Thanks to everyone for a fun draft, all pretty decent looking teams, some better than others (you decide).
My strength is in my WR position, so long as my RB's stay healthy I feel good. Unfortunately I always have a an RB end up on IR. So at least I got some trade capital.
How's everyone else feel?
I feel the same. What was it last year “don’t take a RB early” and this year the RB’s went like wild fire.

In no particular order.....
Luck
Hilton
Kelly
Nelson
Castonzo
Doyle
Hooker
I would also probably put Jacoby Brissett on the list, as he is probably one of our 10 best players right now, hopefully some other guys break out and take his spot.
The last couple spots need to be determined during the season, but there is no shortage of guys who could make a claim with a strong performance this year.
Braden Smith
Eric Ebron
Marlon Mack
Jordan Wilkins
Jabaal Sheard
John Simon
Tyquan Lewis
Denico Autry
Hassan Ridgeway
Kemoko Turay
Darius Leonard
Clayton Geathers
Quincy Wilson
Nate Hairston
I think all of these guys will get an opportunity to make a name for himself. And hopefully, enough of them will capitalize.
My personal favorites to make the list are Eric Ebron, Hassan Ridgeway and Darius Leonard. Ebron is very talented and I just think people are sleeping on that signing, and what it could do for our offense. Ridgeway has been our best defensive lineman so far and looks great. Leonard is a huge upgrade over what we had last year at LB, and thats not a very bold statement.
So much depends on health. Maybe we get lucky and everybody stays healthy? Maybe everyone gets hurt again? The Colts roster is not nearly as bad as people say, they have had horrible luck with injuries that have made it look worse than it is. If they were truly that bad off, how in the world did they lead so many games last year, despite being absolutely decimated by injuries? I think people are judging it purely on paper and forgetting that every team has a flawed roster, sans 1 or 2 at the most. You are competing against the league, not the ideal roster on paper.
A team with Andrew Luck can't possibly be too far off. We aren't loaded by any means, and do need to continue to bring in more talent. But I want us to focus on adding specific things. We need a top shelf pass rusher. We dont need any more complementary guys, we have several already. And we need a really good corner to play opposite Quincy, and allow us to keep Hairston as a slot. I also think we need to start thinking about a LT, hopefully one that can hold down RT for a year or two.
Pretty good post and I agree with just about everything. I would say Autry has been the best DL so far though, and I think his absence was felt in the run game Saturday vs. 49ers. Ridgeway has been good, not saying he hasn’t. I just think Autry has been all around better. Ridgeway gets after the QB, no doubt, but he wasn’t much vs the run, IMO. And he wasn’t near as good vs the 49ers 1st team as he has been against the 2’s and 3’s this preseason, which is where his sacks have come from.

I can see the Colts trading John Simon. I think he would have some value and there are enough younger defensive linemen I can see the Colts preferring to play. I'm not sure now though after his injury.
I hope not. All he does is hustle and make plays every time he is in the game. It better be for a solid starter if he is traded!

Thank you. CB Obi Melifonwu, waived by the Raiders yesterday, is another name I think would be a nice addition with Lenzy Pipkins and Pierre Desire already in the fold.
The story I read had him listed as an always injured Safety though. Is he a CB or S?

I’m with you on Hunt. Maybe he and one of the TE’s (not Doyle or Ebron) could be packaged for another DL, LB, CB or Tackle that is buried behind some good talent. Or even a WR but I bet he wants to see what he has there first, along with the RB position.
-
I wonder if he has any running backs on his list. He probably doesn’t as I’m sure he wants to see what he has in the young guys he drafted the last two years, but I read some articls today on Bleacher Report (I know, I know) that suggested Ameer Abdullah, C.J. Prosise, and Charcandrick West could be roster cuts. Now although none of them are superstars, I think they are all as good as what we currently have. I’d be especially interested in West and Abdullah.

Thanks guys, I thought maybe I reached on a couple, fingers crossed David Johnson comes right back to his ‘16-‘17 form.
The only thing that stands out to me is the two TE’s. I wouldn’t of done it, not saying it was bad though depending on when you got them and who all was available. But Kelce should be your starter every week except his bye week.

Excellent job for a 10 man league. A+ draft. Keep up with it throughout the year!
David Johnson Cardinals RB
Lol no kidding. I don’t know why I saw that and thought Duke Johnson!! I was worried he messed up on his first round, but not now.

Thoughts on my 10-man standard draft?
QB-Brees
RB-D. Johnson, K. Drake, M. Lynch, T. Coleman, C. Carson
WR-Baldwin, K. Allen, M. Jones Jr., Corey Davis, A. Hurns, C. Meredith
TE-Kelce, E. Engram
Broncos D/ST and K Robbie Gould
I gave the draft a B-, would have graded it a tic lower but taking other players’ drafts into consideration, the talent is very evenly spread.
Will be following the waivers closely this season.
Who was your first round pick?

For sure. I just think worse case scenario he gets cut just like Morrison was going to get cut.

Odds on either guy making the teams?
I’d say Pipkins will make our team, otherwise why trade for him? Surely Ballard likes something about him and thinks he has shot.

A little something I found on him. From what I’ve read so far is he has potential but is still a little raw.

I like it. The corner might not make the team, or might only be depth, but Morrrison wasn’t going to make the team either so might as well try something.

This is one reason an Option O key off the DE or OLB
Understood.
That’s what I am asking though, is it the DE’s responsibility or LB’s? I know it’s one or the other! It just seems like I notice Hunt chasing down the QB a lot and the RB going right past him. Or biting on play action and the QB rolling out behind him. Hunt seems to get upfield, but sometimes it seems it’s too far and the run goes beside him. I’m just trying to figure out if he is playing it right and a LB is supposed to be filling in or if Hunt is the weak link?

yea, and it's a knee. don't count on good news coming out of Colts injury headquarters. we're going to see how deep we are real quick. its the colts, we drop like flies when it comes to injuries. probably should have snagged a major FA o-linemen just because we knew that our existing o-linemen would have to shift to other places just to make up for injured o-linemen next to them or on the other side of the ball. it really is a broken record at this point. and on D, if simon is out for the year, i will have no words.
Yea I think we have already seen our depth at RT & LT and it’s not good. I am assuming Castonzo comes back for week 1 but we still need to find a starting RT. Webb didn’t do bad tonight, but I’m not sure he is the long term answer and neither is Haeg. Clark and Howard probably don’t deserve to make the 53 man roster. So Smith or Webb it is?
Its unfortunate about Simon and hopefully it’s not major because he is needed on this D in a bad way.

If that is your marker, that's probably a fair assessment.
Ok, well I just rewatched each one of his plays to make sure. In pass protection he was good. Maybe allowed one pressure, no sacks. His run blocking was so so.

Nah. Definitely meaningless. Should be 2 games. And only the rookies, 2nd year players, and the other bodies from the 90 man should play
Starters/Stars shouldn’t touch the field
Starters/stars don’t have to touch the field as it is now. Yet they do, I wonder if that’s because they need it? I think Luck needed all the playing time he got this preseason.
I get what your saying but if it was as meaningless as you say, it would be changed by now.

The NFL preaches player safety but yet has four meaningless preseason games.
Meaningless to us fans, sure. To the coaches and players trying to make the team, not so much.

I believe the coaches and players when they say they aren’t hardly even in the playbook yet. Luck is going to be fine, I just hope the plays and play calling gets better. They can scheme receivers open and the running game looked bad tonight but they kept running into stacked boxes all night too. I hope that changes in the regular season.

I didn’t think Webb did horrible tonight.....am I wrong?

Does anyone think Irsay might have been talking about Mack tonight when he said they have had the opportunities to hurry this along but really want to do it the right way through the draft?
