  1. Hey SW1....

I agree and would love to keep TY but he is simply not a Megatron, Dez, AJG, Brown, or JJ. TY can and has been completely taken out of games. Big time WR's don't let that happen. They get open or simplymake something out of nothing. Thats just not TY. He is very good but I have a feeling some team is going to make him an offer he can't refuse and grossly overpay for him.

We will see how it un folds. This O is going to be really good.

  2. No way in hell is TY a "true" 1. He is a very good player that is NOT a Antonio Brown type. TY scores when he has clean sailing ahead of him. He is not a make it happen after the catch type. If he wants more than 8 m per I don't see Indy paying him.

If Moncrief and Dorsett play well he won't be back if he's expecting Dez money. No way Indy can afford it. AC is the priority. Indy will do the right thing.

  3.

Put an REAL OL in front of Andrew Luck...       and I do not care who the skill guys are...     I DONT>

And then put a REAL STRONG DL on D......        Stop the run and get the QB.....     We will see...

But a mobile QB like Andrew will make ANY WR look good..    BUT this D is SO suspect the "powers that be" think we will have to OUT SCORE the opponent...    OK...

Havent we seen this path before?      Get tough up front and it will all fall into place.

  4. Any QB that could not MOVE would have gotten IR'd fast the last few years.....

Lets hope we don't get to find out for real.      I think Luck's 4th Q comeback stats should tell you all one needs to know.

By no means am I saying he is a lousy quarterback, but I cringe every time I see a sports writer claim that the Colts are Andrew Luck and just a bunch of other guys. I wince every time I see a fan criticize Grigson and the coaching staff for "failing to put talent around Andrew."

Andrew has put up better statistics in his first three seasons than any other QB in history has in their first three years. He's an excellent quarterback, but why do people act like it is the team around Luck that is holding him back? Do people really expect him to be throwing 75 TDs a season at this point in his career?

The Colts have put great offensive talent around him since the day they drafted him. Reggie Wayne never got the credit he deserved because he caught passes from two outstanding QBs. TY Hilton is an afterthought in most peoples minds, a product of Superman Andrew Luck. Nobody mentions Coby Fleener when talking about excellent young TEs, just another guy who gets his stats from playing with 12. Dwayne Allen and Donte Moncrief are very talented as well, but nobody outside of Indy knows who these guys are.

"You can give Andrew Luck any receiver and youll have a productive one" ...except thats just true. Ask Darrius Heyward Bey. Ask Hakeem Nicks. These guys were reclamation projects, everyone thought that Luck would make them successful just by being Andrew Luck, but he couldn't. You can argue that these guys simply didnt get open...but the great quarterbacks are able to hit their receivers even when they are NOT open. Not saying Luck is inaccurate, but he could really stand to improve his ball placement and decision making at times. He is not on the same level as Drew Brees, Rodgers or Manning...not yet.

Luck gets the credit for comeback wins against the Chiefs and the Browns, but everyone forgets the poor throws that dug them into those holes. Look at all the blowout defeats we have suffered the last three years and youll see Andrew making poor throws and questionable decisions early and often. Colts fans complain about how we consistently come out slow early in games, but no one is willing to hang that on Luck. They want to blame the backs and the coaches and the playcalling and every one else. One of the reasons our run game struggles is because 12 hasnt yet shown the ability to consistently beat the blitz.

My favorite player on the Colts is TY Hilton. Often, people are surprised by this. "You have the best QB ever and hes not even your favorite player?" and I respond: "Because its TY out there each week, getting open and making Luck look good."

Again, I love having Andrew Luck. He deserves credit. But you cant give him the credit for the Colts turn around and then discredit the effort from the receivers, the linemen, the coaches, and the defense. Andrew doesnt do it ALL himself. I have watched every Colts game over the last two season on DirecTV Sunday Ticket. I have watched Luck torch defenses and I have seen Luck struggle. I went to the Browns game this year and sawhim make several baffling throws in person. Theres a reason his INT totals are so high, and its not his o-line.

It just seems like 12 gets all the credit for our wins, but fans are quick to excuse him for our bad games and blame it on the 52 guys around him. Hes going into his fourth year, still on his rookie contract. Can we please stop acting like hes a ten year vet who has it all figured out?

    Sorry, rant over haha

  5.

On O I think 3 have a chance, the C Vitabile, RB Vargas, and maybe OT Good

On D I think they brought in some VERY draftable players  LB/SS Sylvestre, LB Hodges, LB Hartsfield, LB Galea, S Celiscar, and S Robert Smith....  not of the Cure but from Clemson.

I would almost bet the ranch Celiscar and Sylvestre make this team ....  on the  53 man roster.     I want to see the LB'res also in preseason because if they can get pressure on the QB this D staff will have some tough decisions to make.

Mathis is also a factor for these young LB's ...     If Robert can't play then one of them will make the team.

  6. Good catch..   I caught my boo boo too late to edit...   hehee

I just divided by ten...   I'm tired and drinking and I actually do have a degree in accounting..  YIKESSSS    I pay more attention to my returns...   :)

but it is still a  HUGE workload for a guy 32 years old..     And in 2013 he RAN the ball 312 times...    the next season Jimbo toned it BACK    some due to injury..  some ....    he knows.

I just hope Indy takes good care of FG...     It would be fantastic to get into the playoffs with a FRESH FRANK GORE, with all the speed this team has at WR....       Look out NFL.

MAJOR EDIT...  i was looking at his stats in REVERSE order....    Frank Gore has 1072 carries SINCE 2011...

He is 32 years old...      that is actually a worse scenario that I actually complained about. So from ages 28 - 31 he has averaged about 268 carries a year?   Really...    on top of the other 1600+ carries...    He is either the BIONIC man or he will hit the wall hard.    AND soon more likely than not...

He has been durable as heck...

John,   please tell me you have a professional doing your taxes!    Please tell me you don't do them yourself!   (Not a knock, I take mine to someone!)

I'm just saying your math is not just off,  it's WAY off.    Hugely off.

2784 touches in 10 years IS NOT 27 per game.    Not even close.

2784 touches in 10 years is 278 per year.     Which then gets divided by roughly 16 games.    A few years Gore didn't play the full 16 game schedule.      But, for now,   we'll divide 278 by 16 and you get 17.4 touches per game.    That's carries AND receptions.

But,  let's call it on average 15 games he played a year and you get 18.5 touches per game.

If you call it 14 games per year,  then the math is 19.85 touches per game.    Still not even close to your figure of 27 per game.

And if you look again at his 10 year career,  you'll see that Gore's last 4 years have arguably been as good as his first 6 years.   In short,  he's showing no signs of slowing down.

The guy gets roughly 1,100 yards rushing per year.    The Colts would be thrilled with that.   But even if we only get 950-1000, the Colts will be happy.    As long as he's churning out roughly 4-yards per carry,  Gore is doing the job we've hired him to do.

I'm guessing Gore will get roughly 16-20 touches a game.   16 is the low end,  20 is likely the high end.    It appears like he's got two good years left in him.

  7.

If the D is bad Luck could realistically challenge Manning's record..      If the D is "pretty good" and Indy can run "a little" ..      He will be around 40 IMO.

Everything is situational...   Heck if Indy has the AFC S, and AFC in general wrapped up in week 15 or so...  he may miss games?

He's going to have a great year that is all  i would bet on.   26 years old and not close to his prime.      Colt fans are truly blessed.

i just wish Grigs would just go out and INVEST in the OL full go....   because if this team could run the ball....   We WILL SEE STAR WARS numbers.    It's been all Luck so far ...  just wait until they get a TEAM around him.   It's getting close but the D is not there yet.    O...     look out.

  8. I hope it's around the same...  and Brad was 29 years old.

I can't believe so many actually expect a 32 year old Frank Gore to come in and be a bell cow?

Just not realistic.    A great piece YES .... .   a 250 carry back...   No way.

Bradshaw had 140 touches in 10 games last season. You expect Gore to have less involvement than him?

  9. I think our OL was badly hampered last year by injuries.

We led the NFL in the one category you DON'T WANT to lead in....   most different OL combinations -- 11.

When you don't have continuity on the OL,  you don't have good OL play.

Combine that with a very poor group of running backs and you get what we saw for roughly the 2nd half of the season,  an offense that could stall out against a decent defense....

ONE bad RB,  Brad and Boom played well all year...    and I agree Indy's OL issues are largely due to injury / no continuity.     BUT they still need to prove they can stay in the game first and second get the job done.

Indy did not focus on the OL in the draft so to me that says they have confidence in the unit.    And honestly I do to if they can all stay in the game.

    Time will tell.

  10. OK man...

Frank is 32 years old NFL 10 year starter...     He is a power back,  and he has 2,784 career touches on his body.    that is 27 per game over 10 years....    Time simply catches up..     at some point.     I love me some Frank Gore...    but damn ...   to expect this guy at his age to CARRY THE MAIL every day is silly.

Keep him fresh like they were doing with Brad and come $$$ time give the opponent a BIG dose of Gore.     Won't happen tho if Indy expects him to be a 20+ carry guy.   Teams will get a BIG DOSE of a 32 year old back worked to death.    I would like to think they / INDY know that.

Do not be surprised to see Brad back after his "GODell punishment" comes down .....      And that would be LOVELY.

Bye the way the reason he looked so "fresh" last season...     He only touched the rock 142 times in 14 games....

EXACTLY how I hope INDY uses him.       Harbaugh is no *, lets hope Chuck isn't either.

What makes you think Gore won't get over 200 touches?    That's carries AND receptions.

    I think he'll have 200 carries alone......    that's only 12.5 per game.

If not,  we're not using him right.

  11. Stop with the hyperbole ...    NOBODY ran AB out of town...   HE took the $$$$$$   and ran...

And I am telling you right now...   This S group is fine....

Not at all. My argument is if the players you have arent very good, you should not be closed minded regarding potential upgrades. While some may believe that Swearinger sucks, I believe there is a strong possibility that he may suck less than Lowery and is more "ready" than Geathers.

No one on the Texans D is very good aside from Watt and Cushing when healthy.

Compared to who, Laron Landry? Adams is HOF compared to him.

Geathers is an unproven 5th round rookie. Though i like the pick, he isnt worthy of being called good by NFL standards just yet.

Adams and Lowery are both the epitome well traveled journeyman.

Geathers and Celiscar are both unproven rookies and I have no idea who Sylvestre is.

As of right now, not a single one of our safeties is any better than Antione Bethea was for us and Colts fans ran him out of town with torches and pitchforks!
