    That play was "stunning ."

And on the other end was our defense that allowed 29 of 30 passes to be completed.

Imagine being at the Saints practice facility where they are just running their plays with no defense involved. Completing 29 of 30 passes against the air is still somewhat of a challenge. You could have an errant pass, or a lack of concentration from the receivers and have a drop.

Yet, against our defense, they Saints were nearly perfect.

Hopefully the reporting that Reich is committed to Brissett going forward is not written in stone. They said something to the effect that "this is Jacoby's team and they will not bring someone in to take his place. Can Rich be so blind that he can't see he's talking about a nice backup QB ? I will be sick to my stomach if we don't draft a QB in the first 2 rounds this coming April.

Well, they were committed to Old Man Vinny until his leg fell off, despite being statistically the worst kicker in the league.

I'm pretty sure JB will be the starting QB for all of 2020 at which point Reich's coaching seat will be real hot. And then when his neck is on the line, he'll consider a change.

The biggest problem with tonights game was Brissett missing wide open receivers on each of the first three drives. The defense had absolutely zero intensity tonight. Brissett had what, 165 yards tonight, I honestly don't know how you justify keeping him out there the final 2 games. The Panthers already announced they are starting Grier on Sunday, let's put our 3rd stringer out there and see what happens.

I hope they play Kelly, but it’s not going to happen.

They stuck with Old Man Vinny until his knee bust, even though he was statistically the worst kicker this year.

I see stubbornness and a keep your head down and grind attitude with Ballard and Reich. Sometimes that’s good. Sometimes that’s JB.

  4. Andrew Luck had to have watched this game, right? Monday night.... prime time.

He has to feel bad for this team.

He has to feel bad for T.Y.

He has to feel bad for Brisett, who’s clearly not a starting QB, and now he’s been completely exposed because he’s been forced to start.

He’s got to feel bad for Reich, who’s been severely handicapped as a play caller with JB at QB.

Continue dominating?  They aren't even dominating now, let alone continue dominating into the future.

Current State: They're 10-3. They're a playoff team once again.

Past State: "The New England Patriots hold the longest active consecutive playoff streak with 10 appearances, starting with the 2009–10 NFL playoffs, which is the longest of all-time. The Patriots have won three Super Bowls during this streak."

Future: Remains to be seen. I hope they fall off of a cliff.

Judging by the last pic I saw of him, I want someone to explain how he hasn't lost any muscle mass. Is he still working out? That would tell you he's done or not.

Last time he was seen was at the Colts facility during the bye week. He was JACKED! Looked bigger, like a baby Hulk.

Oh when I think of the whole situation, I blame all of them to be honest. But none of that changes a thing. He quit. However noble and justified the reasons, he quit. You can try and sugarcoat it anyway you wish. Call it a retirement call it a medical retirement, it’s still quitting

I think he understands that it's better to walk away from the game than to limp away.

What about drafting a QB? Doesn't that tell JB he isn't the guy, and is just keeping the seat warm for when the new guy is ready?

If Kelly starts JB will get over it, and the team will embrace the staff for doing everything possible for this season and the future of the team.

    Good question.

I think you draft a QB in the early rounds (round 1 or 2) if you truly believe in that QB, in which case, it's a calculated decision to cause some unrest with the team initially, with the hopes that the new QB is the answer at the position.

However, if you draft a QB in the later rounds, I'm sure that the team and JB will understand that it's for the purpose of developing a QB and not for immediately supplanting the #1 QB. JB is safe and the team understands who their #1 QB is.

I don't disagree, but it is the wrong choice.  Do we not preach competition?  Why should Jacoby be seen as the unquestioned QB going into next year?  He hasn't earned that right.

Our coaches and gm will be extremely short sighted if they don't play Chad, but they probably won't because it will hurt JBs feelings.  I hate the Patriots but I am in awe of BB.  He would do it without a second thought.

Fair or not, hypocritical or not, QBs are always treated differently.

If Chad Kelly does play this year, 3 things can happen.

    1. Chad Kelly plays so amazingly well that there is NO question that he is the starting QB the following year. (How likely is this to happen? 10% chance? 20%?)

    2. Chad Kelly plays fairly well. The Colts have a QB controversy. JB and Chad Kelly fight for the #1 QB position during the preseason, but in all likelihood, neither would be the answer at the QB position if Chad Kelley isn't clearly better than JB.

    3. Chad Kelly plays poorly, showing why he was #3 on the depth chart. The coaches must now revert back to JB, after they have shown that they are willing to replace him. The other players now know that they don't have a true #1 leader at the QB position and question the coaches decision.

Unless the coaches completely believe in Chad Kelly, it's my opinion, that he will not play.

  10. I think the coaches see Jacoby as the #1 QB for next year. They see Chad Kelly as the #3 QB.

If Jacoby is the #1 for next year, then they will keep playing him and provide him with more live game experience.

If they played Chad Kelly at all this year, they would be feeding into the frenzy and undermine JB's position as the unquestioned #1 QB. I don't think we see Chad Kelly play until next preseason.

Not sure I follow your logic, Flash7. From what I am aware of, 88 is the only Colt player from that era who's in the HOF.

Granted, Manning's on his way, but he's the only other sure-fire HOFer. I think several others deserve it and hope they make it, but don't think they are locks.

I am of the impression (and I could be wrong) that Harrison, Wayne, Edge, and possibly Saturday also make it into the HOF.

Even if they don't, the fact that Harrison, Wayne, and Edge are HOF candidates speaks volumes, doesn't it?

  12. Had such high hopes for P. Campbell this year.

WR group is still a major issue. We need to keep drafting receivers before T.Y. is done, otherwise we'll have absolutely no receives to rely on. We'll still have receivers, just not any real good ones.

This goes back to how much that Turay injury killed us. The zone will get picked apart if you can’t get pressure with the front four.

My personal assessment (I could be wrong):

I would not put my hopes on Turay. He missed a ton of time in college due to injuries, and now a ton of time in the NFL. I'm not certain he has the body or ability to avoid injuries.

Exactly.  A lot of people sing Ballard's praises and talk about how talented the team is due to his drafting, but I don't see it.

I listed it last night.  There are 2 game changers on the team that he drafted in 3 years.  Nelson and Leonard.    Other than that?  There are a few good players but nothing outstanding.  And after that?  Scrubs.

So I really fail to see how this guy is a draft guru who has no need or want for Free Agency.

    OVERHYPED.

Tons of money available.  And what happens?  Nothing.

Overall, I'm not an Anti-Ballard guy at all. I'm also not a pro-Ballard guy either. I think I prefer to stay in the neutral corner and observe.

If I had to give an assessment, I think I would say that he has greatly lifted the floor of the team. I do not see any "Daniel Adongo's" on the team. The depth of the team is much improved.

But, like you'e said, not many real difference makers either. The ceiling isn't too high, so you have an average team.

I do believe that most GM's coming into the situation that Ballard walked into (Grigson left behind a team completely devoid of talent, but with a good cap situation), would have improved the team if they had a good draft philosophy, which Ballard does have.

Taking a talent deprived team to an average team isn't the most difficult thing, and Ballard has done a good job of this. Taking an average team to becoming a good or great team takes a ton of skill. We have to give Ballard time on this. We'll see if he has the ability soon enough.
