NFL mock draft: New landing spots for Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy as Vikings trade to No. 3

    Nate Davis

    15. Indianapolis Colts: DT Byron Murphy II, Texas

DeForest Buckner just turned 30 and is entering the final year of his contract. And though he may still be near his peak, why not bolster the havoc you can create on the inside by enlisting someone like Murphy at what has arguably become the league's most coveted defensive position. No quicker path to the likes of C.J. Stroud and Trevor Lawrence than right up the gut.

  2. Maybe while watching the tape of Sneed, Edwards stood out to the Colts scouts?

Colts shift interest to Chiefs safety Mike Edwards in 2024 NFL free agency

According to the NFL's personnel notice for Monday, the Colts hosted Chiefs S Mike Edwards for a visit in free agency. A former third-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of the University of Kentucky in 2019, Edwards joined Kansas City on a one-year deal in 2023.

While he had a very successful campaign with the Chiefs last season, he was not among the defenders they retained...

...The former Chiefs defender who appeared in 17 regular season games with five starts in 2023. He recorded 51 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and two fumble recoveries, including one returned 101 yards for a TD.

The 27-year-old started all four games for Kansas City during the postseason, recording 12 total tackles, an interception, and two passes defended...

    Yeah no doubt.

I just think at this point, if the draft compensation has been figured out(who even knows?), the money shouldn't of been that hard, and doubt Ballard would let him walk over $1-$2m AAV.  As it seems he really wants him.

Sneed either going back and forth on taking the pay day and leaving or going for 3 peat on tag

KC debating if they want to just run it back with Sneed on tag(if he isn't disgruntled about it), or if they need his resources elsewhere?

Can only be so many things. Money and trade compensation is the easy part and you just walk away by this point. Maybe we have?

Hopefully this goes through today, or at least get some resolution. Maybe that comes with a signing of someone else?

I wonder if KC, due to cap considerations, may not really want him back, since then, they would have to pay him the franchise price tag?

So slept on the Sneed situation.

I don't know if it's draft compensation or contract compensation?

I'm starting to think it's Sneed and his indecision on if he wants to leave KC and get paid or stay and go for the 3 peat on the tag.

He's already been on record talking about it and about wanting to stay in KC.

    https://www.kshb.com/sports/football/chiefs/hopefully-im-still-here-chiefs-cb-ljarius-sneed-looks-to-next-season

When asked about the chance to be a part of a team with a chance to win back-to-back-to-back Super Bowls, Sneed said he's hopeful.

“Two is legendary, but three? You never get tired of getting rings,” Sneed said. “Hopefully I’m with the Chiefs. Hopefully I’m still here and we can go back and repeat.”

I think Sneed saying he hopes to stay with the Chiefs isn't anything to be troubled with. Almost all players use that rhetoric when their contract is up. And if the Chiefs were to satisfy his wants financially, of course he would like to stay there. But in the end, the majority of the time, it always comes down to the money.

  5. Well, Jake Martin won't be back.

Bears agree to terms with DE Jake Martin on one-year deal

...Martin, 28, appeared in all 17 games with the Colts last season, playing 16 percent of the team’s snaps on defense and 25 percent on special teams.

He totaled seven tackles and two sacks in 2023...

Im not sure how good White is?   He has nothing but terrible PFF grades since his rookie year.   Seriously bad grades.  I think he’s been riding his reputation as the 5th overall pick and that’s why all he’s getting is 1/$7.5m   Pennies for a guy with a big reputation.

Yeah? I'm not really sure how good he actually is? I don't like pff, and I never rely on that, as to who is good and who is not. but I did research the Bucs team before we played them last year, as I usually do for every one of our opponents. As I recall, most of the articles, blogs, etc  I read mentioned White as having a nice year. Then when we played them I thought he played well. Had a bunch of tackles against us
