  1. This performance by the Denver team was the performance of a team that read its press clippings.

It is such an overrated defense, I have to FINALLY agree. Brady would have lit them up in Denver like Flacco.

The better and more resilient team won.

    Congrats to Ravens!!!

    Overrated, no.  Overconfident, yes.

  2. I actually think HC of the NY Giants is a perfect job for Bill Cowher. An elite QB in Eli Manning, a great GM in Jerry Reese, a respected owner that doesn't make rash decisions in John K. Mara similar to the Rooney's in Pittsburg, and a great front 4 pass rush...A perfect fit for Bill. He can just wait out Tom Couglin's retirement or dismissal in his cozy CBS Sports analyst job. I'd love to see that flying spit in the Big Apple myself.

Waiting in the wings for the King to abdicate isn't always a good idea, anyone remember who replaced Tony Dungy?

  3. Good coach with a lot of credentials. If Arians leaves and Bill would ever consider being a OC.. I'd love to have him.. Don't really know if he would be suitable for the job..

There is zero chance of taking OC or DC, he will cherry pick whatever job he wants...and get it.

  4. I'm dead serious. No one can do what he does. In terms of ability there is simply no one like him. He can do it all. His talents will bring him and the Packers more Super Bowls.

In terms of achievements, he already won a Super Bowl, so he's gotten the monkey off his back.

Had a GOAT regular season in 2011. Actually, when you look closer Rodgers season is just as impressive as 2004 Manning, and better than 2007 Brady.

Had Rodgers played in the last game against Detroit in the 2011 season and also not been pulled out of the 2-3 game in the 3rd or 4th quarter during the regular season, he would have broken both Marino's record (now Brees' record), Manning's record and Tom Brady's 50 TD record.

I mean Flynn threw 6 TDs against the Lions at home, at with the Rodgers had been playing all season, there is no reason to think he wouldn't. That would have secured him Manning's record and Brady's record. Had he "only" thrown for, let's say 3 or 4 TD in the last game, he could still have broken the 50 TD record, IF he had not been pulled out in those other games furing the season. I think Flynn threw a couple of TDs in those as well.

Rodgers could have broken it all, but he's not a statpadding machine like Brady (and Brees). He's more like Manning. Manning was also pulled from games in 2004, including almost the entire last game against Denver. Peyton could have thrown for 53-54 TD, maybe more, that season. Brady and Brees needed all the games and more throws to break those records. They were never pulled. Rodgers beat Mannings season rating record though, which is why I rank his 2011 season higher than Manning's.

Rodgers is the NFL's all-time career leader in passer rating during both the regular season with a rating of 104.9, and the postseason with a rating of 105.5.

He also holds the league's lowest career pass interception percentage for quarterbacks during the regular season with a percentage of 1.81%.

He will have the stats AND hardware to support the claim.

    Agree or disagree?

Like Samuel Clemens said, "the reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."

How about he gets a few more years in the NFL first, he just qualified for the pension last year...

  5. It was a calculated risk, one that im sure involved countless doctors, etc.  He had to do a tremendous amount of rehab, no doubt about it, but it wasn't as big of a risk as people are trying to make it out to be.  You just don't give a 100 million dollar contract to someone that you think isn't going to be able to heal from it.  Everyone knows what kind of QB Manning is, his mind wasn't injured, so if you feel that he was going to be able to physically recover from the injury, then yes he would return to his old form because it was just a matter of arm strength, everyone else about him was the same.

First it wasn't a hundred million dollar deal, it was an $18 million (still nothing to sneeze at) one year contract and a 4 year contract for the rest pending on passing a March 2013 physical.  You mentioned arm strength being the question, the nerve damage from the surgeries were what determined that and no one knew what that was until he started throwing.  The Broncos gambled a relatively small amount hoping to win it all, and so far they have but the story won't be finished until March.

  6. Coaches hold the responsibility of making the right choices, even if they are unpopular choices.

If for one second the idea of the general public getting upset at him, not saying it did, swayed him to start RG3 then he failed as a head coach.

I don't think this is a choice made without reproach. I think this should absolutely be talked about because if the signs were there for even me to see something wasn't right, and Dr. Andrews expressing concern, Shanny should have contemplated his choice more carefully.

Because clearly his wrong call is not only costing RG3, it's costing his team, and the fans.

Griffin should have been pulled in the 3rd quarter. After he began with like 60yrds and two TDs in the first half, and your midway through the 4th quarter and he only amassed like 20 more yards, something was clearly wrong.

I understand where your coming from however, but I don't think Mike should be given a pass for this. IMO.

Agreed with most points you made but from what I've read Dr. Andrews wasn't as concerned until today, maybe I missed something though.  I'm not suggesting the coach should be given a pass but his decision is based on the facts given to him on the sideline and it isn't clear to me if Dr. Andrews suggested sitting out or not.

Twenty twenty hindsight is much easier to use when making decisions

  7. What about that comment suggests my lack of intelligence?  The fact that the Broncos gave Manning the richest contract for a QB in the entire league because they thought he wouldn't be able to return to form and play at an elite level?

Believing that shows a lack of intelligence.  There is no way they give him that contract if they believed that his injury was career threatening, people just love to keep saying that to try and add more drama to his story, which is a great story for the Comeback Player of the Year award, but totally irrelevant to the MVP award.

Yea, im the one lacking in intelligence.. lol.

The Broncos gambled and won.  There was no precedent to read about for returning from multiple neck surgeries, there was no sure bet that he would return to the form he has displayed this year.

Most valuable means just that, without Christian Ponder the Vikings and Adrian Peterson crashed to reality.  Manning lost his top running back Willis McGahee and it was business as usual, the most valuable player continued to win.  I am sorry I inferred any lack of intelligence, I just think you need to open your eyes to the reality of the doubts that existed about Peyton Manning.

  8. All the talk about whether Mike Shanahan was right to allow his quarterback to play.

If Coach Shanahan had pulled RG, the fans and talking heads would be screaming instead of how the coach had no faith in his quarterback or how he didn't trust his quarterback to know when he is hurt.

Totally a no win situation for the coach and it should not be subject to second guessing like this, especially when the player himself says he wanted to play, wanted to lead his team, and would until he felt the injury warranted attention.

  9. Forget Avery and Fitzgerald, last years draft worked out so roll the dice for next year.  I never thought high dollar free agents worked out often enough to be worth the money invested...but yes once in a while it does.

  10. The following is from an article in "Forbes" so I won't guarantee truthfulness but why does anyone care?

Check out this top ten list of “The NFL’s Best Tattoos”:

    10. Tom Brady had the tattoo of his wife, Gisele, wearing a Wes Welker jersey removed after last year’s Super Bowl. He has since replaced it with one of a single UGGs boot.

    9. The Harbaugh brothers have tattoos of each other on their necks.

    8. Speaking of necks, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has Frankenstein-like scars tattooed on his. Those are tattoos, right?

    7. Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy has the names of all 362,000 Packers shareholders tattooed on his back. It’s just part of the deal.

    6. San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, has too many tattoos to count, as we found out in this silly column. In fact, somewhere on his body, he, too, probably has a tattoo of Rex Ryan’s wife wearing a Mark Sanchez jersey. But good luck finding it.

    5. Washington Redskins owner, Dan Snyder, has “I’m a billionaire, dude!” tattooed on his right middle finger, just as a reminder, to himself and to others.

    4. Jets owner, Woody Johnson, still has a “Romney/Ryan 2012” tattoo across his back.

    3. Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, has the Colts’ horseshoe logo on his right shoulder (this one is true!).

    2. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, James Harrison, has a tattoo of a really cute kitten on his left arm, right under his “I (heart) Goodell” tattoo.

    1. Patriots coach, Bill Belichick, has an “I’m a Belieber!” tattoo running across his chest.

  14. I started on different boards and each time they directed us to the new one it was difficult.  I'm finslly used to this one, I like reading posts from certain familiar names because I know they will be interesting, funny, or insightful depending on the mood of the OP.  I'm just hoping we don't get told to move again, I like it here.....

  15. You want the Ravens to beat Denver? I mean, the whole Ray Lewis thing is sad but I still don't like that team lol.

I guess I misunderstood who you were referring to.  I want the Colts to win tomorrow and have the dream scenario next week in Denver
