  1. Over the couple of weeks I've noticed several examples of the "class" that our Indianapolis Colts organization exemplifies and wanted to share them with you all because we have a LOT to be proud of in our players and front office personnel !!

    * BILL POLIAN - Our former Colts General Manager and President has been the epitome of "class" during his ESPN draft analysis of the Colts. He speaks of the Colts players (past - present - and - future) with respect and professionalism. He speaks of former boss Jim Irsay in a respectful manner despite being fired by Irsay just a few months ago.

    * PEYTON MANNING - Our former QB continues to display the "class" for which he is league renown !! He personally called our local sports writers to thank them for hard work during his tenure in Indianapolis !! Additionally - he sent a congratulatory text to Andrew Luck after the Colts selected him with the #1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft - even though Luck is the very reason that Manning was released by the Colts !!

    * JEFF SATURDAY - Despite signing a 2-year contract to play for the Green Bay Packers - our former Pro Bowl center - was a part of the recent "Susan G Komen Race for the Cure" event in downtown Indianapolis !!

    * ANTHONY CASTONZO - Our left tackle continues to embrace our team and local community !! He appears at numerous events to meet the fans and sign autographs !! Additionally - he makes charitable appearances - such as reading to local youth as a part of the "Super Bowl XLVI" events !!

It makes me very proud of our organization - top to bottom - to see the ways that they demonstrate the type of people they are off-the-field as well as on-the-field !! Kudos to Owner Jim Irsay for setting an example for his entire organization !!

    Cheers!

They do make it easy to LOVE them!

    Go COLTS!

  2. Serious positives!

Very strong, difficult to move off the line of scrimmage, occupies double teams, a true space eater; natural girth and thick trunk, a nightmare to block one-on-one... Stays low and wins most battles for leverage; strong, violent hands with explosive hand punch, solid leg drive, keeps his legs moving, very good stack and shed type player; can push the pocket, can bull rush and overpower blockers when pass rushing... Wide base and low center of gravity, solid anchor, doesn't give up an inch of ground, is too stout to be moved around, base strength is phenomenal; eats up blockers, collapses running lanes, keeps linebackers clean and allows them to roam free into the backfield... Lunch-pail type player, is smart and works hard, plays with an impressive motor; anticipates snap count, above average recognition skills, plays through the whistle, responds well to coaching and spends a lot of time in the video room... Is more of a drag-down tackler than a fundamental wrap-up and drive through tackler, tosses ball carriers to the ground with ease, can also deliver some explosive hits... Steady force in the middle, the anchor of Alabama's defense, has experience in both three and four-man fronts under Nick Saban; fifth-year senior has played in 53 games, including 25 career starts... Saban might be the best coach in the country for developing interior defensive line prospects, including Terrence Cody and Marcell Dareus in the past two drafts... Rising prospect in a weak nose tackle class, classic zero-gap NT prospect who fits in a 3-4 but is also a better athlete than people realize, has an underrated first step for his size and moves well for a 300+ pounder, could play defensive tackle in a 4-3 as well; has a low ceiling but reasonably high floor... Nicknamed 'The Incredible Hulk' by his teammates, maximum bench press total of close to 580 pounds and 630 pound squat, according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang... Played through a torn ACL and meniscus suffered October 1 vs. Florida en route to Alabama's 14th national championship.

  3. The Colts Lost a QB (Peyton Manning), 2 TE’s (Dallas Clark & Jacob Tamme) and a WR (Pierre Garcon)

These were the biggest HOLES on the Roster. The loss of talent here was significant.

While griping about defense is something we’ve all done for years, I’m reminded that solid players have already been added on that side of the ball through Free Agency; Cory Redding – DE, Brandon McKinney – NT & Tom Zbikowski – SS, just to name a few.

IMHO, this draft makes perfect sense to me and is getting me excited about this team.

It's an “A” so far in my book!

    Go COLTS!

  4. Playing NT for the Chargers, then the Ravens.....and then Grigson & Pagano, 2 intelligent NFL people, making a point to sign him as a free agent, i'd say he "probably is" good.

I'm in the same zone you are. This guy competed and won his roster spot on those teams. Earning a Backup role on either of those two particular squads requires talent. That talent earned him 6 additional years to refine his craft and to do so under notable and respected defensive coaching.

Second observation; If the Colts are now a 3-4 defense, they absolutely must have 2 NT's, a starter and a quality backup. So it seems to me that one of those two needs has just been filled. To me, this all adds up to a really good signing.

  5. Uhhmmmm WOW! I'd say Luck made an impression on coach Shaw. The reporting has been that Luck's "all that". According to Shaw, he's more than "all that", he's "all that" AND a bag of chips!

I'm gonna second NewEra's comments; "I can't frickin wait to get Luck" too!!!!!!!!

  6. So if you guys didnt know the Manning sweepstakes went down from 4 teams to 3. Ken Wisenhunt reported that he will pull out of the Manning sweepstakes and pay Kevin Kolb. The Dolphins also decided to pull out of the race. Now that the Broncos and Titans are closing in a suprise dark horse team came out of no where. The 49ers have saw him work out and are very interested. If your wondering where i got this info its from NFL Network and Bleacher Report.

I really hope he goes to the 49ers.

I thought the 49'ers were outsiders in the process. However, today around 5 PM it was reported (msn.com) that Alex Smith was in Miami speaking with the Dolphins today.

Things that make you go hmmm!

  7. I've posted my strong, pro Mathis comments before, so this will be no surprise to some.

IMHO Pagano & Grigson simply studied the film and reached the only conclusion a good football coach/GM could reach; RM is one of the true elite players in the league. So, no surprise to me that he's been signed.

Also, as I've posted before, I've isolated him and watched him work a tremendous number of snaps over the years (because he's so impressive that I can't stop) and he's an absolute relentless, unblockable, unstoppable play wrecker. I'm 100% convinced that if he'd been drafted by a 3-4 defensive, he'd be a "no brainer" HOF LB'er. Disagree as some will, no one will ever change my mind on Robert Mathis. He's just that fricken good!

  8. I've never seen anything like this before.

A team with a good defense and a mess for an offensive could switch to the Colts offensive, complete with total continuity, in one bold move. The fact that such a thing is possible is what makes me throw it out there. I just can't remember anything even remotely close to this before.

  9. I had to wipe tears on my slleeve when a co-worker came into my office. Too much for me. I can't sit in my office with tears on my cheeks at work. I don't have the words to fully express my sadness over this.

  10. Think about what is likely NOT what is possible...

SF.....No. They'd have to turn their back on the guy who led them to the NFC title gmae.

The coach insists it WILL NOT HAPPEN...

Arizona.....They just gave a wheel barrell full of cash to Kevin Kolb

    6-yeer deal..$21 mil guaranteed...

    Miami....They won 4 of their last 5

Matt Moore did well for them late in the year....and its an outdoor cold weather division for a guy with now-questionable arm strength..

NY Jets....No chance....again..outdoor cold-weather division and big bucks QB alredaty there.

You can go down the line...//There is no good fit

Its fun for the cable TV guys to speculate on where he might go.

But you guys know that nobody's going to sign Peyton Manning.

    But Indy.

    With all due respect... pfffft!
