  1. I'd like to point out something.

During the Manning years, the main complaint from fans was lack of defense, specifically a defense that couldn't stop the run.  Another major complaint was the lack of running game to go along with Mannings' incredible passing attack.

NOW... We actually have a defense that can stop the run.  The DLine is turning into the strength of our defense (with 2 rookies, no less).

We have a running game.  Gore has shown that our OLine isn't as bad as everyone insisted when TRich was embarassing everybody wearing a horseshoe.

The weakness in this team seems to be poor play-calling from some coaches, and poor decisions from some players (most notably Luck, and OLine holding penalties).

It appears that we have a well-balanced roster.  If the coaching and play-calling steadily improve this season, we COULD get another Lombardi.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic here, but it seems like Irsay gave the fans what we've been clamoring for, and we just need everything to gel in time for a playoff run.

  2. I remember after the play, I was so glad that the coaching staff realized they needed a spark.  They were staring at 0-3 because of un-inspired static play-calling.

If Boomstick did that on his own, haha, I bet the coaches were thanking him anyway!  He might've saved a job or two today...

  3. MODS SHUT THIS DOWN!!  DELETE THE WHOLE THING!!!  HE IS GOING TO JINX LUCK!!!

Seriously, though, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope Luck starts diving feet first.  We might think that 1st down is worth it, but it only takes one bad hit to the head...

As a fan, I used to hate watching Manning hit the deck as soon as someone breathed too loudly in his direction while he was in the pocket.  But they don't call him the most "cerebral" QB ever for no good reason, he was protecting himself, and he was smart to do so.  Luck could learn A LOT from Manning, like how to get rid of the ball quickly to protect yourself when your OLine isn't playing well... hmmm, sounds familiar...

  4. Let's all agree to disagree. Some of us think it's ridiculous to have a o-lineman cry like baby for playing badly. Others think we should give the young man words of encouragement and not be to hard on the kid. Bottom line Thorton needs to elevate his play just like everyone else on the line. I hope dude turns into a pro-bowler and cries every game.

HAH!  If it creates more wins and gets us a Super Bowl, heck, they can have crying parties before each game and I'd be OK with it.

  5. What is his problem? After one holding penalty in particular (of which there were several!), Luck puts his hand on his shoulder, and Thorton shakes Luck away. Then when Thorton is on the sideline, Chuck Pagano puts two hands on Thorton's helmet, looks him straight in the eyes, and lectures him on something. Then, wait... Is Thorton crying!? Save the crying for the national anthem.

There's a lot of o-line issues, so I hate to single one man out, but let's start by getting rid of the men who cry and work our way up.

He was CRYING. Not out of passion. Because he was HORRIBLE. And Pagano BABIED him. Kick him off the team today. Make him take his own plane home and fly coach. He's a BABY. A SOFT BABY. I'm so disgusted at this. He was CRYING!!!!!!!!!

That Incognito thing got blown so far out of proportion it wasn't funny. This is a man's league. We've all played sports. sometimes a young guy gets picked on a little bit. So what. Be a man, be tough and go on. The league is going so soft. 15 years ago nobody would have batted an eye at bullying in an NFL locker room. It would have been laughed at. If I were Jonathan Martin I would have been so embarrassed to come out and say I was an NFL player and I was being bullied in the locker room. LOL.

True. But you still gotta hide that man. He's supposed to be a big brute, meathead Offensive Lineman. The only time I ever cried during a game was after a 6th grade basketball game. We got beat at the last second and I walked off the floor in tears. Man my whole family jumped my hind end for that LOL. Especially my Grandpa.

Really??? I don't care about his bio, that's not why he is here. He's here to play football. That's it. And he's standing on the sidelines crying like a little baby because he can't do his job. He's had far too many chances and knows it's likely over. At least hold the tears in for after the game. He is mentally weak, exactly why we are perceived as a soft team. My god if we could have that big bully Incognito I would be so happy but no, he's not a "horseshoe" guy.

Seriously. We need guys like that. A lot of the time guys like that are....Winners. They put winning first and foremost and had rather be in physical pain than to lose. We need some guys like Bernard Pollard. Being the nice team isn't going to get us anywhere. This is the NFL. Its a mans league. But like I said its trying to turn soft with the rest of the world lol.

As always?? Really guy? Coming from someone who didn't start watching the Colts until Luck was drafted from your favorite college?

Anyone who saw the exchange and knows what type of person Pagano is knows he had both hands on his face while he was crying and he just gave him some soft words of encouragement to make the tears go away. "You can do it! It's all in your head. If you believe you can achieve. You're already a champion in my book. Just cut the mistakes." Instead of blasting him for being soft and to get out there and do the job he's being paid tons of money to do horribly.

Players get emotional which is understandable. I think of Vernon Davis scoring a TD in the playoffs. But crying after missing blocks and getting called for penalties is not an excuse to cry on the sideline.

Continue to call me clueless but it's new fans like you that make us all look stupid to the outside NFL world.

I really, really, REALLY hope none of you are raising sons...

  6. And I say we should have traded for Brandon Marshall instead of signing AJ. And I think AJ will be fine this year. Marshall's just better and would have given us that "win at all cost" mentality that we need.

Wait til we have a winning record and are headed to the playoffs and AJ does NOT talk down about other CBs and how they need to get better.

Meanwhile, Marshall will be complaining about the Jets losing season, and how it's someone elses' fault and not his that they miss the playoffs.

  7. :bossy:

Listen here, see, you're gone, see, we're goin in a different direction, see...

    :bossy:

You're too predictable, see, we need flexiblity, see, we gotta evolve and adapt, see...

    :bossy:

We had enough bowling balls of butcher knives chopping wood, see, we had enough gritty guys puttin in the work with nothin to show, see, no more character guys trustin in the system, ya see?

  8. haha, but what about your personality? I'm not going to take any crap, in a Chip Kelly, way it will be my way or the high way, gotta take these players to work and get them learning my scheme, Do you think they will let me use the XBOX at half time to game plan the 2nd half? I hear Spider 2 Y Banana is uncoverable.

XBOX? I already won this competition.  My PS4 gives that Spider 2 Banana play a little extra umph.

Plus, if personality is a factor, I beat out Belichick by default, so I'm already better than Belichick from the get-go... right?

  9. Oh, no I'm serious. We really wont know my HC potential until i'm a HC, lol

Like I said before, I'll do it. Can't be any worse. I play madden, lol.

But what if my madden team is better than your madden team?  Shouldn't I be the HC?  We should conduct a fantasy draft and compare game-by-game strategies post-draft.  Two fans enter, one fan leaves... as the NEW BELICHICK!!!

  10. Given all the rhetoric about firing our current GM, HC, and OC, I had an idea.

Coaches have legions of scouts to scout prospective players for said coaches.

Do owners have "scouts" to "scout" prospective GMs and coaches for the team?

Did anyone tell Irsay that Grigson and Pagano would be good?

Did anyone tell Robert Kraft that Belichick was going to be THIS good?

If the Colts are going to make a change in the Front Office, how do they go about it, and WHO do they ask for input?

  11. No thanks. I'd like to see a Belichick assistant succeed somewhere. All of them have been bad once they leave: Weis, Crennel, McDaniels, Mangini, Pioli, Lombardi... O'Brien is still TBD, but it doesn't look great so far. Let me see one of his guys do a good job over a sustained period of time. Until then, they are all riding his coattails. The one guy I might make an exception for is Matt Patricia, but I wouldn't be eager to do that.

McDaniels failed because he was given total roster control and blew up the team. IIRC he had the Kyle Orton led Broncos at 6-0 at one point.

It's really hard to judge everyone on Belichicks' coaching tree because it's in progress and it's such a hard tree to define.

Walshs' tree was a west coast offense tree.

Dungys' tree was a tampa 2 defense tree.

Ryans' tree was an attacking defense tree.

Lombardis' tree was a power run tree.

Johnsons' tree was a "make a million trades for the best roster" tree.

Belichicks' tree is like every other tree rolled into one, plus he's got these bushes at the base of the tree that may or may not be helping the tree, but there's no way to prove if he's been responsible for the bushes the whole time...

I think Belichick is the reason for NEs' success, and all of his "successful" assistants have just benefitted from Belichick making them look good.

  12. they have won one super bowl in my life and i'm 33 years old.  we dont look close now so yeah i am impatient.

i dont expect to win it every year, but i expect to contend when we have a good QB and talent on both sides of the ball.  not to mention we play in a terrible division.  the talent was there last year to hang with the patriots and they got embarrassed twice.  not just beaten, but embarrassed

ask irsay if he expects excellence

I'm 32, so I have that one SB as well.  But let's put that into context, do you know how many fans have lived and died without seeing their team even make it to the SB?

I want a SB every year, but I know that's not realistic, and I'm happy I got to see a Colts SB win in my lifetime.  On top of that, I got to see Manning, Dungy, and Polian finally win one.

What if we had done what the fans wanted at the end of the 2006 regular season and fired Dungy for not improving our D enough, and Polian for not bringing in the right talent?

  13. time to start a search.  were grigs and pagano on your radar at this point in 2011?

So go search for their replacements and come back when you have a valid argument like Dustin.  I'm not calling for their heads, so I don't need to search for their replacements.  That's your job.

    Nick Caserio and Josh McDaniels.

Thank you.  I assume McDaniels would be our OC, which is OK by me, although both have the Belichick taint.  I doubt either will do well outside of NE.  At least they could be considered viable replacements.

  14. 11-5, win the division, we'll see what happens in the playoffs.

Hmmm... this sounds familiar.  Wait, didn't we start 0-2 last year and make it to the AFCCG?

Haven't we progressed one game farther into the postseason each season since the new regime took over?

So the final record will be 15-5 right?  or 14-6 if we lose the SB... Would that be acceptable for everyone? 15-5 or 14-6?

  15. its time to start looking.  were grigson and pagano on your radar at this point in 2011?  the sooner irsay finds an answer the better.

at the very least its time to take a long look at pep

You just re-iterated that you wanted these people fired, yet offered NO VIABLE REPLACEMENT!

So, again, I will ask this very simply.

WHO do you want to replace Grigson, Pagano, and Pep?  WHO is/will be available to replace them, AND do a better job?

WHO?!?  Don't complain about something unless you have a solution to the problem.

  16. does it matter?  the colts are no where near being a super bowl team.  who cares about winning another AFC south title and getting bounced by the first good team we meet in the playoffs?

It matters to me.  I care.  I think the Colts win the AFC South and get into the playoffs.  After that, all bets are off, we just need to get to the dance.

Oh ye of little faith, get your head out your butt, all we need is a chance to bring home a second Lombardi.

  17. Enough said, *

    Replacements?

Burn it down. Same undisciplined, turnover prone, high variance Colts teams. All of that talent on offense and 21 points in 2 games. This team has hit it's ceiling with Grigson and Pagano.

Into the trash this regime goes.

    Replacements?

Fire both grigs and pag has to go!! Who cares if it's two game into the season. We continue to play like this under this regime we are gonna lose anyways. So why not fireboth of them now and see what happens!

    Replacements?

Fire em all. Start over. Gross.

    Replacements?

Pagona, Manusky, And Pep all has to go.

    Replacements?

So, I've slept on it, and now I'm 100% sure someone should be fired this morning. Make it happen Irsay.

    Replacements?

I'm ready to clean house. Pagano and Grigson need to leave ASAP. This team is a huge mess.

    Replacements?

Grigson should do the Colts a solid and resign today. He has proven to be bad at his job.

    Replacements?

Who the heck is going to replace everyone that "needs" to be fired?  And if we tank the season to get a top pick in the draft, again, who the heck is going to coach this now unstoppable team that is going to go from 0-16 to 16-0 because of one top-ten draft pick?
