I agree with the OP in the sense that players always yearn for opportunities. When they come along, they need to take advantage of them. With Mathis down, Hughes needs to show he's developed and capitalize on the opportunity.
To whom much is given, much is expected!

... Cassius Vaughn is doing just fine returning kicks plus Cassius actually plays on defense so we get a 2 for 1.
I like what I've seen in both areas from him lately. My football instincts tell me if Vaughn continues to get opportunities returning the ball, he's going to split a seam and haul it home!

I really like Redding too. Like Mathis & Freeney, Redding is "bringing it" every week. Like those two, he knows the difference between "wanting: to get some and "going" to get some.
Go Colts! Get Some!

This is a great film, in which you can hear some inside comments during the game. There is a moment just before Vinatieri game leading field goal in which Luck misses a wide open Donald Brown and tries to force it to Wayne. Nice to hear Arians and Luck exchange.
Awesome... Thanks for finding and posting this! Reggie, Reggie, Reggie!

:slaphead:
Perfectly stated!

I think moving him around the line has reinvigorated him. He seems like he enjoys going in motion and lining up in the slot.
I agree with this. I griped about this for years prior too.
-
Was brilliant! His hand prints are all over this win!
So... one more REGGIE, REGGIE, REGGIE, REGGIE, seemed appropriate!
Go Colts!

1) 'Offensive' Blocking is correct, just not the way you meant it.
2) How do I feel about the execution of our Offensive Line? I'd be all for it.

A trip through NFL Rewind (Min v Indy) revealed some somber bungling in the category of blocking. Starting with the TE’s; they just didn’t know who was doing what, when or where. From the backfield, the slot or in tight, they came up with air way too often. They’re young, so it’s easy to forgive, but wow.
Then there’s the RB’s; Don Brown and Mewelde Moore, it was like watching a Benny Hill episode. Blocking dummies might be too nice a description of those two in the backfield last Sunday. Vets are not so easily forgiven. I like DB, but I’d put him on punt return for that effort and Mewelde Moore would be filling Gatorade cups.
Which leads to the O-Line; someone has to take charge of the O-line calls. Linkenbach and Olsen need constant instruction or they’ll block the wrong guy or no one at all. Link can block better than I thought, he’s just so easily confused. As opposed to Olsen who is easily confused and lacks power. The good news is Essex is a huge upgrade over Olsen, and most of the calamity up front is mental not physical.
The combination of it all was bizarre, yet they won. Credit to the Colts.
The Colts have a chance to enter the bye week undefeated at home, undefeated in the conference, undefeated in the division and with a winning record… if they block better!
Let’s go COLTS!

As I remeber it;
Well after the whistle blew, Allen was driven backward toward the pile of players on the ground. He'd disengaged and that's why he could be driven backward. Once his heels made contact with the pile, he had to make a stand or be shoved backward onto the pile. He pushed back to remain standing and it esculated into a full contact shoving session. Brinkley tried to over power Allen, but instead ended power slammed on the turf. Brinkley got what he deserved. Allen did what he had to.

Avery has worked hard to get back on the field and prove himself. He took a nice first step Sunday. Say what you will... he showed up!
-
Actually Everson Griffen beat Anthony Constanzo for that sack.
I'm no fan of Link but I didn't see any problems from him today.
I might be wrong, but I thought Link got smoked on that play. His man was basically untouched into the pocket. Luck couldn't step forward so he dodged him by jumping backward, right into the rusher Costanzo had blocked well and forced to take the long way around the backside of the pocket.

Hearing a thunderous roar in the stadium, and fans chanting REGGIE!, REGGIE!, REGGIE!, is something money just can't buy. It's a different type of "earnings". One that penetrates to a place that money simply can't reach.
REGGIE!, REGGIE!, REGGIE!!!!!

Agreed! My "Player Alert" radar has gone off every time I've seen him.Something about this guy just has playmaker written all over him. We'll see it more and more this year, maybe this week. "just a feeling"

Douzer could you start a thread like this every week , to show progression and compare?
I'll try!

From where I sat;
#1. The O-Line was swiss cheese in the passing game. I thought A.L. kept his poise quite well considering how bad the pass protection was.
#2. The defense gave up so many big plays I couldn't keep count. The Colts pass rush generated very little pressure and the secondary paid the price.

NO number 1 overall pick QB has ever won more than 7 games in their rookie campaign. 6 wins was the most ever until the Falcons set the bar at 7 with Matt Ryan.
I think this record falls to the new Indianapolis Colts and Andrew Luck!
Cheers!

The word is, Sergio Brown shows on Special Teams. That's how you make your way onto the Big Blue Monster!

Bleacher Report comments:
The two surprising names on this list are Martin Tevaseu and Jay Richardson. Both of these defensive linemen are quality players and will find homes in the NFL. Tevaseu is a nose tackle, while Richardson is a defensive end.
We knew that the toughest decisions for the Jets would come in the defensive line group. They have arguably the deepest defensive line group in the NFL. Keeping the whole group would cost too many roster spots.
It is still a little surprising that both Tevaseu and Richardson got the boot. Both of these players are good enough to play (possibly even start) on other teams. Almost certainly the Jets will be hoping that these two guys clear waivers. If they do, they will be signed back to the Jets' practice squad.
If they are picked up by other teams, then the Jets will have lost some assets.

We really miss Pat Angerer
in Colts Football
Posted
In both the Jax game and the Jets game the inside LB's got "owned". With so much Freeman love going on, I opted not to post what I observed. Now that you broke the ice, I want to jump in and agree that Angerer is vastly better than Freeman, despite the hype to the contrary. No Contest!
