I think we resigned Taylor because Steichen wanted him.

I have said it was the owner, the colts have done these signing over. Any coaches and gm’s, the only constant is the owner!

  2. I haven’t been impressed with the colt lb’s for a long time. To me the biggest needs are another big dt, and lb, maybe one that is a little bigger and has pass rushing skills. That’s where I would focus the top 2-3 rounds. As always, if a player you like isn’t there at those positions, trade down and get more picks.

  3. Just because a football team doesn’t spend a lot of money on free agents, doesn’t have anything to do with being a small market team. The patriots are in a huge market and don’t spend big money on free agents, they actually let players walk or trade them instead of having to pay most of them. Most nfl teams don’t do it because it rarely works, Washington and Dallas did it and it didn’t work and now they have changed.

  4. It could be better or worse with Richardson, he had good and bad stretches when he played and is assuming he was healthy the entire season.

manning would have them in the them as one of the top teams, I don’t think that’s a stretch.

luck wouldn’t have them at the manning level, but would be below the top couple teams.

Im sorry my friend.   I agree with almost none of this.

First, I hope we don’t throw 40+ times a game as a routine.   I hope we only do it for an emergency when we’re behind and the running game.   Plenty of teams don’t throw 40+ per game week in or week out.

Second….   I don’t understand your view on JT?    Your attitude appears to be the Colts had leverage and didn’t use it.  You’re mad the Colts didn’t put the screws to JT.   Ballard and Irsay recognize Indianapolis is not a destination franchise for free agents.   If you’re willing to put the screws to JT simply because you can, then you can say goodbye to keeping best guys because they know you’re willing to put the screws to them as well.  So much for having a high quality locker room who help one another.  What you want would blow up the locker-room.   And for what?

There are limitations when you’re a small market franchise.   Trying to make the locker room and keep it a welcoming place to be is not just important — it’s EVERYTHING.    It’s how we keep players, and how the Colts can attract players as well.

Sorry I couldn’t find common ground.

no need to be sorry. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing, that makes things interesting!

I think too much is made about players not wanting to go to small market teams. The nfl is more of a national sport than any other sport there is no local tv deal, just the same for everyone. I worked in manhattan when I was much younger and had no interest in living there. Now live in a md and have no interest of living or going to dc. Many people like small towns and would rather live in a rural area.

Thanks for the good 411 on the Covid money.   As always, you’re a fountain of great information.

If I may, I’d like to ask you about what you think our approach will be with Moss and the RB position.

At the end of the season, what do you imagine we say to Moss?   Thanks for a great year and a half, but we’re going in another direction?   Normally, Ballard might say go out and shop for your best deal,  but please bring it to us to see if we can beat it and keep you.    Do you not think we’d do that?    Hard for me to imagine the Colts are simply letting Moss walk out the door without a second thought.

Honestly, I think the Colts have a strategic advantage in every game they play with the Taylor/Moss duo.   Much less falloff than most teams have with their RB1 and RB2.   I think having the Taylor/Moss combo wears out opposing defenses.  And I don’t know what anyone has seen from Evan Hull to think he’s going to be a good RB2.   And I’d like not to use a precious draft pick to find a quality RB2.

To be clear, I’m sure there’s a number Moss could bring to Ballard and he’d say, congratulations, enjoy your new team.   But I’d like to think the Colts would at least like to TRY and bring him back.   Why let go of a very good weapon for what amounts to a yearly number of just under $7m ??

The plan you alluded to seems to be RB3 level kids trying to fill in at RB2.   I don’t see the advantage?

I may have misunderstood you, so I look forward to hearing from you on a topic of great interest.

you can’t have two top backs when you are throwing the ball 40+ times a game. I haven’t seen anything from the colts offense that says they are going to be a run heavy offense in spite of having a top line and two rb’s.

I would have let Taylor walk, signed moss, and get the draft pick as compensation. Or maybe Taylor doesn’t get the interest he thought he would and would sign a smaller contract with the colts and they have two top backs. I just don’t understand why the colts gave him that contract when they didn’t have to. They had the nfl leading rusher already!

  7. Moss was the leading rusher in the nfl before Taylor was given most of the carries, fact! You don’t get to be the leading rusher without some big runs, mass had them, fact! I think he would have been the leading rusher at the end of the year if Taylor sat out all year.

Isn't a blacksmith quite skilled too?

exactly, just in a different field!

it was a elitist comparison from some that think people in trades aren’t as good as people with college degrees.

Ok ....can you give me some advice regarding overall health? Like diet, sports or do you know some kind of tranquilising tablets😅

I'm 62 and been a colts fan since 10. When I got older, I blow off some steam, then forget about it, and stop watching that sport when the team stops playing. That way I don’t get reminded about the bad season and don’t really care about how other teams are doing.

  10. Unlike most here, I don’t think Pittman is the kind of receiver most here think he is. I wouldn’t give him top receiver money. I don’t think any team is game planning around not letting him beat you, that’s what top receivers do. I would let him walk and sign that type of receiver for a little more or take a shot at two in the draft.

stewart in the top player I want the colts to sign. He may not get as big of a contract as some think because of the suspension, for many risk reasons.

Moss will probably get an Ekeler like 4 year $20-24 million contract when he’s a FA, IMO. JT had less leverage with us, but yet, sometimes I feel we value our own too much. Just watch Pittman get a 4 year $90 mil contract next year, lol :)

    yes, the owner always overpays.

In your opinion how much will the guy Buffalo traded for a kick off returner get paid ? I'll write this page # down and we will revisit it when Moss is signed.

    lol!

I guess you think Brock Purdy will only get last player picked in the draft money according to your thinking.

People scream we need an ER but we seem to get a lot of sacks.  I wonder where we rank league wise.

close to the top in sacks per game and strip sacks. So much for the need for a elite de.

we cant get pressure on third and long because gus goes prevent and only rushes 3, that is when we need pressure and sacks

    or lock down cb’s.

Moss will be a FA next year. Let's see if the league views him the same as you ?

he will get payed by someone.

im sure he won’t be over payed like Taylor was though. Irsay is really good at that!

Ok... here ya go. The post I answered stated inferred that Moss was closed to Taylor as a RB. I said comparng Moss to Taylor is like comparing a brain surgeon to a blacksmith >.That would mean that in my opinion Taylor is much more skilled than Moss. i

ridiculous comparison! Nether could do the others job, they are both skilled, just in a different field.
