Kinda like Eric Ebron. Except Ebron had more healthy years to earn the bust tag.
Yeah, no. Not even close. Ross caught more touchdowns last season alone than Dorsett has in his whole career. Dorsett also only caught 80 more yards in his first season than Ross did, so again, yeah, no.
Dude had a whopping Zero catches his first year and 21 for 210 yds his second year. Dorsett had 225 yds his first year, not sure where you got 80. 10 yards per reception for a speedster is pathetic. As the 9th overall pick, he's been a massive bust. He wasn't even that great in college.

Ross' career so far makes Dorsett look like Megatron.

Setting need aside, what don't you like about Thompson?
To me he is a true single high free safety who isnt that great in run support. Like a lesser version of Hooker. He was great the first month of the season but got picked on as the year went on. He's a good player I just think a 3rd safety isn't great value at 26. Especially if we get Phillips and bring back Farley as well.
If he's there in the 2nd i'd be more akin to take a look. The reason I personally like Chauncey Gardener-Johnsonis that he's a true hybrid who can play SS, FS, or nickel corner.

Admitedly I don't really care for Thompson, especially after also signing a safety to start. Phillips seems like an excellent value signing that Ballard would make. If drafting a safety as well, I'd much rather get Chauncey Gardener-Johnson later, who is more versatile IMO.
Humphries would fit perfectly. I have doubts that Ballard would splurge on Flowers. I think he'd go after a cheaper option like Preston Smith but Flowers would be a great addition.
Overall, nicely done. I'd bring back Inman for 1 year though. To me, he earned it.

I think he's the second best back in the draft behind Jacobs. He'll be one of those second day steals who will probably end up starting.

There's a lot of chatter on him among the draft twittersphere. A lot of people compare him to Leonard coming out last year. Had a good showimg at the senior bowl as well. He's being talked about as a potential riser after the combine that will be at worst a third round pick.
He'd be a great pick in the 3rd. He could be the primary backup for WILL while playing in sub packages and possibly SAM.

Really?
Your mention of this being a "strong free agent class" is the first I've seen..... anywhere.
For safeties it's pretty solid. Earl Thomas, Collins, Amos, Clinton-Dix, Adrian Phillips, Mathieu, Vaccaro etc.

Tennessee would never trade within the division.

Im assuming this means we are full go at trying to get collins
Not necessarily only Collins but the Strong safety class is pretty strong in both FA and the draft. Collins would be great but last word was he is expected to get the Franchise tag.

Williams or Humphries would fit in well here. I wouldnt mind signing Humphries and then drafting a bigger body guy. Humphries has great hands and great YAC ability that would fit well with the WR screens Reich calls. Price tag is going to be the issue.

Le’veon isn’t as bad as people make him out to be. He was protecting himself(we saw what happened with Earl Thomas). I think he would be a better fit in our locker room than Antonio Brown.
Le'veon allegedly ballooned up to 260 lbs this year while he was away. If true its a bad look for a guy banking on himself.

If Ballard were interested it would go against everything he's said publicly since he got here. I'd be shocked.

Not surprised at all. He always looked like a pervy old man. All in all, probably just a slap on the wrist for a rich guy.
-
I was gonna say Joejuan Johnson but I see he was mentioned above. I'm going with Chauncey Gardener-Johnson from Florida. He can play SS, FS, or nickel corner.

I saw a bunch of articles pop up yesterday about "Colts to pursue Collins" but what they really were were a bunch of tweets from local Indy media speculating Indy might have interest or hoping they would have interest.

I like Desir and want to bring him back but not at a ridiculous price. He's also going to turn 29 during the season so the comparisons to Fuller aren't apples to apples. It would stink to let him walk but you can find cover 2 corners more easily.

Yes to Collins. And to drafting another safety as well. It is a key position for this Defense, and that position is shaky right now. Geathers' health can no longer counted upon, and Hooker has been banged up alot as well. Collins upgrades the position, without question.
I'm with you. Tender Farley, sign Collins and draft a jack-of-all trades guy like Chauncey Gardener-Johnson who can line up anywhere and you've got a very versatile secondary for years to come.

He would certainly be an upgrade over Geathers in a box safety role but I wonder if Ballard will look for more of a 2-High safety fit. Collins in coverage has not been stellar but he can bring it in the box.
-
I'd be shocked if he isn't playing for the 49ers next year. That's been the loudest chatter.
-
I don't think the odds of him being free are good. His agent has already said he would gladly play on the franchise tag next year.

I don't think Landry is but 6'2" or maybe even shorter. I think Polite is taller than Landry.
Landry was listed as 6'3" by BC but measured just over 6'2" the combine. Florida lists Polite as 6'2". Is he legit or closer to 6'1" at the combine would be my concern.

Burns has the frame to add weight without slowing him down.
The question for me would be, why hasn't he done it then? I'm sure the strength and conditioning staff at FSU is state of the art. Does he not work hard? Does his nutrition suck? Or is he just an ectomorph body type that struggles to put on weight?

I would take him. You can bulk him up later. But he has great pass rushing skills.
Maybe, his frame could already be maxed out. Not everybody can put on mass with a snap of a finger. He's probably been trying to bulk since he got to college and is still skinny.
I would be worried about Burns in a 4-3 scheme. Will he ever be able to convert speed to power? He reminds me of Barkevious Mingo too much.

I think he's probably more of a 3-4 OLB. If Ballard passed on Harold Landry because he was a poor scheme fit, I'm not sure how he would feel about Polite who's shorter.
