As if Clowney's stock could go any higher lol. Too bad there are no character exercises.
But I'm interested in:
-Yawin Smallwood(I think he's all hype, but lets see)
-Max Bullough
-DeAndre Coleman
-Josh Mauro
-Daquan Jones
-Shayne Skov
-
romo and ryan didnt do either of that and got 100 million
Ryan made it to an AFC Championship and had an MVP-esque season in 2012. And Romo plays for the Cowboys, who have possibly the worst GM-Owner in the league. That contract was a joke. But Romo has also been in the league for like 8 years.
Luck will get around the same amount of money that Kap and Cam get. He's a better QB than both, but he is still somewhat un-proven.
-
Lol at taking Travis Swanson that high. Not even the best center in this draft.
-
With the first 2 picks I would change the players, but keep the positions. I think Bullough will wow people today, and he seems like a "Grigson" player. And instead of Pierre, I would take McGill who won't run fast at the combine so people will sleep on him and probably Baptiste. Also we know Grigson loves versatility, and he can play CB and S. Another Grigson player.
Also don't see us leaving the draft without at least one 3-4 DE. So I'd throw in Deandre Coleman or Josh Mauro somewhere.
-
Yeah McKinnon blew me away with his bench press numbers. I said I liked DAT before because of his versatility, but he only ran a 4.5. I'd take McKinnon as a scat back.
-
What is all this "Luck's Big Contract" talk? He's not getting a $100 million contract. He'll get $70 million at most unless he wins the Superbowl or has a legitimate MVP season.

I read it. Didn't say that Grigson talked to any of those guys. Just said those are people the author is looking at, at each position.

Sadly it looks like the only WR who will be in our range in the 2nd is Allen Robinson. Jarvis Landry might be there though. Looks like we will be going with defense with our 2nd round pick after all.
-
Wow. That Moncrief time really surprises me.
Yeah. I don't think he makes it out of the 3rd round anymore. Could go as high as the 2nd over Allen Robinson.
-
Yeah game film dont lie, He is out of our reach now, Those complaining about speed concerns were whacko, If there is a problem its that he is a little to skinny, needs to put on a couple pounds, Not much but a little and needs to be a little more physical
Yeah I thought the same thing when the 40 time came in. Robinson could drop though. He had a disappointing 4.60. On the other hand, this Jeff Janis guy is 6'3" and ran a 4.34. Might be worth a look in the later rounds.
Also Moncrief put up a 4.40
-
Anyone see Jordan Matthews 40 time?
4.40 un-official
-
All the WR's that have possibilities of being picked up by us are in the 2nd group. Matthews, Robinson, and Moncrief.
-
Yeah Coleman is a huge surprise. Answers some of the questions of if he has the speed to separate. But he can also use his body to separate later. Seems he has adequate speed though.
-
I'm almost certain there is no way we come out of this draft without ANY WR. People are crazy if they think we should just wait until next year. No one wants to use that first round pick on a WR. That pick next year should go to defense or a blue-chip Offensive tackle. I think for this season we are set at WR. But we aren't in the near future. Whalen is overrated, as is Brazil who also has off the field issues. Not to mention we lack size in our receiving corps. I want defense in the 2nd round, but if Matthews or Robinson is there and they pull the trigger, I won't be mad.
Or maybe even Donte Mocrief in the later rounds.
-
Thanks. I wonder if the Pats will look at him just because of the Belichick/Saban connection. If he is there after round 4 maybe they do grab him if they are not sold on Mallett. But at this point I kind of hope they look at QBs with mobility. I think it is now a must in today's game. Just too hard to find pocket Qbs with the cerebral abilities of Brady/Manning.
Word is they might trade Mallet to the Texans, which makes sense. I don't think he was ever supposed to be the Brady successor.
-
Wow, Borland has ridiculously short arms. And glad to see Bullough has dropped weight already. Guy is a hard worker for sure.
-
I don't think anyone here is opposed to getting him if he's there. If you're looking for a guy to replace Reggie, he's the best bet ideally. He runs the best routes out of all the receivers. Route running, good hands, and consistency is what made Reggie so good. Plus Matthews is 6'3', which is great since we need more size on our receiving corps anyways.
-
Dansby or Smith are our best options. Their over 30, yeah, but we should sign one of them short term. They are both good against the run and in coverage. Each had 19 PD'S last season. Spikes is a beast against the run, and Riley struggles against the run. Butler is good, but is too expensive.
Both talented but they'd just be stop gap. I don't want to go into next year and having to pay not only our rookies like Luck, Fleener, and Hilton in addition to all these other stop gap guys like Landry, Toler, RJF,etc...Free is the way to go. Draft. Once we have a young team on both sides of the ball, then we can start bringing in stop gap guys.
It was cool when we lost most of our roster and Grigson brought these guys in so we could have a somewhat competitive team. Now its time to start building though. We can't sign LB's who aren't going to be there in 3 years. We need young guys who can be team leaders for 5+ years.
-
With how many contracts we will have to extend the next off-season, we need a free ILB.In other words,we need to draft one.
-
No surprise Carr isn't throwing. Probably doesn't want people to realize how bad he is.
Carr is not throwing either. I am a grumpy old guy....I would not pick them if they did not throw __ __!

I like Smallwood, but I think he's a bit overrated as well. I'm definitely with you on Bullough, despite the fact he's getting a bit of hate on these forums. Andrew Jackson would be a good substitute for Bullough if he's not available, he's just weaker in the pass game. Jury is still out on Preston Brown. Most these guys would be avaialble later in teh draft, maybe with the exception of Smallwood and Bullough (both of whom I'm seeing conflicting assessments).
Someone suggested Kenny Ladler, and after looking into him, I wouldn't mind using a 5th on him. Don't think he'd be an immediate starter, but could work his way into a starting role. He won't be a game changer, but I think he'd be an above average player.
People want Smallwood because they swear he's so good in coverage. But go watch the Michigan tape and he's a big question mark. Motor, speed,power,etc...is all questionable. You watch Bullough against the same team and he's exactly what you want in an ILB.
But I agree on safety. I'd take a safety later for development, rather than trying to draft a guy high.

I tend to think that Xavier will be a possible late first, early second as far as talent goes. But then again, Warford was available in the 3rd. So you never know. I'm with you though, if he's there in the second, provided we didn't sign a higher profiled G in FA, then I'd pounce on him as well. I think I'd rather address WR or CB in the 2nd, but this class is pretty deep across the board (save for FS and ILB, which, coincidentally are also team needs). So I mean, no matter who you pick in the 2nd, you're going to be passing up on some very good players.
The amount of top tier prospects that will be available to us in the 2nd is going to be ridiculous. I think Miami will pounce on Xaver, and another team will get David Yankey. But Gabe Jackson might also be there.
For WR's, I'm almost certain that Jordan Matthews and Allen would both be there. But I actually like the ILB class. I thought that and CB were the deepest positions in the draft. I just feel as if a lot of the guys being billed as the top LB's are overrated. Not a huge fan of Smallwood and Borland. But I like Bullough, Andrew Jackson, Preston Brown,etc...
I agree with FS though. Unless Bucannon falls to us, we should just wait until next year to get a Safety. I know Pryor will be gone, and I'm not "wowed" over Ed Reynolds. Lets use the 5th for a DE/DT
-
Weird how McShay has Jordan Matthews and Allen Robinson listed and Kiper doesn't. A lot of really good prospects are going to drop to the end of the 2nd round I bet. It's going to be trade city on Day 2.
-
That's just speculation. Probably close to a 0% chance we trade into the first.
Agreed. Was just giving that for a reference point. Dennard would be out of our reach anyways. He won't make it past Cincinnati. Might not even make it past the Lions for that matter.

He already got a ridiculous amount of money but he also has been in the league for awhile. But yes, his organization over-paid because they were afraid to let him walk.
