He’s to hoping next season is different. It’s a QB graveyard this year. I keep checking my phone on Sundays wondering who’s next to be knocked out for the season…

I think AR will be fine next year.  With a full season workout plan and better IQ regarding protecting himself, he should be ok, hopefully.  I still want us to use his legs, but similar to hurts.  A couple of designed plays but majority should be opportunistic (scrambles, rollouts, etc.)

and yeah, it’s crazy.  The Super Bowl seems like it’s going to be KC vs Eagles again as they seem to have been the healthiest.

  2. Yeah, Moore is definitely earning his check this year.  Dude has balled out.  What I love about him is he tackles like a linebacker but he’s only 5’8”.  Wish he had some more speed on him (which is what’s probably preventing him from being an outside corner) but he makes up for it in IQ and technique

  3. They don’t have a run game.  And when they didn’t make a move to get a running back at the deadline I figured they were going to go downhill.

They need a running game badly.  Monday game was an outlier because they actually ran the ball pretty well but the turnovers by cook and Allen killed them.

Allen shouldn’t throw more than 25 times and have at least 5 rushes, whether they are scrambles or designed runs.

  4. As others have said, I need to see at least 2 seasons before I write him off.  I think what’s happening to Young is a collection of failures:

Frank Reich:  in an article I read, I found an interesting quote: “According to Russini, the Panthers’ offense has been called boring,” “predictable,” and “lifeless” in her conversations with league sources.”  If you replaced Panthers with Colts, you’d think the article was old.  Reich is supposed to be this QB whisperer and I have yet to see him work his magic.  Let’s say Young wasn’t his choice, but if you’re supposed to be this QB guru, then Reich should be able to create an offense that works for him.

Scott Fitterer:  the panthers are DEVOID of talent.  I think it would be hard for any QB to win with that team.  The offensive line is HORRIBLE and the weapons he has won’t get Young anywhere.  If you knew you were going to draft an undersized QB then the main objective should’ve been building up the offensive line.  Once again, the GM has not helped young out.

Offensive Line:  that offensive line is horrible.  Young is the 4th most sacked qb in the league.  Since the panthers don’t have a first next year, they need to shell out some money to build that offensive line.

This thread since Richardson went down has turned into a Richardson bashing thread for everyone who wanted stroud and not Anthony.

Which is sad because we never would’ve gotten stroud without giving up the farm.  Which then people would have been mad at because we wouldn’t have a first next year.

Im honestly glad we didn’t trade up because we need to keep building this team.  Honestly, the colts and Texans got lucky that the panthers took young because the Texans probably would’ve ended up with AR and we would’ve had to pick between young and Levis.

does it suck that AR got hurt, yes it does.  Does it suck to watch Texans fans play with their new toy while ours sit on the sideline, it does.  But I find happiness knowing that we have the right coach to turn our qb into a monster.  All of these people bashing AR this year will be singing for him in the future

  6. Offense: Moss, his impact after replacing he who will not be named was instant.  Was second in yards prior to JT coming back.  No one saw Moss being THAT good.

Defense:  Moore, after an abysmal year, this year he’s showing that it was a fluke.  Dude is balling.  At first, I had my reservations about resigning him, but now, bring him back.  Definitely top 3 if not the best nickel corner in the game right now.

Special Teams:  Matt Gay, he’s worth the money.  He’s been accurate and been hitting some LONG kicks.

  7. Right Guard is not a problem.  Is it fixed?  Idk maybe, but fries is solid.  The problem with the line (which has actually played good for the most part) is that Nelson and Smith need to play up to their contracts.

but I agree about everything else.  A TRUE WR1, an every down DE, and another corner is needed.  My hope for this upcoming FA:

WR1:  draft one.  Looks like we’re out of the MHJ sweepstakes but there are multiple first round grades WRs in this draft

DE:  sign chase young.  He wants to test FA.  Ok, offer him the biggest bag for a DE ever.  If he turns it down, it’s because he’s ring chasing.

CB:  draft one.  Like WR, there are multiple first round graded CBs in this draft.  If we’re able to grab one, I think a starting lineup of Brents, the drafted CB, and Moore is ok.  With flowers and jones filling out the rest of the depth chart.

honorable mention:  we need a FS also.  I think Blackmon is good at SS, but Thomas isn’t it at FS.  Idk who we could go sign or draft, but an upgrade is needed.

  8. I agree about the tight ends.  I think it’s because we really don’t have a do it all tight end.  Ogletree seems to find open spots well but he’s not a burner, or in other words someone who can beat a LB.

The other tight ends do one thing and another thing not so good.  Whether that’s can get open but can’t block or vice versa.

Woods seems to be another do it all tight end but he’s not healthy.  In the future, I see us going woods and ogletree as TE1 and 2

  9. Yeah, stroud is clearly the best qb so far from this class.  I wanted him but realized with the panthers and Texans in front of us, we weren’t getting him.

i will say, I am fine with AR.  If he isn’t injury prone then I think we got the 1B QB of this draft with stroud being 1A.  AR will never be the thrower Stroud is, but his legs will make up for it.  He’s a matchup nightmare at the most important position in the game.

Sucks we don’t have AR because I’m pretty sure he’d be shining.  He was playing ok to great against GOOD competition.  So I have no doubt he would’ve been having great games against the bad teams.

  10. Good

    - Kenny Moore:  2 ints, 2 TDs, 8 tackles (7 of them solo).  MVP of the game.  Enough said.

    - Minshew:  stat wise, he did nothing special, but he’s in the good category because he ZERO turnovers.

    - JT:  bad running day but good to see him catching passes out of the backfield and he got one touchdown out of it.

    - MPJ:  not a great game but a good one.  8 catches on 8 targets.  Would like to see the avg get above (8.0yds) but I’ll take it.

    - Shaq:  led the team in tackles with 10.  7 of them solo.  He’s slowly getting back to being maniaq.

    - defensive line:  buck, qwitty, ade, and dayo combined for 4 sacks.  They were getting good pressure.

    - Matt Gay:  2/2 and the longest was 57 yards.  That’s what we pay him for.

    Bad

    - McKenzie:  i doubt he retains return duties by the end of the year.  That fumble, ugh.

    - Josh Downs Injury:  not good, hopefully he recovers quickly because without him, I don’t see MPJ carrying this offense through the air.

    - Alex Pierce:  2 targets, 0 receptions.  Put up a Goose Egg.  Hopefully he turns it around because I had high hopes for him, but he’s not looking good at all.

  11. don’t know how to feel about this.  I haven’t been a fan of Gus lately but Zaire seems to be doing just fine.  I think it’s a combination of Shaq trying to get back to his old form and him not just playing well.

the old Shaq would’ve been the first to the ball carrier and forcing turnovers.  Current Shaq is usually last.  He’s been progressing however so honestly I think he needs to just stay the course.  This seems like frustration

    Um...it's too late

both are free agents at the end of this year and reports said young didn’t want to resign with anyone he went to because he wants to get his money in free agency.  If this is true I’m glad we didn’t trade for either because if they didn’t stick around then we would’ve lost out on the draft capital also.

Him and Chase Young are who I want the colts to go after.  Both fill needs and are young.  Doubt we’d get both but I’d be happy with either or.  I know we have our guys to resign but somehow I hope Ballard makes this happen.

  14. After seeing who got moved, I’m actually ok with standing pat.  Young didn’t want to resign right away with whatever team he was going in order to test the FA market so I understand that.  Rethinking Scary Terry, he is 28 so he’s a little up in age and will be when our QB and team starts to come on.  Rasual Douglas, same thing.

so with that said, I’m ok.  Now come the off-season, Mr. Ballard better offer chase young a lot of money because that would instantly fill a need and save us having to find someone in the draft.

Hopefully Ballard looks to sign a corner in free agency soon we can at least slow the bleeding this year.  It’s clear this team is in a semi-rebuild so if we do go for someone, it’s going to be someone younger.  We’re the 3rd youngest team in the league and for sustained success the talent will have to be able to stick around with AR.  Ballard seat got a little cooler but if next years FA comes and goes and we stand Pat again I’m throwing it into the fire.

And how do you become a competing team?  First by addressing your weak points.  Like not having a pass rush, and constantly failing to improve it in the draft.

exactly, I’m all for being reserved building the foundation first.  But Ballard is in year 8.  Yes, we finally have a qb who will be here for a while but he’s been building the foundation for years.  If we’re going to be reserved after getting our franchise qb then we should’ve gone FULL rebuild mode and not a soft one.

Probably a rental for a one time SB run this year.

Id be ok if we paid him in FA lol.  He’s 24 and we can give him a fat contract through his prime years.  Hopefully he goes for the money and not the opportunity to compete lol
