I was only trying to note the difference in the approach the Colts have taken with Raimann and Freeland.

Last year, the Colts had a plan to accelerate Raimann’s learning curve.   12-15 plays his first few games, 15-18 snaps the next few and so on,  then they threw him in as the starter.

The Colts haven’t taken the same approach this year with Freeland.   I know, different coaching staff, etc.   I’m only noting that Freeland has not played a single snap of regular downs, just Xtra points and FGs.   He’s now being thrown into the deep end right away.   That’s a hard way to learn for a 4th round draft pick.

I like Freeland.   Happy we drafted him.  But there’s a reason he lasted to pick 110 when his body and college experience would suggest he’d get drafted earlier.  In short, he’s got flaws in his game and they’re likely going to be exploited tomorrow.  Freeland could have a tough day.

As always, I hope I’m wrong with my concerns.   But I fear I’m right.

    (Hope I answered your question?)

That makes sense.  I didn't know what you were thinking, but the explanation makes sense!  Maybe he's not as game ready as we hoped!!

He started 41 games at tackle.  25 at LT and 16 at RT.    But….   He’s played ZERO snaps of regular football the first three weeks.   He’s only played 7-8 snaps on Special teams.   FG’s and Xtra points.   That’s it.

    Far far from ideal….

Why woulf he play regular snaps if our LT and RT have been healthy, if that is the position he's slated for?  I would think he plays LT this week.

Including in Colts section as Colts are very much part of this discussion.

Do you think Colts made the best decision?

    New Head Coaches of 2023:

    Panthers - Frank Reich

    Broncos - Sean Payton

    Colts - Shane Steichen

    Texans - DeMeco Ryans

    Cardinals - Jonathan Gannon

For now, Broncos seemed to have made the worst decision.

Panthers made their decision very early in off-season and they chose the safest option, but many know the ceiling isn't probably high for them going in that direction.

To me, Cardinals HC has surprised me the most with their gusty performances every week, with injuries to their QB and after releasing Zach Allen.

Texans and Colts also seemed to have made right decisions as the teams are competing much earlier than many would've expected.

    What's your take?

Payton and Reich are not rookie HCs.  Not sure about the others save Steichen.

Gus Bradley's prevent defense is awful. We really need to look at those end of game situations, imo.

Other than that, I prefer Gus to Eberflus. I feel like we've done a better job against TEs in general. That was probably one of the first times i've seen us stop or slow down Mark Andrews.

What prevent defense looks good though?  Seriously.

For all those folks that made fun of the front office for signing him to such a “large” contract……

    How you like him now?

    Is he a “weapon”?

Four 50+ kicks in one game including the game winner.

Special Teams can win or lose games and his leg just won this one.

Time for some of y’all to eat some crow….

Another Matty Ice in da house!!

Because that’s not good enough for a WR1.

Look at some of the other WR1s around the league:

    Justin Jefferson 17 ypc

    Tyreek Hill 16.5 ypc

    Stephon Diggs 11.2 ypc

    Chris Olave 13.7 ypc

    A.J. Brown 12 ypc

    Ceedee Lamb 14.4 ypc

Some of it is down to usage for sure. But we need to get the ball further down field than we are currently.

I don't think comparing him to those WRs is putting him in the right category.  I do agree we need to get the ball down the field further than we are now though.

142 catches is great, but 9.2 ypc leaves a lot to be desired.

Why is that bad? That, on average, leaves 2nd and less than a yard.  I think those are good odds on helping the team get down the field amd score TDs/FGs.

It's a fair point, but then we have to bring up that the Ravens were without 8 starters. And that Justin Tucker didn't save the day like he normally does. And that the Ravens totally mismanaged the clock after the safety. Etc. I also think there's a lot more variance with Richardson than there is with Minshew. He might have made a few more plays, but he also might have turned the ball over or missed a dump off...

I think the Ravens are a pretty good team, but they weren't at full strength and didn't play their best game. So I'm not exactly convinced that the Colts are on their level.

We were also without our center, Fries went down, and Brents started his first game.  We allowed only one pass over 10 yards.  That's pretty impressive.
