  1. Umps sucked all series. They tried to cheat the Cubs in that 2nd game.
  2. Brewers win, that sucks! We did split with them 2-2 but made up no ground all week.
  3. When the Indians were up 3-1 in the series, it wasn't relaxing though. I was going nuts because we had clearly been the best team all season and were playing like chumps.
  4. You should pull out that DVD and watch and enjoy. I have the 2016 Cubs World Series DVD as well. I watch it at times and have a drink, it is relaxing and gets my mind off things.
  5. Your 1985 team got screwed in the World Series and this coming from a Cubs fan. Umps did you in, in Game 6. 2011 was your best team IMO.
  6. I am obviously a Cubs fan and I picked the Cards to win the Division before the season. They have been shockingly bad. I had the Cubs at .500. Not sure why the Cards are bad? Cubs pretty much are rebuilding so I understand that.
  7. Here are a couple of questions for you baseball fans @NFLfan, @w87r, @LJpalmbeacher2, @Myles, @HOZER 1. What year did you become a fan of your team? 2. What are the top 5 teams you have witnessed during your fandom. It is witnessed so the 1927 Yankees would not be on your list for example unless you 100 years old or older. Mine: Cubs fan since 1984, Top 5 best teams I have witnessed. 5. 1989 Cubs - *Won NL Central at 93-69, lost in NLCS. Sandberg, Grace, Dawson, and Maddux were all on that team and were great. 4. 2003 Cubs - *Won NL Central at 88-74, lost in NLCS in 7 hard fought games vs the Marlins. Was up 3-1 in that series! Marlins went on to win the World Series. The Steve Bartman season. 3. 2015 Cubs - 97-65, lost in NLCS, beat the NL Central Champs Cards in NLDS as a WildCard team to get to the NLCS. 2. 1984 Cubs - *Won NL Central at 96-65, lost in NLCS. We were loaded that season and just gave away the NLCS with blunders. Sandberg won League MVP that season. Sutcliffe was almost un-hittable all season. That was a fun team to watch. 1. 2016 Cubs - *Won NL Central at 103-58, won NL Pennant, won the World Series. Voted by the MLB media as a top 5 team of all-time in history. Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Zobrist, Jake, Lester, Hendricks, Chap - what can I say
  8. Cubs win their 2nd game in a row at Milwaukee by 1 run. This division is comical. The NL Central standings going into July 6th: 1. Reds 48-39 2. Brewers 46-41 (2 back) 3. Cubs 40-45 (7 back) 4. Pirates 40-46 (7.5 back) 5. Cards 35-51 (12.5 back) = Ouch! We are back in 3rd place but 7 back of the Reds. Why doesn't Joe Buck and the silly media push for the Cards to blow it up? They did with the Cubs in 2021 and that Cubs team wasn't near as bad as the Cards are this season. Here is Joe Buck = - 2 best franchises in MLB history haven't won jack over the last 10 years. Yankees last won a World Series in 2009, Cards last won a World Series in 2011. That is why fans should appreciate the history of the game because sometimes memories are all you will have. At least the Cubs won a World Series in 2016 which is pretty recent. Recent = last 10 years. This generation = 20 years ago to now (Colts 2006/Feb of 2007- happened 16 years ago). Outside of 20 years ago, many seem to ignore history. I don't, but many do. Athletes today are no better than 10 or even 20 years ago for that matter. Pitchers today can rarely even go 9 Innings and they don't throw any harder than they did 20 years ago. Chapman once threw 105 MPH . Football -Offensive Lineman weight on average is pretty much the same today as it was 20 years ago (no outliers). Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are on a different planet, they came out over 20 years ago and dominated well into the 2010's. Basketball wise, you have had players like Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan dominating, nobody today is better than those 3 over the last 20 years. LeBron also came into the league in 2004 as well.
  9. UMP's tried to cheat for the Brewers and we still beat them last night. Nice try
  10. See my post above, problem is, Emmitt didn't have a great Line for 13 years.
  11. You are digging a hole really deep on this subject. Also the narrative that Emmitt Smith had a great Offensive Line his whole career is nonsense. His Line was great from 1992-1996, basically 5 years in his 15 year career. Those 5 years standout because the Cowboys were dominant as a team. In 1997 the Cowboys O.Line struggled big-time, and several years after that that line had new faces and was injury prone. Larry Allen was great most of his career and he wasn't even on the team in 1992 or 1993. He was a rookie in 1994. The Cowboys basically had the greatest O.Line ever for a period of 3 years from 1994-1996. Barry Sanders had Lomas Brown almost his whole career, he is a top 10 LT of all-time (arguably top 5 ever) so it is not like he played with doo doo his whole career either. Brown made all-pro in 1995 and 2nd team all-pro 4 times while with the Lions.
  12. Maybe he would have had more? You lost me though when you said 5000 more.
  13. Good call, when I was watching the MLB channel, the analysts brought up great teams that were top 5 omissions, the 1964 Cards was one of them. They also talked about the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers, 1973 A's, and the 1984 Tigers. That A's core actually 3peated and had 3 20 game winners in 73.
  14. Cubs are an average team and I just have to face it for now. They were fun to watch for a couple of weeks in June but they can't sustain any kind of winning. Way too inconsistent. I hope the Reds win the division if we are out of it by August. I hate the Brewers and their fans are arrogant. Cards are just a big rival, I don't like them but respect them. Pirates just stink so I know they have no chance at winning the division. Cubs lack a true big time power HR hitter, and a great reliever to compete with the big boys. They have lost so many 1 run games this year because their BullPen stinks. Sad really. Here is the up to date greatest ever teams list per MLB post Intergration (1947-2022). As of July 3rd, 2023. 1. 1998 NY Yankees 2. 1961 NY Yankees 3. 1975 Cincinnati Reds 4. 1986 NY Mets 5. 2016 Chicago Cubs Per MLB - these were the top 5 teams of all-time since 1947 and voted as toughest to beat in any 1 year. Cubs 2016 team made the Top 5 so that is huge praise - I pretty much agree with that list. The 2 Yankees teams deserve to be #1 and #2. That is really tough to debate.
  15. Going back to this, leaving LaDainian Tomlinson off the top 10 could be criticized, it came down to him and Earl. I chose Earl.
  16. John Riggins and Larry Csonka weren't brought up either, both basically FB's but were primary runners.
  17. Edge is top 20, I am surprised nobody brought him up. Gayle Sayers had a real short career so ranking him is tough. He did make the Hall of Fame though.
  18. Emmitt and Walter had a lot of the same intangibles is why I said they were clones. Clone may have been too strong of word. Going to a Top 10, I would say: 1. Jim Brown 2. Emmitt Smith 3. Walter Payton 4. Barry Sanders 5. Eric Dickerson 6. Adrian Peterson 7. Tony Dorsett 8. Marshall Faulk 9. Franco Harris 10. Earl Campbell RB's/FB's/Runners.
  19. Earl's speed was deceiving. He once had an 81 yard TD run in a game and looked a sprinter. I will say this, I would probably put Peterson at #6 after looking at everything. I still stick with my top 5 in Brown, Emmitt, Walter, Barry, and Dick. Peterson and Dick were beautiful Runners to watch when they got in the open field. Another name nobody has mentioned is Terrell Davis, short career is why but Elway never won a SB until he got to Denver. He also was one of the few that had a 2000 yard rushing season.
  20. Early leak, Marcus Stroman makes the 2023 All-Star Game. He is talking about it now. He is only 5'7, he looks taller on TV
