With some consistent pressure from the opposite side, Sheard could really break out this year. He was doing it by himself most of the time.

You reminded me of a play in the Pittsburgh game where Sheard gets triple teamed, because there's no threat from the other edge (2:50 mark in the video highlights).

Not sure why you choose to bash on punters but it takes a lot of skill to be a good punter. A good punter can make a big difference in a game.

Agreed. He did a really good job.

But those videos also show who, and how well, we blocked on those kicks, as well as how well TJ Green, Chris Milton, etc. performed as gunners. Special Teams matter. Punters matter. It takes all 53.

  3. It's possible that Clark may be penciled in as the backup LT/LG. It doesn't seem as if Ballard spoke to who's behind Castonzo/Nelson. Vuj had that role last year.  That too would fit the 10 player narrative.

I just read the article from one of the Colts.com writers about the 2 hour meeting with Ballard the other day. Holy cow thats some great insite. Trying to imagine Polian or Grigs doing that... yeah, nah m8.

I feel good about this draft. Certainly fits the scheme of both the coaches and Ballard, and the culture they want to build. All the picks are high character guys, all of theme freak athletes.

Me too, it was really insightful!

  5. Technique can be taught, elite physical traits cannot.be taught.

I personally, had no expectation of success in year 1 and 2, as he had never been taught, or practiced pro techniques. As such, year three has always been when I expected to find out if we hit gold or pyrite. We shall see.

I like his assertiveness but does this cross the line of good sportsmanship?

I mean, would we want Gronkowski to do this to one of our guys? Would we want our kids doing it? I don’t think Dungy would approve.

I may be a minority here but I think it’s crossing the line. Drive the guy to the turf and you’ve done your job.

You know those defensive guys aren't out there playing patty cake. And you know some of those guys will throw an O-lineman on the ground and step on his facemask on the way to body slam a QB. There's also a lot big mouths who talk a lot of s**t. I think his power slams are doled out accordingly!

    Nice find...

    Here is what they reported:

Fountain posted a 42.5-inch vertical and 134-inch broad jump at the Northern Iowa pro day in late March.

One of the biggest name to not be invited to the NFL Combine, Fountain turned heads with his jaw-dropping pro day. In fact, Fountain would've ranked first among participating receivers at said combine in both the vertical and broad jump, while his unofficial 4.46-second 40-yard dash would've ranked 10th. This all comes after he won offensive MVP honors at the East-West Shrine Game in mid-January. However, despite how impressive he's been in the pre-draft process, Fountain is still a raw prospect who likely needs to refine his technique to succeed at the pro level. He figures to be selected on Day 3, with the upside to vastly outperform that pedigree.

I don't know what the right side will be.

    LT - A. Castonzo

    LG - Q. Nelson

    C - R. Kelly

    RG - J. Mewhort / M.Slauson / B.Smith

    RT - J. Haeg / D. Good / B. Smith

Competition on the right side, I guess?

Anyway - I think our O-line is on the right track.

    LT - A. Castonzo | L Clark

    LG - Q. Nelson | J. Mewhort

    C - R. Kelly | D. Bond

    RG - B.Smith | M.Slauson

    RT - D. Good | J. Haeg

  10. There's paying "lip service" to having a great O-line, and there's drafting a great O-Line. No more flashy Dorsett "speedsters" or Bjorne Werner "Edge Rushers".  I'll take substance over flash all day long!

Said all the right things, I hope he stays healthy.

”It’s a power conference...”  And we’re transitioning to a finesse defense?

    Does this concern anyone else?

Finesse Defense? I don't remember any other 4-3 team getting that label hung on them but the Colts. I always thought of that as a backhanded insult Colt haters in the media perpetuated. As I recall, back in the day, guys like Bob Sanders, Antoine Bethea and others had no finesse in their games, they just laid the wood.
