  1. That's exactly the case. After I heard the story with Grandmma I came across an Youtube video of an interview given by Davis sometime in 2011. During that interview he mentioned the special role that his Grandmma played in his life. He says that she actually was the one to raise him, Vernon and his 4 sisters. Please also keep in mind that Davis brothers are from Washington DC, a city with some really bad areas, crime rate wise. She may have helped him and his brother stay out of trouble.

    You can FF to 0:40

  2. Hmmm, I guess I'm missing something because I live in South Florida and have only heard good things from, and about Davis until now. I've heard him on local sports radio and heard other members of his team speak well of him. Frankly, he's been considered one of the bright spots, until now of course. There's plenty of Dolphins fans around here saying wth on this deal. All of the sudden he's a bad guy? B.S.! He's played tough and solid football here and was well liked until this camp.

It's worth noting that each year pre-season optimism has been lower than the year before in Miami. The team, city and fans are in an endless rutt where championship success is always 5 years away. The stadium is filled only when the visiting team buys up the tickets. The front office and coaching staffs just keep coming and going, as do players. Every year something like this goes on... the best talent escapes and the team fights to achieve mediocrity.

There's nothing wrong with this kid, period. The great work ethic of the Colts and a full stadium of rabid Colts fans, is just what the doctor ordered. It's a steal of a deal!

  3. Anybody buying the proposal in this guy's blog post? Would Dallas really consider that? I wasn't sure this guys opinion was worth starting a new thread over, but I do think this is an interesting thought....

I think he's correct. Freeney is a world class 4-3 pass rushing DE. The Cowboys would end up with Ware and Freeney. That will sell tickets, and the Colts would get CB Mike Jenkins who they really want. Jerry Jones is also one of the few that has the money to make the deal work. Trade them, sign new contracts and get them refitted into systems where they'll both thrive.

  4. Allen is already well schooled in blocking. I've seen him flat back and overpower defenders multiple times so far. He's just an all around stud. Could be a great one!

Fleener IMHO is going to be a real threat in the red zone because of his height and movement. I just think Arians has Fleener (and Allen) working extremely hard on their blocking skills first. He knows they can both catch and run routes, but he wants a running game and both need coaching and focus on that for now. The rest will come when they've earned a blocking grade.

  5. I've liked the trades Grigson has put together.

The 2nd given for davis will most likely be a mid-round pick. Reasonale value as GOOD cbs aren't easy to find in the 1st round, let alone the 2nd. Is Davis worth a 2nd pick? Probably.

The bigger issue I see is that this is actually a good year for us to invest future picks.

Next year, we will have MAJOR $$$$ to spend in free agency. This will more than make up for any lost draft picks.

OL is a good place to get talent via free agency.

I see us really filling the holes next year in free agency.

But overall, its nice to see this organization isn't afraid to bring people in. And i think, overall, the trades have been good ones.

    I like what I'm seeing.

    Well said, I'm with you!

  6. Things happen too fast for me to get a good grip on the o-line issues today, but Seth Olsen and Jeff Linkenbach both seemed to have got beat on a regular basis. Anyone have a good grasp on it already?

  7. As I remember it, all the gurus had Hughes in their 3-4 OLB lists on draft day as a late 1st / early 2nd rounder. I also remember it was looked upon with caution by those same gurus when Polian drafted him to play DE.

Since, he's now positioned where the majority of knowledgable football people thought his skills fit all along. I do have an optimistic attitude toward him, and recently, when Pat Angerer spoke about his eyebrow raising adaptation to the core drills, I'd say I've become downright enthusiastic.
