i think everyone can agree Downs is showing to be more reliable. Im

not trying to argue, I’m just glad to see the catch. Why are we even having a discussion about this?

I'm just saying that while I'm glad he scored.... he was wide open... nothing spectacular about the play.  Can't argue he's been playing better than Pierce though.  Go Colts!

I can't lie Im obviously kidding but literally on every third down I always find myself saying 'send the house' as I watch the play knowing there's a 98% chance we're not blitzing.

I wonder what our stats are on successful third down blitzes.   It seemed like it was working against the Rams.... then we stopped.

Head Coach Shane Steichen has shown a proclivity for "going for it" on 4th down - even in an area of the field where a field goal is almost a certainty with Matt Gay.

Sadly - the Colts have left TOO MANY "points on the field" by failing to convert most of those 4th down gambles.

Points - that MIGHT have led to a different result in the W-L column.

Channel your inner coach - is Steichen making the RIGHT decision to "go for the gusto" - OR - the WRONG decision by leaving "points on the field"?

Personally I feel he's leaving too many points on the board,  but he's a first time HC, so I'll give him slack.   He certainly kicked the FGs vs. Baltimore.

I can't say much for the skills as he only became a starter when he transferred to MSU - but the size, speed and length measurements certainly add up.

Perhaps our Secondary Coaches see moldable clay in him?

I see what they are trying to build - would probably rather have Rush but they obviously cut him for a reason outside of physical abilities as they've had chances to sign him and have signed Darren Hall and Ameer Speed now instead.

    Brents is 6'3"

    Speed is 6'3"

    Jones is 6'2"

    Flowers is 6'1" (on IR)

    Baker is 6'1"

    Hall is 6'0" (On PS)

    Brown is 6'0"

Moore is only 5'9" but his wingspan makes him like 6'6" if I recall correctly.............

They are definitely trying to get longer at corner and it seems trying to mx coverages more with press man and zone (mostly) with Jones and Brents on the edges.

Press man, 5-10 yards off the LOS??? LoL.  I haven't seen it yet

I’m pretty sure I also read he was the sack leader coming out of college. If he can blitz and play man, then I’m happy.

"...three starts) at Georgia (2017-21) and compiled 25 tackles (18 solo) and one pass defensed."

Seems underwhelming to me.   Hopefully I'm wrong.  I was hoping Jones, the guy they cut Rush, would look better.   Maybe Jones just needs now time.

Next year will be Ballard’s 8th year.   He’s got a pretty consistent track record on free agency.    2/23 for Justin Houston.  2/20 for Stephan Gilmore.  3/16 for Denico Autry.   3/24-27 for the guy the Colts signed this year from SF.  Ebukam?!?

Are those guys legit enough for you?  Because if not, then I think you’re going to be disappointed next March/April.   I don’t see the Ballard-Leopard changing his spots.   Ballard will sign mid-price free agents like the ones I’ve listed, but he’s not going to sign an expensive FA.   He doesn’t believe in them and neither does Irsay.    That’s how the Colts do business.

He did, however, trade a 1st round pick for Buckner, which was unforseen.  He may surprise us, it's possible, but I'm not gonna hold my breathe.

I still think we should trade Taylor... :dunno:

dark horse candidate - I think it's possible Buckner asks for a trade.

I could see that with Buckner.  He's wasting away on this team that's going nowhere in the near future.
