts--assuming they fell to us.  If Trent can lose that extra 14lb he has put on, he remains one of the best blocking backs in the NFL--another weapon to protect our franchise QB.  Play him, not as your #1 running back, but as blocker in the backfield.  For variety, throw to him as well.  Are there any worthwhile RB in FA (don't cost the earth) that would be any better in this role--I don't think so.

Had we given up a 3rd or 4th we would still have gotten fleeced, he hasn't played to the level of an undrafted free agent, much less any draft pick, 5th,6th or even a 7th. He is nowhere near being one of the best blocking backs in the NFL. the Colts alone in Bradshaw and Ballard have two backs that are much better blockers. IT's a fact that Trent is the second worst back in the history of the Nfl with at least 500 carries. There are many backs that could give you more than Trent, the shorter question would be are there any backs that could give you less than Trent. There is absolutely no reason to bring Trent back, and with what happened at the end of the season, it shows that it has a lot to do with Trents attitude and lack of heart, that along with his lack of talent, screams cut this guy.

  2. you posted this at 8:37pm....Its now 9:12pm.......That's 35 minutes past your prediction

He wont be turning anything around, but I'm sure he will be turning over some burgers in his new career, and I too think he will figure things out eventually, and choose Hardees over Mickey D's as the place to flip those burgers. I think Grigson will easily, release a player who will not ever see the field again and instead of using that roster spot on said player, use it for someone who might actually see playing time and help the team out.

1- I'm not sure if he will be better at flipping burgers in the 215-220 range, but as you pointed out he did have a couple of good plays, so maybe being lighter will help his flipping speed.

2-He needs to learn to trust the spatula. Trusting his lineman wouldn't help him at all, he couldn't hit the right hole if you put a flashing light in it.

3- Every back that ran for the Colts executed at a much higher level than Trent did. He's fundamentally horrible, and wasting carries by letting him carry the ball was the biggest reason why the running game was so poor.

4-Even though we got beat 45-7 in the Patriots game, I think Pep did learn that, like in the Broncos game, we are a much better team without Trent and the benching of Trent gave this team a huge lift.

5-I don't think any amount of tinkering or play designs can cover up Trents total lack of talent. I think there were many times this season that we put ourselves at a huge disadvantage by having Trent on the field, and for pretty much the hole regular season we just conceded that we were not going to put up any points every other possession, by letting Trent play every other possession.

    3-

  3. I still hope he figures things out eventually, I think he finishes the rest of his contract out with the Colts......I really find it hard to believe Grigson will so readily give up on a player he gave up a 1st round pick on with a year left still on his rookie deal....But several things have to happen for Trent to turn it around in my opinion

1.I think he needs to get to around 215-220lbs to gain more burst...He has some(see the 12 yard run week 12 vs the Jags....that came right before the Hilton playaction TD) but he needs more

2.He needs to learn to trust his O Linemen to get there jobs done and stop with the stutter stepping, Lower your pads and run and dance in the open field later

3.This goes along with 2....O Linemen need to execute at a MUCH higher level in the run game, I believe fundamentals were among the biggest reason why we were so poor in the run game

4.Honestly this is not a shot at Pep but I think he can learn some things from the Patriot game in terms of play design in the run game, Wham Blocks killed us vs the Patriots (along with bad tackling....foot diving)

5.I think some plays that are already designed in the run game need tinkered with...specifically ones where uncovered O Linemen bump or help out on a DT/NT instead of creating an immediate hole by getting up on the ILB, Don't worry about helping so much in those instances, create the natural run lane by sending the O Lineman up to the 2nd level instead, Also I saw there were to many times in my opinion we ran to the side of field where the number of defensive players outnumbered offensive players creating easy stops for the defense......How about running where the weakness of the defense is and shifting our TE's to create that.....I think there were times we put ourselves at a disadvantage by shifting our TE's creating numbers in the defenses favor and running into them

I don't think there is any way the Colts waste another minute on Trent, he's been given every chance in the world, and he's just not an NFL caliber back. He has shown absolutely nothing, unfortunately he's as good (more like as pathetic) as he's ever going to be. He needs no more time to prove that he is one of the biggest bust in NFL history.

The Colts will eat the money and cut Richardson (he's that bad) I just wish they would go ahead and do it, so we don't have to see any more post about how he is going to turn it around next season.

  4. Ok judge and jury, Mr. Right.-. What about the "Fan" you quoted on a post and that Poster is Fire Pagano=You not going ape over that one or all the FANS here after a Colts lost here when they rip the team and coaches. W. Point was it would have been good to have him on the Colts when he was on waivers to help our running game as type of power back that could have assisted the running game. A lot of fans here wanted him picked on waivers at such time.

What does any of this have to do with what you said?

  5. If you're gonna call it stupid, please explain why!  Go ahead and flock with the seagulls.  I make a very valid point, but haven't heard one good remark back, besides sarcasm or this is stupid.  You can't face facts that Boom isn't as great as everybody thinks, and it's our OL that can't block.  It's sad everybody goes with the obvious that Trent isn't good but doesn't have the brainpower to think critically and understand it's not the RB's on the roster.  Like I said w/o the 49 yd TD run by Boom, he is just a bit better than Trent.  Boom has speed and runs off Castonzo.  Trent doesn't have speed and runs in between guards.  Sucks for Trent the whole season that was the weakest part of the team.  People want to complain about Luck's turnovers but failed to mention he was the most hit QB this season.  Also up there in sacks.  Do you see a correlation with pressures and turnovers?  Same thing with the run game, if you can't block, you can't run!  What is so damn difficult to understand about that people?   Do some of you just watch football because it's a "thing to do"?  Or can you actually understand the X's and O's, because the way 90% of forum members speak on here they couldn't tell you anything about formations, blocking schemes, or game plans, they simply watch the game and listen to (also dumb analysts) and they think they know what they're talking about cause they watch ESPN or have seen a few games.   I'm not the smartest person in the world, but I'm not so ignorant, to just believe everything I hear, or only see a RB get a 2 yard gain (Boom has plenty of those too), and say, hmmm that's not a very good run.  We need a new running back!

He is so much better than Trent, it's unreal that our coaching staff wasted most of the season conceding that we weren't going to score every other possession, as we hardly ever scored on the possessions where Trent was featured, now that we are not wasting every other possession we are playing so much better, if you can't see that Boom is a whole lot better than Trent at everything, then I don't know what you are, but a man that knows football would not be one of my choices.

  6. your post said you hope blount steamrolls our d

But you said hope he does.  If it was a typo and you meant does not then I agree with your whole post.  And I never called you stupid, I said your post was stupid...your typo caused a statement unbecoming of a Colts fan!  LOL!  It's all good though!!!

Not buying the typo, there wasn't a does or doesn't in the post, it was a stupid post, talk about getting emotional!

  7. Of course don't want Blount to run over our D-I'm just pointing out when Bradshaw went down, had a chance to get him which would have helped our running game before Boom climbed up the depth chart. Would have been cool to see him power over teams. You know, one can be a fan and have opinions about things. Do u see the forums here when the team dose not play well Fire Chuck, Fire Pep. Fire Ryan. So all chill out.

What does any of that have to do with you saying youhope Blount steamrolls the Colts?

  8. You can't say he's a bust .. He's never been given the keys to the car .. All I wanted to see was him running it 20-25 times a game in one season 300 carries use the guy we wasted a 1 st round pick on him .. So are you telling me that if we draft an rb this year where only gonna run him 12 times a game? Some of you guys probably never played football and some probably did the ones that did know that you get better as the game goes on .. This was his year and Bradshaw stole his thunder took his rec Tds and his goal line Tds he's get that this year there is no boom ..

Sure you can, he's one of the biggest bust in NFL history.

  9. Trent is a power runner, and he's pretty fast once he gets up to speed. He's a Ford Excursion with a passing gear. No one has ever accused him of being a Ferrari. He needs a hole to get to the second level and then if he can't get by or juke you, he will run you over. He didn't set a Cleveland rookie record behind what was a worse o'line than Indy, if he couldn't run. With the right team he would be a terror. It is not his fault that both Cleveland and Indy's coaches were too dumb to understand that they needed an RB with flash like Lacy or Murray, and not a Bus. And for your info, I am not a trent lover. Simply, I can see what the problem is, and it's not all Trent's fault. I am a fan of Shaun Alexander and Eddie Lacy. Neither Shawn nor Eddie are true Ferrari's, but Shawn was and Eddie is a Corvette fitted with a Snow Plow. But Indy's o'line would probably get them both killed.

Now that's funny. Trent is a Ford focus with two flat tires and an eight track player, He's not fast at all, once he gets going or any other time, he's an overweight three toed sloth.. The next time he runs over somebody will be in line at Wendy's. The guy has no talent at all behind any line. I know your not big on truth's but, he ran behind two pro bowlers at Cleveland, and he still couldn't get anything on his on. He ran through the great big holes and then when he encountered a defender the play was over, you and I can do that. You do realize the Browns had two pro bowlers don't you. He want sign with someone else and become good, he has no Heart, no BURST, no SPEED, no ability to MOVE LATERALLY, no SKILL SET and no FUTURE in the NFL.  The bigger question is when Trent is out of football next year, will you still get on here and tell everybody else how they don't know anything about football, and you do, or will you finally  admit that Trent is one of the biggest bust in the history of the NFL.

  10. Okay I'm not gonna wait for everybody who thinks Boom is soooooo much better.  Take away his 49 yard TD run earlier in the season and he has a 3.8 on the verge of 3.9 YPC.  lmao you fools still think it's Trent.  Your beloved Boom Herron had a 2.7 YPC against the Broncos on the big stage lmao you still think he's so good, and I haven't heard 1 thing about that lol.  People are so funny at times, I can't help to SMH at the people who love to hate, or simply looks at certain stats to say Boom is so much better than Trent.  If you look hard enough, you will always find a point to back up your hypothesis!

When can you guys finally accept it's the OL.  Take your own advice, when you say give it up Trent sucks, but also apply that logic to the OL.  Cool, the pass blocking has been great this postseason, but don't try to use that arguement with the run game, because it is still polar opposites.  I don't know why people are still arguing this topic.  Most of you got what you wanted, Trent benched, but does it really make that much of a difference?

Trent couldn't have gotten 1 yard a carry against the Broncos.

  11. Pagano and anybody else involved in the decision to not allow Trent to travel, much less play, is a born again *. The Colts have the leagues worst run blocking offensive line. The 50 or 60 yards rushing they had and won with last week will not get it done against New England, Seattle or Green Bay. It doesn't matter who is running the ball, even Dallas' Murray or Green Bay's Eddie Lacy - nobody is going to run behind the Colt's o'line. It appears to me that since Trent has had problems getting yards on the ground that Luck has pretty much forgotten about him. Over and over and over again I have watched Trent make his block, release and run into an open spot in the flat, only to have Luck ignore him and force an incomplete pass to a covered receiver. It has happened so much that I finally got fed up with it and stopped watching the Colts altogether. This type of stupid situation will hurt the confidence and motivation of any player. Now comes this absurd mess with Trent and the playoffs. Who's the real * here? Not hard to figure that out. He is being replaced with any one of 3 nobodies who are doing no better than him. He has a guaranteed salary of 3.25 million dollars through next year. So now a 3.25 million dollar player can go home, grab a beer, put his feet up , kick back and watch the Colts get their butts handed to them by New England. And if not, then absolutely by the NFC Champion in the Super Bowl. AND he doesn't have to take a licking by the opponents defense or freeze his butt off. He can basically kick back and suck the Colts dry for another year, take free agency and then you can damn well bet sign with someone else for another fortune. All I'm going to say is that the Colt's are super stupid and Trent is making out like a bandit. Good for him!

  12. I'm sorry but this is a stupid post.

One of many, there are some real ignorant people on this board, any * can see that Trent Richardson is horrible and will go down as one of the biggest bust in the history of the NFL. The Pathetic Trent, makes the comment  "that this will never happen to him again"   "you can write it down"   Now that they have told him it can, and it has, again this week, he's devastated and not making the trip.  This is absolutely hilarious, I think the fellow losers on this board should give Trent a call and they can all watch the AFC Championship game, together and talk about how poor Trent wasn't given a fair chance, wasn't used right, or his non existent skill set,  Who thinks Booms better?  Why everybody on earth that's ever seen a freaking football game, except that same couple of *s that keep defending that excuse for a football player called Trent Richardson

So by all means guys give him a call, he'll be at home tomorrow, sounds like a great time to get all the *s together, and have one great big PITY PARTY. Maybe one of the *s can give him a job and let him move in with you, he sure want be playing football next year.         oh yea and one more thing  GOD BLESS the IGNORANT.

  13. Anyone can see that the run defense is better when Jones is on the field, it doesn't take grades from PFF (which I enjoy) you can see it with your own eyes. I would imagining grading the defensive lineman would be the toughest to grade. RB have yards,  CB catches against them, and so forth, but DL can stop a play without making a tackle, buy occupying blockers and shutting down lanes, I would imagine services like PFF would have a tougher time grading DL than any other position, either way the eye test shows that the defense is much better with Jones on the field and that is exactly what the Colts signed him for.

  14. I agree, he would be very good at the way we are using our rbs now, pitch outs and passes out of the backfield, just don't run any of them up the gut unless it is very short yardage

what pitch outs, we are hitting the check downs more often, but other than that we're not using our backs any different at all. Trent is not near the receiver Boom is, he would still be just as horrible as he has always been. He want be in the NFL next year. He is so bad the Colts will eat the final year of his contract, and maybe then you guys can finally realize just how horrible he has been. He will go down as one of the biggest bust in NFL history.

  15. Best news is he didn't fumble, but 2.8 yads per attempt is what most were complaining about as TERRIBLE when TRich had those averages, but with Boom, everyone thinks he is a hero...... Interesting.

In the games that Trent had averages like that, our other backs averaged 4.0 to 5.0.per carry. Denver has a very good defense and any yards our backs got yesterday were hard to come by, the fact that Herron was getting positive yards was keeping the defense honest. Had Trent played yesterday he would have struggled to average 1 yard per carry and would of had more carries for negative yards than positive. That is a very tough defense, had we not benched Trent, and were still alternating Boom and Trent every other possession, there is no chance we could have won. We scored the majority of our points this season, on the possessions that Trent was not featured.

Until he was benched we were conceding that we were not going to score any points every other possession. This is why all season I was saying that Trent was holding this team back. The coaching staff made the change and just in time for the playoffs. I would hate to have seen  what Trent would have averaged yesterday,  Boom was very effective yesterday giving us enough positive runs to present the threat of the run, and he took some real shots and kept on churning. Considering who we were playing and the way the game unfolded, I thought he had one hell of a tough performance
