  1. Talented, well coached, and star power leadership on the floor. Can overcome a lot of issues. I wouldn’t say they can’t beat Iowa. I don’t think Iowa’s good outside of Clark. My wife kept saying lsu had the better team, Iowa just has Caitlin Clark. Well do they really have the better team then? I’ve never seen a player like her. She has the green light this weekend, in my book. I don’t know why you would shoot the ball unless you were wide open with a good percentage. Otherwise, a contested shot 5 feet behind the three point line by Clark is more effective.
  2. they got it done. Should be a great final four. Bueckers/Clark- whooa.
  3. It is telling how little news there has been that these threads have news ONLY as the title, and there is still nothing but discussion. There is no news… only bad news on this day.
  4. Ballard on Brents having a unique blend of size, length, and athleticism for the cornerback position: “There are not a lot of guys 6'3" playing corner in the league, but he is a really good athlete. He’s a really good fit for what we want to do because he’s a press corner. We do want to play a little more press coverage. We think he’s going to be really good at it. He’s got some unique traits. He’s a really good athlete and for a tall kid he can really change direction. We’re excited about it. We think he’s a really good fit for the defense.” Sounds like a good safety for us… If only you were general manager for our beloved Colts.
  5. he generally stays out of foul trouble. He plays intelligent enough to avoid being in bad position, and uses his length instead to contest shots. His passing is what makes him most dangerous. Teams have to honor it, although Tennessee should have forced him to pass more, with the way their shooters weren’t connecting. I would rather die by someone else’s three ball than give up three point plays to Edey all night, fouling your guys out and creating easy free throws the last 6 plus minutes of the game.
  6. surely Brents wasn’t drafted in the 2nd round as a corner, starting his rookie year at the position to be converted to a safety… But go on with your football knowledge for all of us to laugh at. 😂
  7. Hard to believe. Loved Vontae. So sad. https://youtu.be/uh2Vqd0vZMo?si=oGYLc8YkB4Lb7kRj Forever one of my favorite Colts memories. Had a great view of this at LOS. What a great football player for us.
  8. I would rather hope, if drafting Mitchell, the FO would bring a vet in at safety and make Flowers/Jones compete for the 3rd spot (not factoring Moore at the nickel). Brents is a starting corner moving forward, I don’t see anyway around that.
  9. They have showed a lot of resolve coming back from the loss last year. Purdue does it the right way. Dan Dakich had a great take on their program compared to IU’s.
  10. I’ve said for a while now that Edey reminds me of Lebron when it comes to drawing fouls. People throw a fit, but they both attack the basket and can take a beating without flinching. The difference is edey doesn’t flop. Just because the guy doesn’t flinch and still scores when he takes a fist across the face, doesn’t mean it isn’t a foul and can’t lead to a black eye…
  11. Why does he need to address the room before the draft? If the safety market hasn't moved much prior to the draft, why would he rush that? The more patience he has, the less he spends and the longer Blackmon waits, the less he makes, imo. I don't see the urgency that others do. We may end up with Cooper DeJean in the draft, and they might feel that he and a low cost vet is suitable. Who knows.
  12. He played a few minutes more than his season average… My point is that Edey will go the distance with very little rest, he’s in that good of shape. He averaged 7 more minutes a game this season than Burns, and that includes in a lot of lopsided wins where he came out minutes early. Burns will have some success, but if I’m betting on anything, it’s that Edey frustrates Burns more than vice versa. As large as Burns is, Edey still has a great size advantage.
  13. he looks good. But he’s going to have his hands full on defense. He only played 27 minutes today, while edey played all but about 30 seconds. That may not seem like a big deal to many, but a difference of 10 minutes on the court could be the difference in the game. And it could be a massive difference.
  14. I just checked. They were the #1 three point shooting team in the country this season at 41%, and making an average of 8 plus a game. They hit 3, shooting 20% today. 72% free throw team average, shot 63% today. They for sure left 8-12 points with pure averages based on how the game went. Officials aren’t going to stop calling fouls on Edey. Purdue is very disciplined in keeping guys out of foul trouble as well as slowly working teams into foul trouble. Once key defenders get pulled, they generally go on runs. I thought they let Tennessee play pretty aggressive today. I don’t expect Purdue to miss shots like they did today. Will be interesting to see opening lines for final four once tonight settles the other part of the equation. Can’t imagine they won’t be 8 point plus favorites Saturday.
  15. No, they usually outshoot teams from the perimeter. 20 free throws for a guy that is bigger and better than everyone/gets the ball every possession. They can’t not foul him. UConn has one guy that can defend him straight up, but most teams don’t. And when they double, it usually means open shooters on the perimeter.
  16. if we can find a way to keep 82, I would love it. I think we can land three really good players at 27, 35, and 46
  17. Regardless, no statue should have a bigger head than PM’s.
  18. Are you sure about that? You believe that Blackmon hasn’t signed because he thinks he is going to get better terms weeks after free agency started? … or is it more likely he wants more than what his market is and Ballard is just waiting for him to come back to the negotiating table after realizing this? Which seems like is starting to happen based on the reports.
  19. what are they based off? I’ve noticed some change in them recently as certain players are inching up towards the 1st round/out of. Is that just based on pro-day news and what not?
  20. it should have been their toughest test thus far in the tournament. Depending how the other side of the bracket goes, they might not have much competition at all this tournament… Illinois fell apart and seemed to forget how to play the game. I’m not sure we’ll see a 30-0 run in the tournament for a while… especially with a final four birth on the line
  21. Illinois was tied and decided they didn’t want to play anymore. 30-0 run for UConn to roll their way to the final four. 12 minutes left but my gosh.
  22. I think UConn is the favorite. They probably win 4 of a 7 game series. They are hands down favorites over anyone else should Purdue not make it. Edey is a tough matchup for anyone. He wears teams down and tests their depth. No one can defend him one on one, and if you double him, he is a lethal passer to a team that is shooting the ball extremely well. But UConn has a guy capable of slowing him down in Clingan. So they could defend Purdue as well as anybody, imo. Braden Smith is playing top notch ball right now. That matchup would entail him against Newton, who is a senior and experience point guard. im not a die hard fan. I have good friends that went to Purdue and have followed them for some time. I want them to win. But UConn is an experienced title defender and plowing through competition as easily as Purdue is. Illinois will give us a good look at what UConn does against a big ten team. Illinois is capable of beating them if they play to their potential and catch UConn slipping some. I don’t expect it. I think they roll to the championship. The big test for Purdue is tomorrow against Tennessee, who they have beaten several straight times now, including this year. Tennessee has never made a final four, so it’s a big time game for both. I think they win against Duke/nc state in the final four. Getting there is the hardest part for Purdue.
  23. Purdue has to be the only program that has a highly rated 4 star recruit start most of his Junior year, return his senior year to play very little. Yet still willing to substitute in to give two fouls, substitute out with a smile on his face, high fiving teammates while enjoying a trip to an elite eight. Ethan Morton was a 4 star recruit, #3 in the state of Pennsylvania. Started all but 6 games last season, averaging 25 minutes a game. Could have transferred and been a key player at any program, but stayed for his senior year in a very diminished role. I think he knew how special this team was…
  24. I’m hopeful that Arnold and Mitchell go 10-14… That just pushes a couple guys that would otherwise be unavailable when #15 turns up and we still aren’t drafting a corner. I’m willing to bet the trade back is more valuable for Brock Bowers and a pass rusher at #15 than either of those guys… Just my feeling.
