I predicted 27-24 I was off one td each, congrats Baltimore Ravens!
-
24-10 Bears
Die hard fan?? Love the comment, but the Bears not so much.
I predict Ravens 27-24 in a nailbiter.

.....The stories during Super week had mostly to do with scandals and that's largely because
the most appealing aspect of Baltimore vs. SF is two guys who arent playing..
Nobody's scalping tickets to this one no matter how hard ESPN and the NFL Net try to sell it..
....Most folks wouldnt watch a regular season game between Baltimore and SF so its hard to make two
defense oriented teams with no great QBs (or offensive players of any kind) on either side interesting.
at least IU plays Michigan Sunday
I'm glad it was these two, the only better match would have been Denver and Seattle in my opinion.

I grew up living near Tech HS and in nearby Lawrence, the dollars generated by the Colts and the Pacers has made the downtown area much nicer as a destination to shop and visit. The taxes are still lower than many cities of comparable size and the Convention complex will assure income to the city for years to come, like jvan said, you gotta spend to earn.

I have had nd season tickets for years. There isn't a 60k per seat fee. They are pulling your leg. There is a 40 dollar fee to enter the lottery that is non refundable if you aren't selected, but that isn't near 60k
Nope, no leg pulling. They pay $125,000 as a contribution before they are sent the bill for their seats. And they are the preferred seats down by the field and they have had them since the 1930s when grandfather Elmer Layden graduated. I went to games with the regular seating and crowded is putting it loosely, I think each seat is 15 inches wide and I much prefer the wide seats with armrests down near the field...
-
I like the double whammy most teams use when you have to first purchase the seat rights and then you have to pay for the tickets. A friend of mine had family at Notre Dame, his grandfather was one of the "Four Horsemen" and they have to pay $60,000 per seat for the right to buy season tickets!
Talk about hidden costs.....
-
The tickets are still a lot cheaper than they are for Bears games outdoors. I live east of Chicago and I wouldn't go to one of those cold, possibly wet games for free....seriously. Maybe a few years ago when my hands and knees didn't remind me of all the stupid things I did in my youth.....
Indy tickets are still one of the best deals out there.

Threads about Bert Jones or Johnny U are no more or less relevant to Colts football. Saturday and Manning represent two key players for the duration of what was an epic era of colts football.
The fact that this needs to be explained just makes me furious.
I understand that and I probably started the whole thing while trying to placate the members that were so indignant last year when we had the debate about having a "Manning" section here, the final decision being for us to use NFL General for the purpose.
I really had no intent to stir it up, I just wanted to post of my admiration for the man whos' jersey I wore to games and for the quarterback that led my favorite team to greatness.
The fact that I have to explain myself may or may not assuage the emotion I stirred up but I had to justify my original intent.
-
Yeah, I posted this under general as they aren't Colts anymore. Big argument on here last year as to where to put "Manning" posts and I didn't want to break the consensus.

Actually Indiana has three NFL teams with the Lake Region is in the Chicago market and the Southeast region is in the Cincy market
Go ahead, rub it in that I live in "the Chicago market!" Bears this, Bears that, Bears regurg!

Bittersweet moment, two of my favorites.

Obviously a favorite player of just about everyone, Colts front office or NFLPA would make me happy.
-
If I were a pro bowl player, I really wouldn't see the point of travelling 7-10 hours in the air just for lousy game no one really cares about. They should just get rid of the game.
We'll see in a few years the first 10 invitees decline, and Brandon Weeden will be starting for the AFC.
I always looked at it as a vacation paid for by the NFL. I was stationed in Pearl Harbor from 79-82 and saw 3 while I was there. Always had families with them and always were fun to meet the players after the game and on the beach.

I thought they screwed up when they fired Singletary, glad I have a day job.....
-
This will be a good game. Who will play the 49ers in the Super Bowl?
My answer always is the winner is irrelevant as long as the Patriots lose.

He would never fall low enough to make it worth the Colts getting him. This whole story is local news for me, South Bend TV stations are on the cable and while it is very possible he was a victim of a hoax he should have handled it better. Forget Teo, he'll find a home somewhere else and will excel for someone else.

come on you dont do that to the god father of football
Living 50 miles east of Chicago we have a mix of Bear and Colts fans and we have one common thread.
We all want anyone except New England to win the Super Bowl, this billboard is just another reason why.

Good list. Not so sure I'd throw Bradshaw in there, though, and I'm contractually obligated to remind everybody that Dallas Sucks.
Fran Tarkenton also probably needs to be snuck somewhere on to the list for the 60s/70s.
I lived in Dallas for 14 years starting at the beginning of the Aikman years but still managed to not be infected with fandom. As for Terry Bradshaw, his inclusion was on ring power, with that many I felt he had to make a list somewhere.
-
Going way back to the beginning of the pass--Sammy Baugh,
The 50s Otto Graham and Bobby Layne
The 60s Johnny U and Bart Starr
The 70s Roger Staubach and Terry Bradshaw
Wasn't sure of your definition of "old school" so I covered all eras.

so we clear the bears and BA stays
"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."
Don't count them out just yet, looks like a close race.

I think this was more of an opinion piece than it was anything factual. I have said a dozen times that this guy is over rated and isn't nearly as good as the average fan thinks he is. He is only 27 yrs. old and yet Miami is letting him walk. Hmmm, A franchise LT(supposedly) and Miami is just letting him go. Yeah, something don't add up.
Yeah but the Dolphins said they were going to cut Brandon Marshall when the Bears offered the draft picks and that worked out pretty good....
-
I think the Bears would be a great choice if BA decided to leave.
All Cutler needs is a coach calling the right plays and with his arm the Bears will go far.
Well that and an O line, a wide receiver, and a tight end....I hate the Bears but if he decides to accept the HC job he richly deserves I hope he goes here.
-
I look at Houston and look at the same thing over and over again. Their offense is not evolving, their QB, I hate to say it, is not nearly as clutch as I have seen Andrew Luck be this year. Plus, mentally, their offense is not built to come back well, when facing adversity.
If you have an O-line that can give your QB some decent time against their D-line, their secondary is not unbeatable by any means. That is where our offseason should help, IMO.
Several of these aspects lead me to believe that with the right offseason moves, the Colts WILL be taking the division back from the Texans next year.
Anyone else feel confident about that?
Sure, a few key O line additions find some help deep and the Colts will seriously contend next year.
-
Wrong.
They weren't underrated either, they got better all season-kinda like the Colts did which leads me to believe both teams will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
The nothingness is here!

It's the off season, no games until late summer. No football except for the draft. Have to find something else to fixate on.....
Naaah, I think I'll take my wife out to dinner and a movie next week for putting up with my addiction to football for 6 months out of the year.
....and it won't be a sports bar either!
