  1. Nap well spent! I ate a half pound of cheddar cheese as we got nobody the last three hours.
  2. Issac Seumalo. He was the eagles RG last year and has a rapport with Steichen. He also fills a need for us and can start right away. I would be happy with just him if we get him today.
  3. They won 6 more games in the regular season and a playoff game in a season where they hit on 6 FAs. That put them from a losing team to a playoff contender. They can afford that because they have Trevor Lawrence on a cheap deal. Why can't Ballard do that for us? We will soon have a franchise QB on a cheap deal as well.
  4. Chiefs regularly dabble in FA and they have won two recent SBs. Also, you do realize that most of these teams that dabble in FA are bottom-feeder teams right? Without a franchise QB? When a team with a franchise QB dabbles in FA, they usually have success. The problem isn't FA itself, the problem is not spending in FA when you have a franchise QB or a QB on a rookie deal that can help you compete.
  5. Ben Powers got 4 years, $52 million to the Broncos. That's 13 million a year. Seumalo isn't as good as him and would probably be around the $11-12 million range.
  6. Colts were 4th on the waiver priority. Not sure why we didn't claim him? He would have probably made the 53 next season.
  7. I want the Eagles G. He is still out there. I don't know if we can even afford him with the current cap space. If we sign him, I'd probably be happy for today as we'd get a starter-like player today to fill a need.
  8. Broncos too. Powers, Mcglinchley, and Stidham. Fixing that offense.
  9. I literally expect it at this point, but I can't escape it with him as GM. I see other teams sign FAs and gain success, and I get frustrated. It brings out a defeatist attitude for me with this team. Why care? The Jags gained 6 wins with Lawrence with a big FA period last year and won a playoff game. Why doesn't Ballard copy that if we draft a QB? It's really frustrating every year, even if you know it's happening. Also frustrating seeing him not cut Ryan and Foles by now. At this point, his stubbornness is sinking this team, and laziness is starting to pop in as well with the lack of restructuring.
  10. As a fan of both the Broncos and Colts, my personality is so different regarding these two teams. I feel like there is a genuine effort coming from the Broncos to actually compete as they are doing whatever it takes to build a team. At least there is an effort (whether it works or not). Meanwhile, there is no effort from Ballard to change his ways. He has had 7 years (starting this year) of being our GM, and he is refusing to change his philosophies on anything. He says he has to improve, but he changes nothing. Not releasing Ryan and Foles is just dumb. We need that cap room and there is 0 point in keeping them. The Jags have proven if you have a young, franchise QB, you can build through FA and the draft for a QB on a cheap contract. That's what our QB will be on, a cheap deal. Ballard finally gets a QB on a cheap contract. Why isn't he building around him? This is the one time it is most correct of any time to build around a QB. Not only are we not doing that (so far), but we are holding on to our other failures of QBs with albatross contracts. You could originally make an argument Ballard didn't want to build around a veteran QB, now he is not building around a rookie QB. In fact, he doesn't have any interest in opening up cap space at all it seems. People can think I'm negative, but if you see how positive I am when the Broncos sign their guys and it puts me at a high, you'd change your mind. I want to be positive, but I question if Ballard is sabotaging this team at this point. Ballard is in his early 50s and he's acting like someone in his 90s who is a grumpy old man who refuses to adapt. It's embarrassing at this point. I hate to say it as I've worshipped this guy in the beginning two years and been excited for his pressers, but I want him fired. I was hoping he'd change his philosophy and get aggressive in FA, but not only are we not being aggressive in FA, but Ballard is becoming so lazy he's not even opening cap space and restructuring deals. I think Ballard is on his way out and knows it, and his passion is gone, so he's not trying anymore.
  11. They need draft picks. The Broncos only have 5 draft picks, and none in the first two rounds. They have 4 solid receivers possibly, and Tim Patrick is coming back from a torn ACL, so they can afford to trade one.
  12. Ballard is getting comical and embarrassing at this point. At least we used to have cap space available in FA when we didn't sign anyone. Now he isn't even opening up cap space with any restructures or cuts to let us compete to sign FAs. Unless we are drafting Will Anderson, we should be building around our new franchise QB in FA and the draft while his contract is cheap. We aren't even releasing Ryan and Foles. Not even upset about the lack of signings as I'm used to it, I'm upset that we aren't even trying to allow ourselves to sign a decent FA because of a lack of cap space. Ballard has gone from incompetent in FA, too stubborn, to sabotaging the team as he refuses to change his ways.
  13. My question was going to be, why haven't we cut Matt Ryan and Nick Foles yet?
  14. Yep. They traded Hill for draft capital, rebuilt, and signed JuJu and traded for Toney. So they did it the right way.
  15. I realize this. I'm just saying that a $50 million per year contract isn't stopping the Chiefs from being active in FA. While Ballard refuses to spend large money on any FA. That's aggressive Vs Passive. I realize Mahomes is a franchise QB, but we have Luck for two years (3 during 2019 FA), and QBs like Rivers, Wentz, and Ryan that were thought to compete. Ballard was still passive in FA.
  16. Nope, but they got plenty of draft capital for him and rebuilt. They also signed JuJu and traded for Toney to replenish their WR core.
  17. KC is proof you can be active in FA and also compete for SBs. The Mahomes contract doesn't hold them back. They also draft well.
  18. I generally like FA for two things. 1.) To build around a young franchise QB (Trevor Lawrence Jags last year) or 2.) To fill needs We are doing the latter on the Broncos and I love it.
  19. Broncos are my 2nd team and I live in Colorado, so I'm loving this. I want to go to a game this year.
  20. As a Bronco fan living in Colorado as my 2nd team. I'm loving the Broncos right now.
  21. It limits our cap space and our ability to compete for free agents though. So there is a rush to do it. Even if we aren't spending lots of money, you never know what patterns can happen in FA (like a position run) that could make you act earlier than expected. We are at a clear disadvantage to other teams who were restructuring contracts BEFORE FA started.
  22. Agreed. I don't mind not jumping out of the gate to make signings, I do mind not restructuring players and making cuts. Especially Ryan and Foles. There is no excuse for that at this point.
  23. Thanks. I hope Ballard releases him before FA then, otherwise we'll be putting ourselves at a disadvantage with significantly less cap space available. I don't see the point in keeping him until the 17th unless you believe those two days could be the difference between cutting him or him retiring.
  24. I'm hoping to get Issac Seumalo on day 1 of tampering at least. If we don't, he'll be gone. He has the connection with Steichen from the Eagles and he fills a need at RG.
