I feel like the product is losing focus.

Yea, at this point we might as well bring the XFL back. Oh, wait...

Hope McDaniels is sleeping real well tonight.

Probably not. He just made one of the biggest decisions of his life. He turned down a guaranteed head coaching job a day before the press conference. Not many people can claim to have done that in NFL history. With Belichick apparently still coaching another year, McDaniels is just hoping it all works out for him. For his sake now, it better.

And another reason why the Patriots are the least respected organization.

You know what's worse is this comes off the heels of seeing one of our Colts players killed. Now this McDaniels decision has become a huge unnecessary distraction from that event.

We mentioned earlier today that Colts had deals to hire Matt Eberflus (DC), Dave DeGuglielmo (OL coach) and Mike Phair (DL coach). Source says Indy plans to do right by them. They'll have jobs (if they want them), regardless of HC.

That's very respectful of the Colts to do that, and I tip my hat to them for it, unlike a certain sleazebag with a visor.

Problem with that is we literally have a DC already.

Yea, well we should literally already have a HC with the whole "come to terms" language and look where that got us.

Time to lock this one up mods.  He isn't coming here. Gotta move on.

We still have a ton of details to sort out.

    • Did McDaniels put pen to paper? Yes, he "came to terms," but that means jack squat.
    • What does this mean for Belichick?
    • Is Luck confirmed out next season and did Luck's injuries play into the McDaniels decision?
    • Did McDaniels losing the Superbowl play into this?
    • What happens to the staff McDaniels hired?
    • Will the Patriots get punished, and if so, do the Colts get anything?

I recently had someone come to work for a day, then quit because the job they wanted opened up. Cost us a single day's paycheck, and we offered the job to the next candidate who's still here.

This reminds me of someone I know online who's a trading card dealer of Magic the Gathering cards. He was helping a friend who wanted to buy some of the rarest cards in the game for over $10,000, so the guy contacted all his dealers, had discussions for months, and made arrangements. Then at the last moment, the friend bailed out on him.

Regardless, all that energy and money tied up, and for what? Nothing. The worst part in these dealings is no one wins. Tons of wasted time and money tied up that not only affects the individuals, but also their families.

This also hurts the prospects of future assistant coaches who have deep playoff runs. If teams are afraid of this happening, they won't wait around anymore.

Excellent point. McDaniels just hurt the prospects of all future playoff coaches going forward. This sets a dangerous precedent, and I guarantee McDaniels made some enemies with his move.
