  1. And the problem with that is, once other teams get tape on how to tame our offense.....more times then not, its successfully duplicated. For such a "explosive" offense, they get shut down quite easily.

We'll see how many other teams have the enough defensive talent to duplicate it. That bills D is good.

  2. If I remember what other top tackles are getting, we got a pretty good deal with Castonzo on this one

According to over the cap 10.5 per year is tied for 4th with Ryan Clady. Above him are Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith and Trent Williams. Might be a little high but if this is 4 years of 10.5 plus this year at current (around 7.3 I think) then this is a pretty decent deal.

  3. One thing to keep in mind about free agency is players have to want to come here and it's not all about the money. Look at Jacksonville this offseason. They spent a lot this offseason and brought in free agents that are mostly perennial backups with a few starts and paid them starter money to start for them. Sound familiar? With the success on the field over the last 3 seasons the quality of players who want to play for the Colts has gone up every offseason but the ones we could afford/attract initially were not very good for the most part.

  4. One thing is certain: The NFL did not do the patriots many favors by destroying the evidence. The combination of patriots success plus actions that may have given them an unfair advantage will just lead to rampant speculation if you hide and destroy the evidence that shows how far their actions go and how much advantage (if any) may have been gained. Because of that this will never die.

  5. I don't quite understand Sporttrac...

When you hold the mouse over Jone's "dead cap" figure... it changes to a lower number ($1,100,000) if cut "post June 1"

What would be the total amount the Colts would lose (in dead money) if Jones were to be cut?

If cut post June 1st the dead cap hit is split between the current season and the next season. So instead of 3.3 dead in one year you get 1.1 dead in one year and 2.2 in the next.

  6. I don't know if Kravitz is stirring the pot with nothing or if there is some friction.

    But...

The Colts have lost very badly to elite teams during the Pagano era...by a wide score...yet I can't think of one time the Colts trounced a very good team.  Their wins have all been close.  Maybe Cincinnati last year was the one good team that the Colts dominated.

SF in 2013? Denver in the playoffs? Maybe even Seattle in 2013. The score difference wasn't as huge but those were some pretty thorough beat downs.

  7. Right now, the team is about $10-12m below the cap. Handling a signing bonus wouldn't be a problem.

I thought we had about $10 mil before Hilton signing so that would be about $8 after then we will use some more if we extend Castonzo and keep some for the actual season if the need arises. I think we would be cutting it kind of close if we tried to extend Luck this season.

  8. another great write up Superman... I'll be able to watch it tomorrow, but on the outdife looking in and seeing the scores.. it looks like again we were OUT Coached and ill prepared.... hope the tape shows different

You do realize that the only preseason game coaches actually make a game plan for is the third one right? They don't do that for the other games.

  9. i keep hearing you can't spread the signing bonus over 6 years, only 5. Damn I really hope it's not actually 13 per

The signing bonus will be spread out, just like in Russel Wilsons deal, but that doesn't change the value of the contract. I'm think we paid more than he's worth but was still better than letting him walk.

  10. So is it 11 or 13 per, for real?

The extension is 13 per. The cap hit for those 5 years will average slightly less because the signing bonus will be prorated over 6 years not 5. You can't look at the cap purely on a per year basis. Extra cap rolls over and total cap hit = total money paid. So its wrong to say that it is actually a 11 per deal because its extending his rookie contract. Its a $65 million deal over the next 5 years of cap.

  11. I read he wanted something like $6M from the Jets.  So what?  We have the cap this year.  Rent him and go for it.  Worry about contracts next year.

We need that cap this year. When Castonzo and Hilton sign their new contracts part of their signing bonuses will hit the cap this year.

  12. 1. Luck

    2. Castonzo

    3. davis

    4. Andre

    5. Not sure, Ask me after pre season

I've said it before but I think Andre will be the biggest difference maker. We did not have a receiver of his skill set on our team last year who was healthy. If all he catches are < 10 yard passes for first downs and no TDs we can easily win the superbowl because that was the main thing missing in our offense down the stretch.
