So, we now know that losing your starting QB doesn't mean you have to lose. Houston won today despite losing their two QB's, down to their rookie third string. The bears so far, are holding their own...We'll see in a couple hours where they stand. You would think that we could at least win one game with a backup, wouldn't you? I mean given the talent of the teams we've played this year, we should have been able to stumble to victory in at least one.
Some of you who defend Caldwell, I'm sorry, but your arguments don't hold water. The Colt's ineptness goes far beyond losing Peyton, and far beyond shoddy special teams. The team we see today was made over the last few seasons with poor front office moves, and poor coaching. You can argue the point, but the proof is in the pudding. 0-11.
Pathetic.

Listening to another post game show describing how we are just inches away....we're getting better, but not consistent enough.....Just give Curtis a chance to prove himself...yadda yadda yadda
That's worse

Well, with the latest from Polian and Caldwell, I'm ready to be rid of both of them. Caldwell, I was already done with when he took the reigns, but I was willing to give Polian another year or two before calling for his head.....no more. After his comments about Painter, which is downright *ic, along with his continued blantant disregard for his fan base, I'm done. Bye Jimmy and Billie, don't let the door hit ya on the way out.
-
For the record, I agree with Kravitz 100%.

painter enjoy your last six games in the nfl. better start getting ready for the ufl
I don't think he could hack it in the UFL....he'd be better off learning how to stock groceries at Kroger. (It worked for Kurt Warner, right?)
-
I am numb / bewildered/ confused / and wondering about the mental health behind many of the various Colt moves and decisions
My exact reaction when I read the clip too....it's uncanny.
-
But who's going to back up our highly drafted QB? I certainly hope Painter is not the only option we have......Orton could ride 3rd string until Manning retires, then he backs up our yet to be named highly drafted QB.
-
Look further down the road than this season, eh? He'd make a good backup for the next 5 years or so.
Besides, it worked out pretty good the last time we took a former Bear QB on the roster, right? Capt. Comeback, anyone?
-
Unless we keep him as a career backup. He's only 29, so he has more life in him, he could be around for a while and help bring a little credibility, kind of like Sorgi did.
While he might find a starting job elsewhere, I don't think he's been consistent enough to be considered a starting QB that's going to lead a team to the promised land.
-
How about we dump both Painter and Orlovsky and pick up Orton? I suppose we should keep one of the hapless duo around for the rest of the season, but beyond that, Orton would probably be okay as a second string or third string (second for Manning, third for Manning/Luck)
Wishful thinking I know, but it does make you wonder.....

I also don't put any stock what so ever into what Irsay tweets, the guy is a flake when it comes to twitter. God help us if he starts tweeting the lyrics to Meow Mix comercials. Meow Meow Meow Meow.....uh oh, looks like we are drafting a cat first this year!!!!
-
It's been a long time since Freeny and Mathis tee'd off on anyone. I don't expect a win against Carolina, nor for the remainder of the season.
-
Wouldn't it be great to put together a 16 game DVD series of Peyton's best performances over his career?
-
Here's my delima. We have the best QB in the league, but for how long? Hopefully we won't be drafting first more than this year, and we have a shot at another QB who could be as good as Manning. (or almost, as I personally think Manning is one of a kind) Would you pass at the chance of having another Peyton Manning on your roster for the next decade?
What ever happens, it's going to be interesting to witness.

I had to laugh, as I was watching the game they spent a lot of time focusing on Caldwell. The man hasn't changed a bit in the last two years, Same blank stare, darting eyes, look of a deer in the headlights.....even Chris Collinsworth made the comment back then that Caldwell was the "anointed one" who had no head coaching experience other than Wake Forest, having been hired by Dungy while trying to recomend someone else from his staff at the college.
That was a classic game where Peyton saved the day, along with a bone headed call by BB. Caldwell was along for the ride.

I just finished watching Peyton disect the Patriots!!!! Turns out I have the 11/09 game on my DVR, original airing. So, I'm good.
-
I dug out one of my DVRs that I hadn't used for a while and found something interesting. I recorded the 11/09 meeting between the PATS and Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium and had forgotten about it until tonight. My god, I can't even relate how great it was to see the Colts playing relatively well again....it was a needed break from the reality that is 0-10.
I also have the Superbowl on the DVR (versus the Saints) but I don't think I am ready to watch that again, even after 2 years healing.
-
I would fire the coaching staff and replace them with FatHead posters of Jim Harbaugh. I'd bench Painter, and tape Reggie's mouth shut for suggesting the he was worthy of a chance. I'd force Lacey to community service. Beyond that, I need time to evaluate my next moves......
-
Believe me when I say this Caldwell will have these guys ready. He knows this is a must win for the team because nobody wants to be 0-16. Cam Newton is solid but our defense will step it up and I see us getting at least 17 on the board so I think we will win 17-13. If they dont win this game it just shows that Polian is forcing Caldwell to lose because we all know Caldwell is a very good coach.
I'm speechless.....Whether this is denial or acute blindness? (maybe sarcasim?)
-
Ebay has worked well for me.
-
How do you determine if someone lacks the passion and what is the needed experience to win on the NFL level?
I would say 0-10 is a pretty good indicator. Add that to the losses we had last year and it looks even more dismal.

While I don't hold Collinsworth in high regard, he has no reason to lie here.

We do know that Peyton runs the practice...one could only assume that Caldwell is off chasing butterflies or somthing similar.
Okay, maybe not chasing butterflies, he's not fit enough...how about blowing the fuzz off the dandilions?
-
That's your opinion, and I'm okay with that...I disagree though.
5 Year Intrim Coach Thoughts Anyone?

Apparently Houston has figured out how to win with a third string QB. So 8818, you are saying we can't manage even one single victory, considering the playoff caliber teams we've played such as Carolina, Jax, Kansas City, Browns, etc, etc. This goes far beyond the loss of Peyton, and it should be obvious to anyone who knows the game.
As to making Peyton a coach, if it's something he wants to do, he'll do well, no matter what.
