But that's the thing you don't know what you are getting so if we are trading for a 2019 1st round pick we will assume its a late first round value over top 10 value, because if you did give 2 2nd rounders and its a 22nd round pick you lose a lot of value. I agree with BProland I would give like pick 36 or pick 37 (preferably 37) for a 2019 first rounder but I'm not giving them anything else
There are no guarantees in life. But there are probabilities. We can work with those and make decisions based around them. So would you make the same trade with the Eagles or the Patriots as you would with the Buccaneers or Jets?
It would seem quite unlikely that a trade with the Eagles would land you a top 10 pick. A lot less so with Bucs/Jets.

Not my favorite draft. I wouldn't be thrilled with this outcome. Can't see us picking three WR's, no RB and no help at guard or pass rush.
Colts picks. A few trades involved.
Round 1 (11) Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia
Round 1 (31) Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU
Round 2 (37) Donte Jackson, CB, LSU
Round 2 (42) Justin Reid, S, Stanford
Round 2 (49) Brian O'Neill, OT, Pittsburgh
Round 3 (67) James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State
Round 5 (140) Marcell Ateman, WR, Oklahoma State
Round 6 (178) Mike White, QB, Western Kentucky
Round 7 (221) Montrel Meander, CB, Grambling State -

I could see giving up one of our early 2nds for a 2019 1st, but not giving up two 2nds for a 2019 1st. That wouldn’t be a good value from the Colts perspective.
Depends on where that 1st round pick lands. Getting, for example, pick 29 next year for our two early second rounders this year would not be great value. But a top 10 pick might.

I'll be very disappointed if we pick a CB in the first round. It would give me flashbacks to when Grigson picked Dorsett when Landon Collins had just dropped right in our laps.

Colts trade with Dolphins, hoping to grab Roquan Smith/Tremaine Edmunds @ 11, only to see both picked before 11
-
#1 - Browns - Sam Darnold
#2 - Giants - Bradley Chubb
#3 - Jets - Josh Allen
#4 - Browns - Saquon Barkley
#5 - Broncos - Denzel Ward
#6 - Dolphins - Baker Mayfield
#7 - Bucs - Derwin James
#8 - Bears - Quenton Nelson
#9 - 49ers - Tremaine Edmunds
#10 - Raiders - Roquan Smith
-
Honestly, I think that would be complete madness.
Roquan is an exciting prospect, but it's just way to expensive when it's likely that we could grab either Vander Esch or Rashaan Evans in the second round.
-
Elway's shaking the tree. Not surprising.
Probably not looking for a QB, or if they are, they're looking at Lamar Jackson and wouldn't mind getting extra picks while landing the player they wanted all along.
Lots of smoke and mirrors at this point. I have no doubt that there will be some big trades before the first 10 picks have been announced.

Mathis/Freeney was fun. Man we had a good team back then.

The Giants said they won’t be drafting a QB at 2nd, which puts them in the running for Barkley/Chubb/Nelson.
Of course they could be blowing smoke.
I think they'll take Chubb.

First 5: Allen, Barkley, Darnold, Chubb, Nelson:
Rosen, Mayfield, Jackson still on the board, Buffalo gives a huge haul to get their franchise QB
Colts get: 12, 22, 65, 96, 2019 1st rounder, Bills get: 6, 2019 3rd rounder
12: Derwin James S FSU
22: Jaire Alexander CB Louisville
36: Rashaan Evans OLB Alabama
37: Will Hernandez G UTEP
49: Sony Michel RB Georgia
65: Dante Pettis WR Washington
67: Malik Jefferson ILB Texas
96: Kemoko Turay DE Rutgers
104: Josh Sweat DE FSU
140: Tegray Scales ILB Indiana
178: Will Richardson OT NC State
221: Antonio Callaway WR Florida
Secondary is fixed for years with Hooker, James, Alexander, Quincy and Hairston
LB core gets an overhaul adding Evans and Jefferson, with a sleeper in Scales.
Hernandez is a plug and play, with Richardson being a great pickup, and someone who could start early.
Michel gives us a 1-2 punch with Mack, and Pettis adds a return threat and a WR2
Turay and Sweat are two severely underrated pass rushers, and provide an instant boost to our 4-3
Callaway will be the steal of the draft if his off the field gets fixed
All hypothetical, wanted to shy away from Chubb/Nelson/Smith/Edmunds
Thoughts appreciated
No way any sane person would offer that to move up 6 places.
Rashaan Evans will be long gone by 36 as will Hernandez at 37. None of them will drop out of the 1st round.
Derwin James is highly unlikely to make it out of the top 10.
Jaire Alexander is also unlikely to make it out of top 20. I wouldn't be thrilled if we spent a 22 pick on a CB anyway.
Would like it we could get Scales at 140. Jefferson wouldn't be bad at 67.
I wouldn't wait until 178 to get a tackle.
-
For me, in your scenario - I don't pick any of them, but get Nelson.
If Ballard insists on not taking Nelson, I would want him to call the Bills and take their two first rounders.
I would be quite happy to grab Rashaan Evans as our new ILB and McGlinchey for RT in the first round.

He is great yeah but, Chubb will help this def more for the team and CB has already stated that there is enough talent in the second round to fix the O-line.
Woild u seriously pass on chubb in Nelson and Chubb are there?
Yes. Without any hesitation. Wouldn't blink

He didn't post numbers in enough tests to get a RAS score because of a hamstring injury from what I can gather. He posted average bench press, average vertical jump and above average broad jump. He probably would have cleared the 5.0 RAS mark if he was able to test, but I doubt he would have gone in the the 8-9 range.
https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/mike-mcglinchey
I would be surprised if McGlinchey goes top 10. The Browns have a need at OT after Joe Thomas retired, but I doubt they take him no. 4?!
I wouldn't rule out that the Browns trade out of 4.
Surely it's on the table for the right amount of picks. Just like Broncos and us.
-
With so many quality RB's to be had in both 2nd. and 3rd round, I would quite unhappy with a trade like that.
Only trade I would be willing to do, out of 6, is for a massive haul of picks.
And it would most likely have to include a first rounder next year as well as a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd this year (depending on the pick in the first round).
Hoping Ballard picks at 6 this year, no matter what.
-
Loved landing him last season. Him and Wilson is a good foundation to build our backfield on for years to come.

Browns might take chubb at 4. They can get a RB later and I doubt they spend a #4 overall on a guard.
Could be Garrett & Chubb Dynamic Duo pass rushers!
Mathis/Freeney 2.0-ish
Maybe the Broncos could see value in a Von Miller/Chubb duo.

Colts:
1st - Quenton Nelson OG
2nd - Rashaan Evans LB (Alabama), Nick Chubb RB (Georgia), James Washington WR (Oklahoma State)
3rd - J.C. Jackson CB (Maryland)
4th - Ogbonnia Okoronkwo LB (Oklahoma)
5th - Armani Watts S (Texas A&M)

I would be very unhappy with that draft. Not a single pick I like.

Peyton would run through the division 6-0 in his prime.
Anyways, I agree with the possibility of us winning the division. However, we are ways to go. The stars would have to align; Luck would have to full recover and bounce back into 2014 form, we would need to hit home runs in the draft, our FAs would have to pan out and our coaching would have to be better than recent years.
I think those are too many "if"s to bank on right now.
I seriously doubt even Peyton would be able to do that.
- Leagues worst O-line (even Peyton would be sacked a gazillion times a season with this O-line)
- A weak arsenal of weapons to throw the ball to, outside T.Y. Hilton.
- No RB (Mack is hardly Fournette, Bell or Gurley)
- A weak defense, long gone are the days of Freeney/Mathis.
Sure we have some interesting young talents like Hooker, Wilson and some solid seasoned players like T.Y., Castonzo and a few others, but let's be real here. Our roster needs an upgrade at almost every position.
It's going to take few seasons of developing the young talents, drafting smart and signing the right guys in FA, before we're back. And that's okay. I'll still support my Colts while they build a team that can compete deep into the playoffs again.
-
Had to google him.. Seems like a fine signing, who can add depth to the LB group and add quality to our special teams.
-
Luck is good. Or rather he was. We have no idea how good he is now.
In all honesty, even with a prime Peyton, we would still not win AFC South this coming season. Even with a slam of a draft. Our roster is without question the worst in our division. That matters, more than who's suiting up as your QB on gameday. QB's are important, but they don't win games on their own.
We will get back, but it's going to take some time. More than what most in here is willing to admit.

This draft has HUGE O-line talent, next year has not much...next year has a lot of talent on D so I feel since we are not trying to win short-term and instead long-term, we should draft Nelson. JMO though...
THIS - Exactly.
For years now, everyone has been b*tching and moaning about our abysmal O-line.
It has reached a point where the healt of our franchise QB is in doubt. Along comes the best Guard most scouts call probably the best prospect they've ever seen, and everyone wants to pass on him and keep trying to fix the O-line through later rounds picks.
This despite the fact that every sane person should realise that we're not winning anything, anytime soon. The AFC South is no longer the weakest division in the NFL, it's one of the best. We WILL end up 4th, at best 3rd if we're lucky (Andrew Luck won't change the fact that we have the weakest roster in the division, even post-draft), in our division next season.
So the point is - Look further ahead, especially if you want to build through the draft. Next year is loaded with defensive talent, so why not just focus on protecting our most priced player now. Fix the O-line.
