I'm not super interested in defending Steichen here. I think your characterization of him as a liar is harsh, but it doesn't offend me, I just don't agree with it.

I think there's shades of grey here. If I'm shopping for a new car, the most important consideration for me might be fuel efficiency. But that doesn't mean the cumulative value of several other considerations can't potentially outweigh the importance of fuel efficiency. I might also think that my way of driving and my intended use of the vehicle can stretch the fuel efficiency further than what's typical.

So in this case, while Steichen said accuracy is very important to him, he didn't say 'I don't want a QB with accuracy issues.' And he believes (IMO, very clearly) that his plan for Richardson will lead to improved accuracy, which is obviously necessary if Richardson is going to have success. In fact, something Steichen said at the Combine was 'you have to see the future, it's tough, but you have to see what these guys can become in the future.' Then he said 'you have to build the offense around the QB, adapt to what he does well.'

And specific to accuracy, he said 'accuracy is important, you have to be able to stand in the pocket on 3rd and 8 and make the play.' But then he was asked if you can teach accuracy, and he said, enthusiastically 'yes I think you can, you can help accuracy with mechanics, and you can help with scheme and simplify the offense to help the QB.' Again, shades of grey, and I think in those comments there's plenty of openness to a player who needs some development.

Bottom line is I don't think picking Richardson means Steichen was not being truthful about the importance of accuracy. And that's not because I'm so dedicated to defending Steichen's honor. I'm taking issue with him in other ways already, so don't reduce every disagreement down to someone not being open to anything that's critical of the HC. But I think you're overly rigid in your interpretation on this one.

    Very well said.

I don't really care. If you see how much heat I take just making people think logically about anything on this board... Trust me... It is not worth it. Which is why I don't spend too much time on this board anymore. I bounce in and out every few months.

Hate me for being right a lot... That's not about me.

It's not about being right, it's the narcissistic attitude you display in your posts. I do agree with most of what you say but not your delivery.

This is just one of many threads back then... It was chaos...

I think the majority of the dislikes on these posts of yours  was the arrogance of you claiming how you Irsay and how you can read his mind. Also statements like: " I just happen to be the one, who was right on just about everything. " tends to turn a few people off.

Obvious... That is where the groupthink starts... People think something is obvious when it is not.

People thought is was obvious that Ballard was getting fired, after Reich was let go.

It was actually obvious to me that Ballard was staying... And I created a thread stating so.

The consensus of what was "obvious" was wrong.

Wow, the great Nostradamus has spoken! I agreed with you in some of your posts concerning Ballard not getting fired but there was never a consensus on the site that he would by fired but some Ballard haters did think he would or more accurately was hoping he would. Far,far, far from a consensus.

No one is demanding retractions because no one SHOULD be demanding retractions or revealing sources.   Many media are simply expressing opinions and observations.   Few are making 100 percent stone cold lock predictions.   Nothing needs to be retracted.

Locally….  I don’t like Doyel.   I think he’s a bad columnist and is looking to deliberately stir things up to attract eye balls.   I’m not a big fan of some of the radio guys….  Dakich (was he recently fired?).   I’m not a fan of media that will say nice things to Ballard’s face, and then rip him when he’s not on the air with him.   Being two-faced is a fast way to get known for being a bad guy.    Otherwise,  I think most local media does pretty well in what I think is a tough sports media market.

    Amen!!

  6. Love the pick. As I said a few weeks ago if he busts at QB he could be a great TE.:yahoo:

Not sure if anyone posted this, and I apologize if they did, but this is a good article from Anthony Richardson's point of view.  Very insightful of where he is coming from.  https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/anthony-richardson-nfl-football-florida-gators  I think he is going to work is tail off and become a beast within the next few years (2-3).

    Thanks! Great read.

i heard texans dont want stroud because he is close friends with watson .    could be a smoke mirror though but the texans could shock every one and take levis or AR   .   then stroud would fall to the colts unless someone trades up at 3

I heard they don't want him because of his agent who is also Watson's agent who they think is an *. Seems trivial but they seem to have there feet pa

    lanted solidly.

    Here are my picks:

    Texans:

Pick 2: CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State

Pick 12: Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech

Pick 33: John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota

Pick 64: DJ Turner, CB, Michigan

Pick 65: Jack Campbell, ILB, Iowa

Pick 104: Marvin Mims, WR, Oklahoma

I wanted to build a solid foundation of draft picks around the Texans. This is their future. Stroud is the franchise QB, Tyree Wilson is the elite EDGE for now and when Jerry Hughes leaves, John Michael Schmitz is the top C in the draft and can fort the O-Line for 10 years, DJ Turner has 4.26 speed and can play slot for the Texans, Jack Campbell is the best LBer in the class IMO, he may not start immediately as LBer is a strong position for the Texans, but he'll fight for the job. Finally, Marvin Mims can battle to start right away for the Texans at WR. Depending on the condition of John Metchie, Mims may start immediately as a 4th round pick.

If they had a draft like that I would be shocked. That is the most solid draft I've see in any mock this year anywhere!

I would say around 20 haha . I don't call people out but off the top of my head I can name 15-20 that seem they are just happy with management, or hope we don't draft a QB, and hope we don't go near Lamar. 80 out of 100 is good though because most people want to see winning. Let me add this, I agree with Ballard not being overly aggressive in free agency, that could back fire on you but I would love to see him at least get 1 or 2 big names that are in their prime that will help us improve. We need a WR and another O.lineman that will be impactful.

Are you suggesting that anyone who doesn't want LJ due to the fact we would be paying him $50M + and forking over several first round draft choices or someone that doesn't want him to go crazy over paying in the first round of free agency is are ok with losing and don't want to see winning? That's like saying because a person does want to bungee jump off a 1,000 foot bridge is just a boring guy and doesn't want to ever have fun. People may want to win as much as you do but may not agree with your approach. No one has all the right answers but if they don't agree with me doesn't make them losers in my eyes.

I remember when Ballard passed on Darrisaw.  Said he wasn't an NFL caliber pass blocking Tackle or something like that.

Don't remember that. We drafted Paye and thought Fisher could fill in at tackle. I think Kwity was a good choice but in hind sight Fisher didn't work out but don't remember Ballard being critical of Darrisaw  at the time.

I’ll take a guess as to the possible (probable?) issue with Isaac Seumalo, this is what I think the holdup is….

The guy has played 6 seasons, and in those seasons, here are his rough snap breakdowns from PFF..,

    — 2 seasons of 1100+ snaps

    — 2 seasons of 500-600 snaps

    — 2 seasons of 100-300 snaps.

So he has played only 2 full seasons out of 6.   And 2 half seasons due to injury.  And 2 fractional seasons due to injury.   2 out of 6 good seasons. And he likely wants 10m+ per year.

That may be why we’re wrapping up Day 4 and a guy viewed as the top guard is still out there — unsigned.

    Just food for thought….

Played 17 games last year and gave up 1 sack, Played all 16 games in in 2019 and got a 3 year extension. tweaked a knee in 2020 and missed 7 games mid season. In 21 he a foot injury that required 2 surgeries from his Lisfranc injury. When he has been on the field he has been stellar. I'd take a chance.

Would be nice but I don't think Ballard pulls the strings. I'm sure he wants 11-13 mil a year range. It would be nice if he would take more money toward the backside of a contract, but I doubt that.

Think he goes for a little less. maybe $10M range but worth it as far as I'm concerned. Need to shore up the line and he would be a great help.30 years old .

I agree. Ballars can’t have wanted him if he wouldn’t match that price.

Ballard has consistently undervalued WRs in my opinion.

Ballard isn't working in a vacuum here. They just hired a new coach that most seemed high on and I am !00% sure the new coach has a great deal of influence in the offense decisions being made. Many point to Campbell's small contract but 30 other teams had a shot at him and passed. I really was hoping  we would resign him but they are the ones getting paid to make these decisions and I have faith they have a plan.
