  1. Alstott is a perfect FB to have for any good primary runner. He could block and run well. Down by the goal line he was powerful.
  2. I was going to mention OJ but didn't for reasons people know. A buddy of mine is a huge USC fan, he is in his 60's so he remembers the 70's well. He thinks OJ is top 5 to this day. My mom of all people loved Marcus Allen when he played. She once said, he looks so smooth when he runs, like nobody can touch him . Allen was great at avoiding defenders, when he did it, it was like how did he do it? He wasn't real fast but his vision was among the best, can't teach that. I really wish Bo Jackson would not have got injured, that guy may have been the GOAT had he played 10 years or so. He was a freak.
  3. Peterson is in my top 10. Not sure where because after my top 5 it is close between around 10 other guys. You have players like Earl Campbell but he had a short career, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, etc.. Where does Derrick Henry belong? Franco Harris and Tony Dorsett should be mentioned as well.
  4. Fun trivia: Only 2 RB's have won League MVP 2 years in a row. Jim Brown did it 1957 and 1958. Earl was the other in 1979 and 1980. They were both like FB's the way they played.
  5. My top 5 RB's of all-time are: 1. Jim Brown - He just set the tone for every RB/FB period. He dominated every season he played in. 2. Emmitt Smith 3. Walter Payton - he and Emmitt are like clones. He could do it all as well. 4. Barry Sanders 5. Eric Dickerson - he couldn't pass catch very well either but was a top 5 Runner of all-time IMO.
  6. 5000 more yards, I highly doubt it. The Cowboys offensive Line was designed to have runners that were North/South runners, Barry was a East/West runner and relied on speed mainly. I am not going to debate your ranking with Barry because I have him 4th all-time so you and I are barely disagreeing there. I just think the people taking away from what Emmitt accomplished because he had a great O.Line is MEH. I could say stuff like, what if Jerry Rice didn't have Joe Montana and Steve Young for his whole career, would have been the clear cut GOAT? A WR that never gets talked about in the GOAT Convo is Cris Carter and he never had anyone near Joe or Steve. I am sure Carter could have done the same things Rice did if he had that team out in SF. What Emmitt had over any back that has ever played is, he could do it all = Run with power, and he had enough speed to get by. He could pass block, catch, and he played with injuries that most backs would miss 1 or 2 games over. Emmitt was the definition of an NFL RB in every way. When he sat for 2 games because of the contract dispute, the Cowboys were manure with that great Line + they still had Aikman and Irvin and still stunk without Emmitt. Emmitt comes back and the Cowboys win 9 straight games. He also beat the Giants with one arm with HFA on the line, you can have Barry and his highlight reel, I am taking Emmitt all day.
  7. Are you saying Barry Sanders wouldn't be the best RB today? I would take him over McCaffrey or Kamara and would not even be close. Both are better pass catchers than Barry but that is not a RB's primary job. A RB's job is to run for 100 yards a game to keep defenses honest and give a team balance on offense.
  8. Rangers mean business. They are in 1st in their division and needed a great closer. Chap isn't what he used to be but he still better than a lot of relievers. When he played for us he was the best reliever in the league = 2016.
  9. Yeah I think other players will want to come here when they know they can play with Haliburton, Mathurin, Brown, and Turner. Turner is the elder statesman but his defense is very valuable. Look out for Oscar being a sleeper good player as well. I am still shocked he didn't get drafted.
  10. Domingo threw a perfect game a few nights ago for the Yankees, only the 24th perfect game in MLB history. We are talking over 100 years of baseball. Throwing a perfect game is about the hardest thing you can do in sports. I thought I would mention that. Cubs ended their 4 game losing streak by trouncing Cleveland 10-1. Hopefully we get rolling again. Every team in that division seems bi-polar. The teams win 4 or 5 win a row, then lose 4 or 5 in a row. I have never seen anything like it, the Pirates are now good again
  11. That is critical, he is our best player and capable of being great. We have him locked in for a lot of years now. Getting Brown was fantastic as well. We did good yesterday.
  12. Thurmon Thomas is a good comparison. I just brought up Sanders because he really didn't pass catch much and was an average at best pass blocker + Taylor has speed like him in the open field. Barry Sanders is in my top 4 RB's of all-time and he was paid to do 1 thing - run the damn ball
  13. Funny because Emmitt Smith could pass catch much better than Barry Sanders and Jim Brown who you think smoke Emmitt, (look up the stats and by eye test it was clear) and Emmitt was also a great pass blocker - ask Troy Aikman, but yet you think Emmitt isn't even a top 10 RB of all-time. Interesting. Emmitt is also the all-time leading rusher. Taylor is like a Barry Sanders type back, faster than everyone and a top 3 runner in the league today. He deserves a big contract considering his age. He doesn't need to be a great pass catcher. His job is to run period and that is what he should be paid to do.
  14. Me either. I hope we pick someone up that is good, but not a Strus fan.
  15. Taylor and his agent are going to say so what lmao. Taylor and his agent are going to say he is the better 'RB' and best player on his team. That he should make about the same as those guys and he is younger.
  16. It is going to be tough to pay Taylor anything less than 15 million a year. McCaffery = 4 years 64 million, 16 million a year. Alvin Kamara = 5 years 75 million, 15 million a year. After looking at what those 2 make, I would sign Taylor to a 4 year 60 million deal with half of that money guaranteed being 30 mill. Kamara isn't better than Taylor, also Taylor just turned 24, he would only be 28 by the end of his deal. That is when you move on when he is 28. Getting rid of a 24 year old RB makes no sense, especially when it is your best player. The market dictates he should be paid like a top 3 RB in the league - especially being only 24, no debating that.
  17. Yeah we blew a 4-0 lead, this game was ours to lose. Sometimes 1 or 2 plays can turn a whole a game around. It did today. Credit to the Cards for capitalizing on our mistakes. I figured today's game would be tough to win because of the rivalry we have with them. Usually when those 2 play, each team wins at least 1 game. Good thing is the Reds lost again so we are still only 3 games back in the NL Central.
  18. I like Haliburton and Mathurin a lot, of course Turner too. The Oscar pickup has me intrigued. Walker I have caught a few glimpses of because Houston made the Final 4. Not sure if we will be a good pro or not. He could be, if so we got a steal.
  19. I do stand corrected, the 2 games against the Cards are in London. I watched a little today. We are flat out rolling. Beat the Cards 9-1 today. Reds finally lost today so we are now only 3 games out of 1st place in the NL Central. Despite the Reds winning 12 in a row, we only lost 1 game in the standings this whole time. We are 11-2 over the 13 games, Reds now 12-1. Here are the NL Central standings as of June 25th: 1. Reds 41-36 2. Brewers 39-37 (1.5) 3. Cubs 37-38 (3) 4. Pirates 35-41 (5.5) 5. Cards 31-45 (9.5) A win tomorrow will get us back to .500. Stroman is going against the Cards. We haven't been .500 or better since May 12th.
  20. Now I love the Oscar move. I was shocked he didn't get drafted. I have actually heard of him and have seen him play. He is good.
  21. We have 2 gigantic games coming up in St Louis. If we can get both that gets us to 38-38 at .500 and at that point the team will be flying with confidence. Will the Reds ever lose though . I am happy for Reds fans, they are a likable team.
  22. The Jazz do the same crap, they get players like Boozer and Willams - they get good, but let them walk. Get Hayward and let him walk. Lets see we have freakin Spider Mitchell and have the best record in the league then their FO says he can go. It is a joke. Small market teams don't stand a chance unless you get extremely lucky like Denver and land a Joker or the Bucks and land a Giannis. That is like hitting the lottery. We were lucky with Reggie Miller because he was loyal. Hell OKC could have been a dynasty had num nuts who everyone thinks is a great GM (Presti) would have signed Harden and went over the Luxury tax in 2012. With Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka they would have won at least 2 Titles.
  23. We have to gamble a little if we aren't willing to pay the luxury tax to bring in guys, being long shots in the market we are in. Charolette would have took our #7 and Turner for their #2 IMO, we probably didn't even try. A guy like Miller could have changed this whole franchise. I just don't see our FO doing anything like that ever. I am just frustrated with our franchise. Every time we get a good team, we let people walk = Paul George, Vic, and Bogdanovic because we are cheap. We had a team in 2018 that took Lebron, Irving, and Love 7 games and the next year had a few injuries so in 2020 we let everyone walk.
  24. I without a shadow of a doubt have no clue to the person we drafted in Round 1 I wish I owned the Pacers, we would have a championship by now because I would go over the Cap and pay the luxury tax to get 1 or 2 great players here. Quit being tight wads, you guys are still millionaires. I would also have traded up to get Brandon Miller, with all the meaningless draft trading we did, we traded down and got someone that I have never heard of. Our Mangement stinks to put it politely. If they are happy stinking than that is on them. The Cavs went over the salary Cap when they had LeBron for like 4 years in a row, I love Dan Gilbert - their market is smaller than ours but he payed the luxury tax.
  25. You are chatting with a guy that will find anyway to bash Nelson, Leonard, and Taylor. It has been his calling card for 2 years now. I have nothing against Moose personally - he may be a hell of a guy to have a beer with, but he is like a broken record when it comes to those guys.
