  1. The AFC really is wide open. Lots of question marks with Cincy and Denver at QB, even if Dalton and PM come back. NE is still the team to beat but that has more to do with coaching and Brady than overall talent (injuries on both sides of the ball are taking a toll). The Chiefs don't scare me, nor do the Jets. Pitt is an offensive juggernaut but their secondary is flat terrible. If the Colts do get in, Luck plays at least in week 17, and the offense clicks starts to click like in the Denver game, they have just as good of a chance as last year. I love that KC match up in the first round if the Colts do somehow manage to get in by winning this weekend and then winning one out of the last two.

the fact that he was able to practice is a good sign by itself. whether he plays or not we'll have to wait and see, but completely jumping to assumpation he wont play is premature

Well sure. I will be interested to see if we get info on how limited he was. If he practices all week, that's a good sign. I assume then they will scan him on Saturday to see how the kidney is, and clear or not clear him to play. He'll be listed as questionable regardless, I assume...

Seems you're ruling it out before Luck even ruled himself out.  He didn't even rule his own self out of playing Sunday.

idle? hes been throwing and running for weeks. its not like hes sitting on his couch eating potato chips

See my post above. Yesterday I literally saw contradictory reports. I tend to believe he has been lifting, throwing, and running but really we don't know.

There's no way Luck plays this week. He's been idle for weeks now, no way he's ready to see action on the field

I agree he won't play but I have been hearing such conflicting reports about what he has and has not been doing. They range from he still isn't lifting or running (i.e., isn't increasing heart rate) to he has been lifting and running sprints (i.e., he is healed enough to increase heart rate). Who knows. Obviously want him to play this week IF healthy but really think he practices this week and then plays next week. I suppose they could shut him down for the year if we lose this week. Who knows...just wait and see.

The answer to your question is no. I watch every Colts game and just about every game that gets aired in my area. It may be wrong to compare but the Colts don't have a leg to stand on after all the injuries. Some teams overcome that, next man up plays just as hard as the starter before him, however it's different with the Colts. They are lacking motivation offensively even through the wins in my opinion. Some players look as if they are shutting down early for the season and giving up hope. Chuck seems a lot different this season as well and it shows in all the interviews and on the sidelines. He knows he's gone and in my opinion I can read that from the vibe he sets (especially in interviews). Just how I've seen it.

I agree Chuck is different. We can disagree the players have mailed it in.

Our guys look like they've hung it up early this season and are prepared for black Monday clean out. I don't see the fire in anyone to do everything they can to win games anymore.

You are making this judgment based only on the Pitt game? There is no way you could feel this way after winning three in a row, two with a back-up QB.

  7. No, I am not. I am simply wondering why a well paid GM chooses not to answer questions Mr. Irsay pays him handsomely for.

Okay, perhaps some of Ryan's responses don't meet with my approval sure, but anytime the interviewer repeats a question that is pretty straight forward, the GM is playing a shell game hoping you don't remain persistent & find the missing pearl & address the pink elephant in the room.

He's not even original with his canned lines of delay & distract like "there's a lot of football to be played yet before the dust settles". Stuff like that.

I typically appreciate your perspective (even if I don't agree), but I think you are way out of bounds in this. DD asked pertinent questions and Grigs gave as unempty answers as a guy in his job can.

My take away: either Grigs is a liar or Holder, et al. are blowing the tension out of proportion. My read between the lines is that Grigs is abrasive and that results in antimosity but not toxicity.

  8. I didn't vote because I say yes D'Qwell, no D'Qwell about equal in a game. I'm really not sure. I'd rather have the perfect ILB but that's a dubious request. If the staff reduces his role by having a real rotation I say keep. I really think Moore and Irving have a ton of upside but depth is critical at ILB and D'QWell does provide leadership.

  9. Out here on the West Coast,  we had the Pitts-Oak game first.    And that game went way, WAY long.

So,  the broadcast of the Colts-Denver game didn't come on until most of the 1st quarter was over.     So, I missed a fair amount.

    Here's my question?

Did AJ play yesterday,  or was he a healthy scratch?

I'm not sure I saw him on the field or heard his name even mentioned?

Did Griff replace AJ and play the rest of the way?

    Inquiring minds want to know.....

    Thanks for the 411.............

AJ was out there, but Whalen got more snaps than in Carolina.

  10. And how do you figure he is apart of the problem? Do you even know what his job functions are as apart of this organization?

    Read this article: http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2014/06/11/exactly-coach-rob-chudzinski-colts/10342289/

He has his hands in multiple parts of preparation in some way or another on all sides of the ball. I don't really see how you could think that the Associate Head Coach isn't part of the problem when it is obvious that the coaching staff is struggling.

  11. Finally, you answered your own question, Whalen fumbled 3 times last game. Prior to that Whalen was generally smart with returns and kept the ball safe, even if he wasn't much of a threat.

Actually Whalen had ball safety issues and dubious decision making prior to the Colts signing Cribbs last year (he was OK for a few games and then went down hill just like this year). His track record as a return man when he tries to do anything but fair catch or take a knee is less than desirable.

  12. If only the team could play like they did for the first half of the Patriots game and the 4th quarter of the Saints game..

The Colts would be a scary team if they played like that! haha

That's the most frustrating thing and why I think the Colts' issues are much more coaching than talent related. Inconsistency, penalties, bad play design, etc. fall square on the coaches.

  13. Grigs hurt us when he didnt improve the line in 4 years

Do you remember the OL he inherited? Has he done an A+ job? No. Is the OL looking better? Yes. The blocking against the Texans provides a glimpse about what Grigs saw/sees in Holmes and Thorton. Jack is solid.

Stop acting like a toddler and be rational. Developing an OL takes time. Time is running out for Grigs but it's not as terrible as you want to make it seem.
