And to claim that those issues that I previously mentioned weren't factors is nonsense. A Colts team with Andrew Luck playing has never finished below .500.  I think you have forgotten just who Andrew Luck is!

Did you forget that the players that surrounded him on offense, and defense was significantly better than what we have on our current roster?

Luck will get slaughtered next season, unless something extraordinary happens. And our defense is still mediocre at best and won't help win any games.

  2. To claim that everything is down to playcalling and coaching is nonsense. To suggest that you only need a good QB, and you can rack up 8 wins, despite 90% of the squad being below average NFL-level is ridiculous.

    Unfortunately, that is the case.

Luck might be better than Brissett, but he isn't going to magically turn things around for a team that ranked at the bottom of both offensive and defensive stats last season, and lost more than they've gained in FA.

We're not the only team that get's a chance to improve through the draft and in order to improve by 4 wins, every pick has to be a homerun with the bases loaded.

Going to touch on a few points made in thread.

    1. Guys are talking about "HAD" salary cap space. It doesn't go away, it rolls over. We will most likely have the most space next year. As we were set to have around $65m w/o knowing what cap# will be in 2019. If we roll over $40m we will have over $100m to spend. I dont know if that is by design by Ballard, but I believe so.

    2. Everyone knew coming into this offseason, this FA class was great. Second best guy on market before Suh was released was Allen Robinson, and he is coming off an ACL injury. Bottom line I am glad CB didn't break the bank for these guys. Did/do we need some guys, yes. But that doeant mean we should over pay them.

    3. If Luck is healthy we will not be a bottom feeder, we will probably at least be an 8-8 team. If he isn't well, what would be the point in bringing in FA's in the first place. We won't be competing.

Long way to go, till Sept. We will add guys that will help the team next year.

    Patience.

There's no way, this team is 8-8.

This is an O-line that allowed 56 sacks last year, and haven't been improved.

    30th in yards allowed

    30h in points allowed

    30th in points scored

    31st in yards gained

    Lost our best RB

Lost our best player in secondary

    Lost Mingo

    Lost Moncrief

We only have 2nd year players for CB

Have one WR, that's NFL starter level

Suggesting that this should somehow transform into a team that wins 4 more games than last season.. Mindblowing levels of optimism

Before you get too scared I have good news for you. The off season  isn't only 3 days long. That's right put those scary pants away time for the big boy britches the off season just started. Surprise Surprise Surprise  Ballard will sign OL.  I'm afraid it's not all good news making you happy isn't at the top of Ballard's to do list. It gets worse word is irs not even on his list.  That doesn't mean we don't draft Barkley

You do get that there isn't really any quality guards left right? Unless there's a surprise cut, they've all been signed.

Pouncey was a surprise cut, but is visiting Chargers. I'll be surprised if CB would be willing to pay what he needs to, in order to get him.

So this "Ballard will sign OL", is nonsense. The reality is that there are no quality options left to sign. It's not just a question of signing someone, but signing someone who's actually a solid above average NFL guard.

Drafting a RB when you have an O-line that gave up 56 sacks last season... Yeah, I'ld just rather have a guard who could be all-pro for the next 10-12 years straight.

  5. Norwell - Gone

    Pugh - Gone

    Fulton - Gone

    Jensen - Gone

    Boone - Gone

    Fusco - Gone

    Kelemete - Gone

    Kline - Gone

    Sitton - Gone

It's hard to see how we're going to upgrade the O-line at this point.

Pouncey is visiting the Chargers BTW.

Isn't free agency only a couple days in? Why don't we relax and see how it plays out

You get that there's not much quality left, right?

Who's left that could provide an upgrade to our O-line?

    Any WR's worth anything left?

    What about linebackers?

CB's (most have called the wrong Gaines)

Anyone else out there, not called Suh?

Autry is an okay signing, but let's be real here for a moment. He's at best an average NFL player.

  7. I'm sick of hearing the term "Overpaying".

There's no such thing. If the price for a top-tier guard is +12 million a year, then that's what you need to pay to get them. It's as basic supply and demand as it could possibly be.

If you want the premier FA's you have to pay the going rate, or they'll sign with another team that will pay the going rate. Paying the going rate is not overpaying

The notion that you can improve your teams position by only signing "leftovers", and letting the premier FA's join your competition, is a pipedream. Same thing goes for the notion that you can build solely through the draft and then magically coach every draft-pick into an above average NFL starter. Any team needs to do smart moves in both FA and draft, even occasionally making a big splash in FA or making big deals to move up in the draft.

There's still linebackers Preston Brown, Zach Brown, Demario Davis and Todd Davis.

    CB - E.J. Gaines, T.J. Carrie

    DL- DaQuan Jones

Matt Slauson could probably be useful as an experienced G/C, if he's recovered.

All those linebackers could be useful, Gaines/Carrie would be good additions to our current roster,as would DaQuan Jones.

Suh is a pass for me.

Had hoped for at least one major signing (Norwell), and yeah.. Slightly disappointed that we haven't been more active. Yes, I know that not everything is out in the open, but nothing has been mentioned anywhere with regards to the Colts being in the running for any of the players that could really make a difference.

    - And now Demario Davis has struck a deal with the Saints

  10. I think there could be several trading partners.

I could see a scenario where we trade back to number 4 and then even further back from number 4 with Jets/Denver, racking up a ton of early second round picks and still having an early first round pick.

Maybe the Bills are lining up a move for a QB, and would be ready to trade their two first round picks. While I'm not a fan of moving that far down, It would be something that Ballard would have to consider.

  11. Seems like nonsense to me, that he "leaves things to his agent". Of course he knows whats going on.

I liked him, but would bet on him as a cornerstone of our O-line. His knee concerns me.
