coaching.
IMO its a little bit more complex question, however I'm not keen on Caldwell neither.
With better coaching we had more wins, with Manning and a D with average performance Colts had a result list similar to last year.
With Manning, D performing average and better coaching we could stand far better.
Manning's absence shouldn't hit the team so hard, the players aren't so bad, still the team doesn't work. And I don't know the reason of this mess. Perhaps the team feels lost without Manning, and losses in pre-season and at the start of regular season broke the confidence of the players and they've started to believe they can't win w/o PM. And there was nobody to shake them up.
Perhaps they've lost their faith in HC and front office.

Rotating quarterbacks has only really worked once, with the early 50's Rams, but they had two Hall of Famers to rotate.
Still, we should find a way to keep Manning and a future QB (Luck or whoever else he may be).
-
And the beauty is that in 2013, we get Miami's #1 pick, which is likely a top 10 pick as well since I don't expect Luck to do much as a rookie. Another opportunity to bring in perhaps a young passrusher who can play the run as well.
Agreed.
I already think that something like this may help, like pass short and rush the ball. Kind of combining pass and rush game.
Don't You think we may employ Manning and Luck parallel? Luck would be a greenhorn in his first year, but may learn a lot from Manning. By rotating QBs he may get used to atmosphere of NFL and after 2 season he would be ready to perform his best as starter QB.
-
I don't know, what went wrong this year.
This team should be able to win a few games even without Manning. After the manslaughter in NO, I think they have lost their faith in being able to win and there is nobody to shake them up.
Offense seems to be embarrassed, running the ball isn't for Colts. Based on game against the JAX we couldn't convert 3rd situations to first downs, to get to at leas field goal position. Two interceptions against a team like JAX is too much.
The whole team seems to lack power, to stop opponents' drive and piercing through D-lines.

First: does he want to be a head-coach????
Anyway he is a living legend of NFL and he is one of the best QBs, but coaching is an other cup of tea.
Even if he wanted to be a HC, he should go through a maturation process and learn how to coach a team.
In short: not now.
I hope he wont end his career in February and will play some more years.
-
We have nothing to loose. We know Painter's worth, let's try Orlovsky. It couldn't be worse with him, and at least we will know if he is better than Painter.
Yesterday Orlovsky seemed to be more accurate on passing, however it wasn't more productive.
-
A lower points allowed average than points scored average.
They should keep opponents at least under 20.
-
3.-Changes in Coaching, Manning returns and plays for colts for 4-5 years, we draft Luck and build up his QB career as long as Manning is active (starter on pre-season games and not important games), draft new players to reinforce D and O, draft a new special team. We will reach playoffs with Manning at least 2-3 times and reach SB at least once, after Manning we will reach playoffs 8 times in 10 years, winning 2-3 SBs.
I think we still can count on Manning for a few years, but we have to find an offspring.

This whole change thread is a complex thing IMO.
Change is clearly needed in coaching, even for Caldwell's own sake. An 0-16 season with Colts (even without Manning) wouldn't appear attractive in his CV.
But if there is no capable HC right now who is tending to coach the team, we have to change until the off-season. But if there's a coach, suitable for Colts Mr.Irsay shouldn't hesitate.
I'm not keen on the thought of promotion of a Coordinator to HC. Coaching is far more complex job than coordinating, and a HC should go through a maturation progress (acquiring experience) before coaching an NFL team, that is targeting playoff. (I mean Colts will target playoff next season)
So I would demand "change now" carefully, however I am not satisfied with Caldwell's performance neither.
I think, if there would be any change, it would happen in the off-season. And I hope meaningful change will happen.
-
I think this gonna be a key match to Colts.
If we win, we will be able to get up from the floor, and gather some other wins too, till the end of the season.
If we loose...we shouldn't loose.
I think, we will gain a close win.
This whole HC situation is strange to me. I think Caldwell will stay till the end of season, after then we will see.
In Hungary he had been fired after 4th loss. As a Hungarian coach said:"We are working between 2 firing." As far as I can see, in NFL a mid season HC change doesn't usually happen.

There are 53 players dressed in blue with horseshoe on their helmets. With or without Payton Manning, with a 0-7 they are Indianapolis Colts, our team. However this season is over for us, we have to support them during the remaining 9 games, and hopefully they will gain few victories.
Caldwell, coaching, play-schemes, are other cup of tea.
Go colts!
I hope Colts will ride Titans this weekend!
-
In an other post I foreseen Titan's close victory, but I've decided to turn optimistic, and we will win this one somehow.
Pleas support the team in my behalf too, this game wont be broad casted here neither.
-
but if we as fans don't speak up, Caldwell and his staff will be here again next season
I agree, we have to speak up. Only the method is arguable IMO. But You guys are buying tickets for Colts' games and I am just hoping here to see them at least once in this season. As long as they are playing such bad, editors in Hungary won't pick their games.

Well, can't we do BOTH ? ? ?
Sure.
But chanting would be blaming to all Colts Nation.
We want to make our voice to be heard. Okay. Lets compose an open letter or a petition to Irsay, emphasizing, we are worried about our beloved team, are discontented with coaching, have lost our trust in HC, and we would like immediate measures to be taken to improve the situation.
-
Why did we sign a retired QB when we have a highly evaluated Curtis Painter in stock?
Coaching team didn't put its trust in him, or is he highly evaluated, but worth less???
-
But, we have improved in both of those areas this year. And look at our record. Obviously, our run D was non existant the other night, but so was everyting else with the exception of the run game.
We used to run the ball quite well until the line fell apart. Polian did try to fix it ( Ugoh Pollock etc.) but didn't have much luck. With the addition of Castanzo Reitz and co. I think the O line is on it's way up. The D line needs more help and a healthy Nevis.
I believe it to You.
Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I didn't have any chance to see Colts this season. Hopefully D will be improving too, and will be able to stop the run too.
-
"RUNNING THE BALL and STOPPING THE RUN" ...
These are unknown words in Colts' universe.
-
I don't think chanting "Fire Caldwell" next game is a good idea.
We shouldn't ashame anybody that way, and this would be shaming Caldwell, embarrass and disturb the whole team.
The Team obviously playing bad, and I am sure it is pretty clear to Irsay, that change is needed in coaching, and he would take necessary measures. I think only question is when to fire Caldwell, right now or at the end of regular season.
We should rather encourage and support the team against Titans, instead of blaming.
-
I prohibited them to read Fan Forum or any press releases about the team.
Ooops...isn't that Twitter...?
No, my name is not Irsay...
-
The whole team needs a blood-transfer.
Let them walk to gain some money for drafting young and talented players, who will be able to march the team to playoffs in 2-3 years.
-
Our defense let opponents in average 32 points/game, and we scored in average only 16 points/games in average.
Titans are 22-21 in average.
I expect a defeat again, because of our D and pour rush offense. 24-17 for Titans. :scared:
-
1. Colts don't have great traditions in rush games. Manning&Colts is...ööööö...was good at pass games, so in that way D would be prepared against pass games but not against rush games. Would it be enough at Patriots for example?
2. Knowing what to do doesn't mean being able to do it.

Bro @ Waterloo... the French tried................
Point is yours. The French tried to do his best.

These articles are about writers think Caldwell will be removed, nothing official predicts that anything would happen.
New Orleans wasn't Caldwell's Waterloo, it was Indy's iceberg. :scared:

This is my anxiety too.
We need a quality backup QB (this season is showing why) but a talented young titan wont sit on the bench. Rotation wouldn't work according to Blue Horseshoe.
Who would dare to trade Manning for the sake of a young inexperienced QB???
