Maybe so but I was here every day and there were some pretty upset people that we signed JT to a new deal. There were even a few that wanted us to trade him for like a 4th round pick while he still wasn't extended.

With me, I want to make it clear, I am not defending JT because he is a Colt. I post that because I have been accused of defending Colts players in the past because they play for us. I just really believe at worse he is a top 3 RB in the league is why I defend the signing. I thought it was the right thing to do for the Giants to extend Barkley and I don't even like the Giants. Barkley is top 5 IMO.

Not everyone has to agree. You can defend Colts players as you wish.

I think that some fans did not want JT to be re-signed because of what happened during the summer with him and his agent. From the perspective of some fans, JT seemed more concerned about himself than about the team. They wanted him to suffer the consequences of his actions/decisions.

This will sound cruel, but the best option is to draft a good RB and ride him till his rookie deal is up, then draft a new one. I hate that for RBs - I really do, but it is what it is.

I get it. I would actually do that with the QB position unless I have a guy that can do more with less, like Mahomes or Rodgers. I don't want my team to pay a player $40 Million if the player is one-dimentional.

There were plenty of posters in here that were butthurt that we signed JT. Several posters wanted him traded and several posters were constantly talking about how the RB is irrelevant in today's game.

I think someone can hold those sentiments and not be "butthurt". Many people think that teams should not invest long term on running backs. Remember Todd Gurley? That guy was the next great RB. He seemed to have vanished after a few years in the league. I think he was more highly thought of than JT. Imagine having given him JT money.

I support giving JT the money but I can understand fans that may not agree with it.

Some of us just think it was the wrong decision based on how the game is played currently.

Many of the young offensive minds do not seem to value the run game much, but the passing-dominated offense puts pressure on the defense and special teams. Good teams can use the run game and short passing game to get first downs and move the chains. That helps the defense to rest and takes time off the clock.  Nowadays, some teams are so enamored with passing that they abandon the run game altogether even when the situation calls for it (when taking time off the clock is most important). These offenses often go three and out, putting the defense back on the field rather than giving them a break.

I don't like the power running game or the passing-dominated game. I like a balance of passing and running.

Completely off topic but related to the QB position. I’ve stated a couple times this team messed up by not trading up for Tua or Herbert. They over estimated how good the team really was and went “all in” with Buckner and Rivers. I thought we were in position to move up to 4 and get a franchise guy. I wanted Tua that year. Would have been expensive but I would rather have Tua than Buckner, Paye and possibly another pick around the 3rd who was Blackmon that year.

Choosing not to reset and draft someone after Luck retired could ultimately set this franchise back a decade. Nothing but speculation on my end and what is done is done. Just not happy we went through all the mess and on our 2nd coach to end up with relying on keeping AR healthy enough to use his athleticism to make plays when the regular season beats the heck out of players. Just seems like wishful thinking to expect AR to not get nicked up. Unless he develops rapidly as a passer, any kind of lower body injury that slightly hobbles him will hold this offense back. Now we have the shoulder. Just not a good place to be.

Thanks for replying. I hear you, but what should give fans hope is that AR is very young yet he has shown poise, has played much better than expected, and has a good work ethic. I think he will put in the work to improve. He is only 21!!  Unlike other QBs that play that style of football, he is not looking to run first ; he seems to look to pass unless there are designed runs called.

I like him a lot. My only concern is that he is getting hurt too much. He will get better.

Not really, QBR isn't the tell all. AR was still 22nd in QBR rating, far from the worst. Watson, Howell, and Dobbs all have a QBR rating higher than AR and those QB's have looked like doo doo. I go by the whole picture of what I am watching, not 1 stat to fit a narrative. Kirk Cousins is 2nd in the league in passing yards and he isn't even a top 10 QB. If I wanted to make Yards my narrative, I could say Kirk is the 2nd best QB in the league and great, which is far from the truth.

These ratings all have their flaws and do not make sense at timez. The Athletic has their own rating similar to QBR. They had Richardson rated higher than Minshew before the last game. However, it shows Minshew doing better after the Jacksonville game despite how poorly he played.

Thanks for the thorough reply. I’ve mentioned it once I believe, but try to keep this to myself bc the board overwhelmingly is positive on the guy.  I don’t think AR is going to work out for us long term. He may put up a few good years but I think injuries will take away his athleticism for 2-5 games minimum every year. Come playoff time(if we ever make it with him starting), if he gets banged up I’m not sure his arm will be able to carry us through.  This style of QB is new to the modern NFL so it’s really hard to judge. All I can really do is wait and see what happens. Still, I would much prefer a pocket passer with mobility than a super athletic freak that is still learning how to throw the ball accurately.

Who did you want the Colts to draft this year?

Pittsburgh is stunning City with classical architecture, I loved being there.. saw the stadium from outside. Rivers and mountains (few mountain tunnels to pass through going from Philly) during the fall are awesome, should be nice to visit at this part of time.

It sounds nice. I have to visit. I love nature -- mountains and oceans. Are you familiar with the areas up the Hudson in NY (Hastings, Tarrytown, Cold Spring, Irvington, Croton on the Hudson, etc.). I love that area. I take the MetroNorth from home up the Hudson just for the view.

I’ll go further in my madness:

I hate the color yellow because of Pittsburgh.

I hate the Iowa Hawkeyes because they have the same color as Pittsburgh.

I hate a local rival high school because they have the same colors as Pittsburgh.

Hell I hate the Pirates because they have the same color and because they represent Pittsburgh.

What does this mean? I’m ridiculous in my dislike of that place and that team.

That is a lot of dislike. I don't dislike the Steelers. The two teams I grew up disliking are the Cowboys and the Patriots. Many Vikings fans hate the Packers but it is because most live amongst Packers fans. I don't have Packers fans around me. Cowboys fans are everywhere here. Ugh.

My older sister went to college in Pittsburgh. Her boyfriend at the time went to Pitt. I have never visited there though I have been to many parts of Pennsylvania.

I'd feel confident on Rams if their RB had not been injured. They still couldn't miss a beat with next man up, but we just don't know.

It will be a huge challenge for Steelers to stop Puka and Kupp, so if Stafford plays well Rams are winning it, regardless of run game.

Another factor is the injury to TJ Watt, his wrist and fingers require surgery but he says he'd only have surgery in the off-season. Not sure if he's fully healthy to play through and how long, but as of now he's coming off Bye week after the injury.

Steelers defense, apart from Watt and Porter, haven't been great this year. They need more pass rush help and can't burden Watt like this.

Rams defense, apart from Donald, is very fresh in experience and total unknown. They've been surprisingly effective though so far.

You can pick Jaguars if Lawrence is healthy. Win or Lose, it will be known in next 4 hours  :goodluck:

I've picked Jaguars and 49ers in my Survivor pools.

I read the Pickett may be injured too. No?

This week was a hard week to pick. Let's see if I advance. There are only six or seven of us left standing.

I voted Eagles. I think the Dolphins are playing better but I don't see the Eagles losing 2 in a row, especially being at home. Go Saints tonight!

It should be a good game. I chose it because it is late on Sunday and hopefully we get more than 10 votes.

I went with the Rams this week in the Survival Pool. This was such a hard week. I don't love the pick but I did not feel confident about any game. If I advance this week, I feel good about to next week.

We will be staring JT, so our run game will go back to running into the pile for a 1 yard gain.   Since JT will surpass Moss as the starter because of contract, we'll probably go 3 and 8.

I think that TE Brock Bowers will get open more often in the NFL than MJH jr.

Hopefully Bowers will have no residual physical issues following his ankle surgery.

    Why did you name him?
