I think this would be the only reasonable decision. Manning is still able to play at high level and lead colts to playoffs, and there would be a second-string QB, who should be developed for the future.
-
?????????????????????, Translation please.
We all wish a new HC.
In different topics fans recommended several names as new HC. (listed above)
I was just trying to express my worries about FO can make bad choice.
-
It's gonna be a hard game for us.
The team should shape up, also the coaching staff. Time management will be crucial. IMO best defense would be keep Brady off the field, so the OL shall make as "long" drives as it is possible.
It is easy to be smart in front of monitor. I hope the team finds out sg. useful for that game.

Anyhow I feel sorry for Caldwell. He maybe not a bad coach, but he couldn't treat absence of Manning.
We should be careful with wishing. Who should be our next HC? There are several names:
Jeff Fisher?
Andy Reed?
Tony Dungy, returning from his rocking chair?
Someone else? A coach from NCAA?
IMO there are only few trainer capable to coach a team with a caliber like Colts.

I expect some changes at Colts, but don't think it would be sweeping.
New HC will be named, who builds up his own staff. Polians will stay.
I would be surprised if there wouldn't be any changes.
There are several questions about next season:
Who is gonna be the next HC?
Will Manning be able to play?
How can we use no.1 pick in draft?
Will D and ST be improved?
Will we draft quality backups for key positions?
And several others...

In the first eleven games we have scored a total of 13 points in the first quarter of football....
But we have made half time adjustments, because we have scored a total of 16 points in the third quarter.
TOTAL....11 GAMES ! ! !.
Is there ANY QUESTION about the coaching staff of this team?
13 points in 11 first quarters to start the games, preparation????
16 points in 11 third quarters to start the second half, adjustments????
There are no questions.
I wonder how many plays lasts an average Colts' drive, and how long are our opponents drives. I feel we are too early stopped to score FG (not to mention TD).

Man....these threads...
I'm waiting for topics like "Caldwell could win, but the team doesn't wants" or "CIA wants Colts 0-16"
Face it, this year this team is such bad, and it has a real chance that the team will stand with 0-16 at the end of the year.
I only hope, we will gain 1 or 2 wins anyhow, and team will be better next season.
-
Whats worse than 0-11 (0-16)...
...nothing would change after this season, for instance?
-
I doubt there is any QB playing right now in that is worse then Painter...
This team around the QB won an SB and had SB appearance. If they were totally lousy not even Manning could lead them so far.
Painter is clearly not the next Manning, but players in O-line are good enough to make few TDs in a game.
-
Maybe stones will be thrown at me...but I think Manning doesn't mean such a big difference.
Manning is a great player, with incredible abilities making him one of the bes QBs ever. Clearly the team have been built around him, to provide a maximum utilization of his talent. When he was out at the start of the season everyone knew we can say by-by to playoffs.
But IMO Manning's absence shouldn't lead 0-10. No useful backup QB, weakening D and a terribly performing O formation also contributes to this disastrous season. (I just won't blame J.C. here, on one hand everyone knows his shortcomings already on other hand he got enough so far).
If D and O performed just like last year (at least better than this year) and we had a better backup QB in stock this season wouldn't look like so...that...
I hope Manning will stay at colts and FO will find a way to employ his descendant, who would be able step up if it is needed.
-
Well, I don't like threads starting with "If"
Obviously we would be better with Manning, and perhaps we had a chance at least for wild card match, but I wouldn't dare to say that we had 8, 7 or 10 wins.
-
I'm speechless.....Whether this is denial or acute blindness? (maybe sarcasim?)
That's optimism,
I'm not that optimistic.

Hungarian Colts fan has obviously never seen Matt Flynn play. I believe he put up 28 on the Pats last year on the road. Also lets keep in mind he is playing behind the 2nd best QB in the NFl in Rodgers. We all know Peyton would be better if he was healthy.
You are right, I've never seen him. Besides 27 points he made an unlucky INT, that have been returned to TD. He had great games, but is he ready to make a whole season?
Besides, is he available? I mean he would like a starter position better.
-
Ill pass.. Trade for Matt Fynn
Why him?
The ever backup...would he be able to make a season if Manning falls out again?
-
Donovan McNabb is a good QB with impressive stats.
But, I would rather see a younger but experienced, yet proven QB as long as Manning is out of game.
Fact, McNabb could stay as second-string QB when Manning returns, while a younger talent would like to show up sg. instead of benching.
-
Ithink we have no chance to win this season w/0:
- cleaning out heads
- working out play schemes better fitting Manning-less team
Bye-week could be a good chance to take these minimum steps. Without better 3rd down conversion we wont score more than 3 points. (besides other problems)
- cleaning out heads
-
I wonder what is going thru Peyton's head after seeing the disaster that his before him.
"It must be a nightmare, someone please wake me up!!!!!
-
I just wonder if part of being a fan..is to have someone to hate..whoever for whatever
It shouldn't be.
I don't hate anybody. But I've never thought Caldwell enough for this team. He has to learn about coaching yet.
-
You have totally right!
Peyton Manning deserved at least a statue in Indianapolis.
I would like to see him though next season as starter QB too.
But he is not unbreakable, so he needs a good backup. And I'm not shooting at him.
-
NE (Boston) media says the same thing about Belichek 'the genius' that we do about Poilian
arrogant..lucky know-it-al....insufferable
And efficient...?
-
The Bears were 5-11 with Lovie....and 7-9 twice..
We would be happy with 5-11 at the end of this season.
-
In Chicago, they'd fire Lovie Smith today if it was up to fans and media..
Was Chicago ever 0-10 with Lovie Smith???
Sexy Rexy has been so terrible, that he had to go.
I wasn't keen on Caldwell two years ago and I'm neither keen on him today.
I was surprised about Dungy's retirement, however he announced it well in advance.
-
Or it shows true problem, and many people outside Colts HQ are capable of seeing it for themselves.
It is part of the true problem. If You read my posts, You'll see, I'm not a Caldwell fan, and I think he should go and learn coaching elsewhere. I don't mean he is a lousy expert, but he doesn't know other part of coaching (e.g. being teacher, psychiatrist, parent, best friend, no1 critics of the players).
Perhaps other reasons (like loosing faith, no plan B if PM is out) can be conducted to coaching.

the LUV man just ended this discussion...
Every topic gets to the conclusion: "Fire Caldwell and Polians", we shouldn't be so narrow minded.
Polian- Colts Can Afford Both Manning & Rookie Qb As First Round Draft Pick

I hope he won't, for a while.
