  1. Happens to most teams. Its the past, so it doesn't matter. Colts look strong on both sides of the ball

(-1 or 2 DBs for depth) Time to get excited about the present.

If the D-line improves to the talent level we're hoping (Moala, Nevis, Harris), perhaps the DBs will be much better by osmosis?

  2. We have some Baltimore Colts fans here so they'll correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Colts have to be in Indy for another 15 years or so in order to be here longer than they were in Baltimore.

Well, the Colts have been in Indy since '84, so that's what, 27 years?

Having not looked it up, my recollection is that the Colts were in Baltimore beginning in about 1953. So, that would make it 31 years.

If I'm right, it's close, but not yet.

  3. wow, im so sorry i made a spelling error, but i could not disagree with you more.

you seem to agree with me that Moss plays differently depending if he is happy with the situation. But then you try to say he would be at the same level of play in Indianapolis as he was in Tennessee. Peyton and our system is not the same as Kerry Collins and Rusty Smith in TEN. Did u see his TD catch with one hand against the Jets (over Revis i think) last year?!?!? You cannot judge him on last year with TEN alone. He knows that in Indy we have one goal this year and it happens to be the same as his, win a superbowl. If he wants to play for us, for the right price, i for one will not be disappointed. I will just have to agree to disagree with you (but i am right) ;)

If he signs here, let's just hope our buffet is up to par with his expectations.

  5. I'm not sure what "rediculous" means but, no I do not think the Colts are a lot better with Moss. I don't even think they would be a little better with Moss. And no, Garcon is not a hall of fame WR and never will be but Moss last year no longer played like a HOF WR either. I'm not taking anything away from his (Moss) career accomplishments and if this was 5 years ago or even 2 years ago my attitude on signing Moss would be completely different.

    Not anymore he couldn't.

The attitudes some of us are attaching to recent free agent signings seem to be somewhat of a syndrome.

People need to be careful about their expectations of one time great players being signed to one year contracts. They come in with realistic concerns attached to them, and may not pan out.

The hope is that they will pan out, but we dangerously build up hopes that they WILL pan out, and WILL make a big difference.

A signing of Randy Moss could be the most dangerous, as, he could work out and have a huge impact, or, he could be the Randy Moss we've seen over the past couple of years (and sprinkling over his entire career), and be a huge detriment to the team. The last thing we need is to be in an important situation, call a play where Randy isn't the #1 option, he takes the play off, and Manning needs to go to him, but he's emotionally disengaged.

To me, if you sign him, be quick to pull the trigger on him as soon as he shows the ability to disengage.

If/when some of these guys make the team, and don't excel, I really don't want to hear all the belly aching about why a Polian made such a stupid decision to take a chance on this guy, or that guy.

  6. you must be "that guy" i am sure you could take over tomorrow, and coach, g.m. and cure cancer

you are the man.wow all i wondered was why no help and end up in a debate with boy wonder!

But he's right. What Manning said has been a little blown out of proportion on this board.

Personally, I'm perfectly fine with the Colts not making the BIG splashes in FA. At least, many's perception of BIG splash. We have managed to sign some players (this year, and over the years) that have made quite an impact on this team. You know, by signing their own.

Why does this have to be addressed multiple times each season? People need to stop getting their feelings fed to them by the media.

When the Colts string together a couple of losing seasons, that's when I may look for another approach.

  7. Way to often & quite disturbing after writing a long post i or responce and cant post it and cant bring site back up for some time

I have been having problems loading pages the past 2 - 3 days, but not always. I passed it off as increased traffic to the site.

Though, that shouldn't happen, as the game day threads will explode the system under these circumstances.

  8. Since when have FAs been a guarantee? It's not about trusting your draft picks - it's about running a sound business. You really don't want to have a bunch of money tied up in unproven players, do you? It happens all the time that draft picks don't work out. It also happens all the time that FAs don't work out.

Thus, the owners went for, and got a rookie salary cap in the new deal.

  9. Holy crap.

Methinks James Harrison has a screw or two loose. It's one thing to rip commentators, other players around the league, or even Goodell. But his comments about his teammates are, IMO, unacceptable.

This guy is unbalanced and may have legitimate mental issues. It's almost a little scary.

Perhaps 'the way he was taught to tackle' has hurt him more than it's hurt those he's hit.

  10. Mat Hoffman, BMX rider. The guy has been in 2 coma's and has had over 20 concussions, not to mention over 300 stitches, and broken bones. It goes to show you that a man's body can withhold a lot of pain. Then again, this is the case for only 1 person

How old is Mat Hoffman, and what might his capacity be 10, 15, 20 years down the road.

Also, and I obviously say this without a decent google search, what lead to John Mackey's problems (proper care for ex-players aside)?

    Mohammad Ali?

Yes, everyone handles these issues differently, at least in the beginning, but I'd have to believe it effects all to varying degrees.

I agree with 'what else would he say', but I also agree with the concern that he could truly be in denial, and take unnecessary risks.
