Absolutely all called correctly though, that's just dumb on our part.
You can call a hold on every single play in the NFL. The refs usually let the tick-tack fouls go.
These refs are not calling the game that way.

We’re about to find out if we really do have a top-ranked defense.

Didnt the 49ers win four games, last year? And they made it to the Super Bowl this year and led for the majority of the game...and they only added a couple of players...a QB, WR and D-lineman...sounds very similar to our needs (and they play very similar on O to our style of play)
Yup, but it was the Chiefs that WON the Superbowl, who went 12-4 in 2018-19. But your point is valid.

Not enough difference makers on the team.
Offense: Great O-line and T.Y. - That's it.
We basically lose every time T.Y. is out of the lineup, which is becoming more of a common occurrence. We have no other special players on offense.
Defense: D. Leonard.
Everyone else is just average or slightly above at best. No difference makers.
The Colts were 7-9 -- a below average team without Luck. They have a long ways to go.

Wes Welker was part of both the 2007 and 2011 Patriots SB losses. Then, he goes to Broncos and is part of their 2013 SB loss to the Seahawks. Both teams won SBs once they part ways with him.
Then he goes to the 49ers as WR coach and is now a part of their 2019 SB loss.
Jinx, maybe???
Hmmm... I'm two ways about this.
Another way of looking at it is Wes Welker is the key to getting into the Superbowl.
I think I'd rather have the jinx of consistently making it to the Superbowl, although losing, than the jinx of consistently not being in it.

Not all 7-9 teams are created equal.
The question every NFL GM of a mediocre team should ask about their roster: If I had Kirk Cousins at QB, could we make the playoffs? If the answer is yes....then your roster is ready to win.
Do the Colts have position groups needing an upgrade?....Obviously. Have to find a 3T and starting WR. Might need a LT, but we’ll see about that.
Put Kirk Cousins in at QB and the Colts were a playoff team...and might have been with a league average kicker and JB at QB...
So....it’s time to go win now...and we have 7 months to sort it out.
For my money...I’ve come around to the 1st Rd Jordan Love camp, not wait until late 1st, after thinking initially that Ballard won’t go for it. The more I watch, the more I see a QB that is decisive and accurate in the quick game with the arm, feet and mind to grab chunk plays when available. No way he makes it past the Bucs at 14, and we might have to trade up to 10 or 11 to prevent the Bucs from the same.
Giving up our 3rd or 4th Rd pick to move up for Love, we grab 3T Blacklock @ 34 and BPA WR @ 44
JB starts the year and gets us to 6-4 as the rhythm fades away. Love finishes the year and we go 10-6 for a wildcard spot.
I was under the impression that at this time last year, after winning two playoff games, we were ready to compete and go all out. And then Ballard did Ballard things during FA.
Don't get me wrong, I like his approach in building through the draft, but it's also frustrating because we have to be so patient -- which in some way looks like throwing years away, waiting for the team to develop, and hoping that the rookies actually develop to be good players. That's always a hit-and-miss.
And then Luck left and here we are...

I get so sick of hearing of people in power, with $$$ involved in various cover ups, of all sorts, protecting the guilty.
Whatever happened to human decency, and knowing the difference between right and wrong and being held accountable?
It was defaming religion...which we can't discuss here.
ahhhh...I see. Thanks for the update.

While he didn't do as much dumb stuff, he still displayed allot of attitude. Whether it's the twerking celebration or the straddling of the goal post. Neither is a big deal to me, but it shows he wasn't just a well behaved normal player. This is bigger now because his feelings are hurt because he is not playing.
No doubt he was conceited and annoying before, but within reason -- similar to Deion Sanders.
But AB's behavior is completely over the top now.
It's only speculation, but the few brain cells he had rattling around in his head early in his career have been further diminished by the hit he took from Burfict and other hits sustained during his career in football.

A. Brown was a good team mate and a great player in his early years....and then this hit from Burfict changed his life for the worse. After this hit, he slowly started changing. He's now completely out of his mind.

yeah 1 year lol nothing in comparison to being terrible for nearly 10 years
Niners were 11-5 in 2012. They were in the SuperBowl in 2013, and their record in 2014 was 8-8. They were not nearly as bad over the last 10 years as you may think.

Our down years we still pick normally 15th or back lol
Didn't we recently have the #3 pick, traded back to #6 and select Nelson?

It's entirely possible that if our DLine (Turay) stayed healthy, we might have won an extra game here or there
1. I usually find that it's better if I don't form an argument with "what ifs". For example, if Mahomes and the Chiefs offense were healthy against the Colts, it's possible we lose that game. Or if Watt stayed healthy, it's possible that the Texans win more games. Or if Tannehill started at the beginning of the season for the Titans, it's possible that they win more games.
2. Turay was often injured in college. He was injured his first year as a pro. He was injured this year. Safe bet not to rely on a guy who's body clearly is not cut out for this sport.

Why was the cop in the locker room? Was he asked to for any reason or did he just decide to play vigilante/hall monitor? Just curious.
OBJ obviously wants out of the Browns, it seems like.
I heard a story that reporters asked for the players to put out their cigars because they could not deal with the smoke in the locker room. The players refused, obviously because they were celebrating. A reporter may have called the cops.

Personally, I think as a GM, it would be easier to inherit a terrible roster than a good one. It's much easier to go from "bad to good" than from "good to great."
We have seen Ballard go from bad to good with his roster building over the past few years. Now let's see if he can take the roster from good to great.

I'm saying that back in the day, guys were hard as nails and played through multiple injuries and wouldn't quit so easily. Those guys played for the team, unlike kids today who play for themselves.
Overall, today's kids have it so much easier than kids in the 40's who were shipped off to war, and then came back and resumed their lives; getting married, having kids, raising a family, starting a new career, etc.. so I agree with you there.
But there is so much new information out there about the dangers of CTE and its affect on the brain. With new information comes new decisions to be made.
I think this will be the norm moving forward, and not due to softness, but due to making informed decisions. Further, with the amount of money NFL players are making these days, it makes financial sense to play for a few years and then pursue other passions while you still have your health. The players in the old days were not afforded this opportunity.

1. Awesome video!
2. Freeney was a beast, but Mathis was a complete game wrecker!
3. Anyone notice the lack of big run plays?
4. Luck's deep ball accuracy was so much better than I actually remembered it to be, and I thought it was good to begin with.
5. Garcon was the star of the early part of the video. When he made plays, they were big plays.

That said, I observed how many threads and articles there are/have been about Ballard. He gets so much more attention than any other GMs, it seems like. Whereas other organizations’ fan bases seem to focus on the coaching, more than anything.
I get that GM fascination here, to an extent, but watching this Titans team win these last 2 games has made me wonder: do the Titans have more talent on their roster than the Colts this year?
Or were the Titans better coached on both sides of the ball than the Colts this year?
Just curious to hear everyone’s thoughts. Reich was dealt the ultimate bad hand prior to the season, but the team made it to 5-2 before things just went completely off the rails.Reich’s handling of the QB situation for the Miami game (Hoyer getting almost no practice reps the entire week), his decision to stick with Vinny (everyone ties this issue exclusively to Ballard; it had to be a mutual decision) until injuries forced Vinny aside, and the complete inability for his team/staff to finish games are all concerning to me.
The Colts got torched in 3rd quarters this season. That was a somewhat alarming trend.
Not panicking. Not overreacting. But Reich and the staff have to be better. Tennessee has proven the fact that the Colts could’ve been much, much better this season.
Credit to Vrabel and his staff.
Honest question: what would the Titans season look like with Mariota at QB the entire season, and what would be people’s perception of Vrabel in that instance?
My guess is that the Titans wouldn’t have made the post season with Mariota at Qb and Vrabel would be feeling a little heat after missing the playoffs two years in a row.
The Colts did not have a Tannehill to bail them out. I think we have good coaching, good talent, but worse QB play currently. Reich is fine.

Andrew Luck was one of the least blitzed QBs because he would make opposing defenses pay. He would identify the blitz, call the correct protection, and find the open receiver.
Unfortunately, the blueprint against JB is that other teams understand he is not willing to stretch the defense. The opposing defenses stack the box, focus on stopping the run, and send blitzes. This puts a lot of pressure on the OL, thus the perception that they've regressed.
In reality, it's the QB position that has regressed, causing a regression at WR, run game, and at the OL.

Deebo went very early in the 2nd rd.
Also AJ Brown and Mecole Hardman were drafted before Campbell.
I still believe the main reason Metcalf slid was due to his injuries at Ole Miss including season ending neck surgery.
I'd have preferred that Ballard draft AJ Brown at pick #49 (Ben Banagu) and then draft Banagu at pick #59.

it's the instant gratification times we live in.
The players have to contribute immediately or they're a bust mentality.
Nelson and Leonard being All Pros their first year set really unrealistic expectations for the future drafts.
I agree with some of the "Instant Gratification" times we live in comment. However, I think rookies who do not contribute immediately are compared to their counterparts on other teams who are also rookies -- not Nelson and Leonard.
For example, Ballard drafted P. Campbell, who due to injuries was unable to showcase his abilities. Of course, we have to be patient, but watching other rookie receivers excelling within their teams is a bit frustrating, especially for a Colts team with such a lack at the WR position.
After draft misses (Dorsett and Moncrief) and so many failed attempts to add FA WRs like Avery, A. Johnson, D. Heyward-Bey, H. Nicks, K. Aiken, R. Grant, and Funchess, we really needed to see some hope at the WR position. T.Y. has been the only solid contributor and his time is winding down.
I do think, however, that given time, P. Campbell will be seen as a good draft pick, but I'm sure you can recognize the frustration.

The are playing football, the same as every other team in the league. This is how professional in NFL is played. They are not doing anything egregious to get 9 holding calls in a row.
It’s up to the refs to call it fairly.
